Set in the hills overlooking the stunning coastline, Kate’s Cottages are in the heart of East Lothian.
In a secluded location, near the historic harbour town of Dunbar, we offer luxury self catering cottages, with a welcome basket and options to include nursery equipment, toys, games, a pet pack and firewood.

Our Children’s Garden is a paradise for little ones, and we welcome your dogs too!

From the moment you arrive you can start to relax!

The space
Kinninghallen is one of two beautifully furnished cottages, decorated in a country style of squishy sofas, period and antique furniture, sumptuous curtains and wool carpets. It is warm and inviting.

Providing centrally heated cosiness, it has an open fire in the sitting room to snuggle in front of. A starter pack of kindling, fire lighters and logs is available on request at an additional cost of £30.

Kinnighallen can accommodate up to five people, plus a baby or toddler in a travel cot. It has two spacious bedrooms upstairs, each with a double bed.

Decorated with sumptuous silk curtains, warm wool carpets, soft cotton bedlinen, cosy blankets and plenty of storage for your holiday wardrobe.

The bathroom is contemporary in design, with a separate small bath (suitable for babies and children) and a large walk-in shower. There you will find complementary towels, hand soap and toilet roll.

The superb kitchen and dining room seats up to 6 people around a farmhouse table and is fully equipped.

A separate utility room has a washing machine and pantry.

All the kitchen, sitting room and bedrooms enjoy a bright southerly aspect and have superb views of the surrounding hills.

For the Tiny Little Ones:
For the smallest of our guests, you can request nursery equipment ranging from a travel cot and highchair, a bottle steriliser, changing mat, socket covers and child friendly crockery and cutlery.

If there is anything you need that is not listed, please just email us and we will do our very best to help.

Toys....
Inside, each cottage has a well stocked toy box with a range of toys & books for all ages and family board games.

Just for you....
Each cottage has its own private, south facing, cottage garden with furniture for relaxing and dining. Guest are welcome to help themselves to the fresh herbs growing in the gardens.


For everyone to share:

The Children’s Garden…..
Outside we have a Children’s Garden, fully enclosed, overlooking the sheep fields, with a separate gate from the main garden area. It is a children’s paradise with a large Cedar wood Skyfort playcentre. It is towering playland that will feel like their own castle!

For the smaller ones we have a large sandpit with lots of toys for digging and building, a toddler slide and swing, ride on toys and a wooden playhouse with kitchen, play food, pots and pans and a picnic bench so they can set up their very own café!

Games Garden…
Our outdoor toy shed has lots of garden games to play on the lawn area.

Other things to note
Welcome, welcome! What will be waiting for you when you arrive?

A welcome basket is provided so that you can enjoy a cup of tea or a coffee and a few nibbles, before starting to unpack.

The kitchen will be stocked with your basic requirements including tea, coffee, sugar, milk sachets, salt & pepper. There will also be washing up liquid, kitchen spray and a few dishwasher tablets. These are complementary.

You can arrange a “Click & Collect” is available from Asda, Dunbar which is 5 mins away.

Whether you fancy heading out for a run, mountain biking or a leisurely stroll, we are surrounded by miles of farm tracks that will take you through glens, woodlands, along streams, through fords, by lakes and Woodhall Dean nature reserve. No need to get into your car, just step out of your cottage and enjoy!


Head to the Beach….
For those who want to head to one of the many stunning nearby beaches for the day, we have beach balls, body boards, buckets and spades, fishing nets for the rock pools and beach towels.

Belhaven Bay beach is a wide sweeping sandy beach perfect for building sandcastles and letting the children and dogs run free!

The East Beach at Dunbar is a brilliant smaller beach with rock pools, shells, pebbles and located in the centre of Dunbar. You can park right beside it and walk onto the beach only a few steps away, a great one for kids!

Belhaven Bay and Pease Bay are particularly popular for Paddle Boarding, Surfing and Kayaking.

We have done bikes and scooters in the outdoor play shed so no need to bring them with you, borrow ours!

A large open grass park which connects into the cliff top trail. It has tennis courts which are available to hire.
