Quiet and nice
This Apartment is perfect for a couple (with two kids) or a group up to four friends.
Good Location: 10 Minutes to the world famous Kudamm (the boulevard of Berlin). 8 Minutes to S-Bahn Savignyplatz. It takes 11 Minutes with the S-Bahn (Metro) to Station Friedrichstraße (Museums Island, Reichstag Parliament). Fair Trade Center is available in 7 Minutes bei Bus or S-Bahn.
It is a typical Berliner so called "Kiez", a neighborhood, where creatives, artists, writers used to live and still live. The most famous one is the painter George Grosz, who inspired us for the colors and the interior design of that apartment. All vibrant highlights of Berlin are close: The Boulevard Ku'Damm, designhouse stilwerk, theatres, jazz clubs, bars. Here you find the world famous black cafe (Schwarzes Cafe) which offers warm dishes (German Style) 24/7. So f you get hungry in the middle of the night, you don't have to suffer from hunger and solitude. This area was famous furing the cold war as a the so called "window of the west". Writers, politicians, actors and fashion designers celebrated bohemian lifestyle here to show to the world: We are feeling fine.
It's not a big apartment (34 sqm), but you have several zones on two levels. The Doublebed is located on a stage in a corner for more privacy. The second Doublebed is a sofa and can be pulled out of a staged wall. The whole apartment is designed by Le Van Bo, and is made with love and compiled with high quality materials (oak wood floor). The Bedmattress is a high comfort mattress, no cheap stuff.
The chosen furniture tell hundreds of fascinating stories about german design. A lot of designs made by berliner architects (from the bauhaus period up to contemporary era), who fought for a good democratic design for a new society.
This apartment is more than a furnitured flat. This is a declaration of love to Berlin.
Please bring 100 Euro Security Fee in cash when Check in. Its refundable when checking out.
The Studio has a higher level, where the doublebed is. The Colors are inspired by Dada Painter George Grosz, who used to live here in the hood.
The place was great! I love the decor and the proximity to Berlin's attractions. I will definitely stay again if i'm ever in Berlin.
Great stay. Nice apartment and a good host.
We were welcomed warmly in the apartment and were even able to stay until evening on the check-out day due to late return flights. The design of the apartment was once nicely done but it needs a refresh, the term "shaby-chick" describes it quite well. Furthermore the cleaning lady doesn't pay attention to details, the shower head needs to be changed and the drain hardly works.
Aside from that we had a great stay as the location & neighbourhood is just perfect with lots of cafés, restaurants around but still very quiet at night.
We were disappointed with the apartment, the host was nice and welcoming however the apartment was more shabby than chic. Light switches are broken and taped up, the TV didn't work the shower shot out every which way but down the towels and bedding were old and worn, etc, etc. On a more positive note the location was great and we liked the layout of the apartment.
This is a good deal for groups who can utilise the second bed however as a couple we would have been more comfortable elsewhere. I'm sure it was great a couple of years ago but the wear and tear are starting to show.
It was a fine Two-day stay me and my family had at your appartement. It was practical and well located - and well decorated.
