Our property is adjacent to the town of Kensington, which has a quiet village feeling. There is a village shopping center about 1 mile away which contains a grocery store, the Inn Kensington Restaurant, a very nice family style restaurant with excellent food, a Thai café, the Country Cheese Store, which has specialty cheeses, coffees, ice cream and assorted other treats, and The Arlington, which is a deli/café. There is also a liquor store, specializing in fine wines, Mechanics Bank with ATM, a nail spa and an Ace Hardware. Across the street is a gas station. All within a 1/2 hour walk or a 5 minute drive.
The neighborhood is a safe, friendly and comfortable place to live. Most residents have been here for 20 or 30 years. The owners' house has been on the property since the 1920's when it was built by the original owner.
There is a bus stop within two blocks from the cottage where one can catch the #7 bus to Berkeley. It typically takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the downtown Berkeley BART station where the train to San Francisco and other destinations may be gotten. A quick car trip down the hill to the El Cerrito Plaza BART station takes about 5 minutes. There is also the H bus to San Francisco which stops here. By car, it is a quick 7- 8 minute trip to the freeway, and we are conveniently positioned between the Bay Bridge, which connects to San Francisco, and the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge, which connects to Marin County and San Francisco via the Golden Gate Bridge. It is an easy trip of about an hour, or so, to the wine country. Shuttle bus service from either San Francisco International Airport or Oakland Airport is available to the property. S.F. Airport and Oakland Airport both connect with BART as well.

My husband, Dan, and I have been living in our house since 1976 and had been renting out our separate cottage since the 80's as a long term traditional rental. We feel very fortunate to have been able to live here in this special place and now would like to share it with as many other people as we can for as long as we can. It is a joy to meet so many interesting people from all over the world! My husband is an architect, and I am a retired social worker with 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren. I was not expecting to begin working again as an innkeeper, but I love it!
