Private, quiet setting on a hilltop near Berkeley. Separate from owner's home, sheltered by tall trees, near woodland trails, guests will enjoy beautiful bay views Amenities include washer/dryer, full kitchen, off-street parking, cable TV, Wi Fi .

The space

The cottage is ideal for a couple or individuals who are looking for a comfortable, attractive place to stay.. There is a comfy queen size bed in the bedroom as well as a futon in the living area which can be used as a bed for one adult or two small children. The cottage can serve as a retreat, a romantic getaway or a place to stay for parents and grandparents who are coming to visit their children and grandchildren. Designed by the architect owner, the space is flooded with soft, natural light via a skylight which spans the length of the building.

Visitors to U.C.Berkeley will have an easy commute of about 20 minutes. A bus stop is located only a short 2 blocks away. A bus to San Francisco stops there as well. Alternately, one can catch the bus to the Berkeley Bay Area Rapid Transit station, which is the best way to get to San Francisco without a car on BART

Guest access

Guests will have access to the gardens and both outdoor sitting areas. There is ample off-street parking right in front of the cottage. The owners' home is located at the back of the property so guests approach the cottage first and not through owners' yard. There are views from the cottage and gardens. Walking along the ridge of the canyon behind the property is also a pleasant activity. Views are abundant in every direction.

Guests may be entirely private or may choose to interact with the hosts, who enjoy meeting and socializing with visitors.

We had the best time staying at Kent's cottage. Everything was so comfortable and cozy. Drinks in the fridge and delicious scones! The surrounding area was fantastic, a perfect location. We slept great and loved sitting outside and having coffee in the morning. We would have loved to stay longer!

The cottage is adorable! So cute to pull right up to it, and have the private driveway parking. The hilltop view is fabulous too, though we had some crazy heat and hazy weather for our stay. The cottage had all the amenities, including some food and beverages in the kitchen! Kent was lovely, very responsive and accommodating. Wonderful place!

With homebaked goods waiting for us upon arrival, warm fuzzy socks to keep our toes warm, and a personal greeting from our lovely host, this was by far my favorite airbnb stay of all my travels. I HIGHLY recommend staying here! - Elani

Words cannot express enough how much we enjoyed staying at Kent's place and getting to know her and her husband (and their lovely cat, Lulu!). Three of us were able to comfortably stay in this cozy and clean cottage. Kent is a very kind, thoughtful and respectful host, who makes every effort to make the stay comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back!

My husband, Dan, and I have been living in our house since 1976 and had been renting out our separate cottage since the 80's as a long term traditional rental. We feel very fortunate to have been able to live here in this special place and now would like to share it with as many other people as we can for as long as we can. It is a joy to meet so many interesting people from all over the world! My husband is an architect, and I am a retired social worker with 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren. I was not expecting to begin working again as an innkeeper, but I love it!
