Access to main area downstairs including lounge, dining, kitchen, laundry, atrium. Only the downstairs bathroom is private/off limits but then with your own en suite, you won't need it.
As a born and bred Sydneysider I know the city inside out. I'm happy to help advise you and show you around when you arrive. I also travel for work so am not in residence 24//7 so you will be left to your own devices at times.
Only 500 metres to Sydney CBD and right in the midst of Surry Hills, one of Australia's leading inner-city villages; a melting pot of interesting people who respect each other's individuality and enjoy an enriching social, and creative scene. Sydney's bustling dining and entertainment hub is also dotted with parks and is a haven for native birds like sulphur-crested cockatoos, rosellas and the odd kookaburra. My street features a gum-treed park almost opposite home. Within one minute is the larger Harmony Park, where dog owners, picnickers and sunbakers congregate. A yum cha food truck serves dim sum there every Thursday night. Oxford Street nightclubs and music venues are five minutes away. Fine dining and cafes are within minutes. The retro Golden Age Cinema in the Paramount Studios building is just five minutes way. The Estonian Club's band and film nights, market stalls and dances are just 2 minutes away. Hyde Park five minutes. Two 50m swimming pool complexes both within ten minutes, as is Chinatown. Supermarket and gourmet providores just 5 minutes away. An endless array of entertainment options + maximum convenience are just a stroll away.
Central Railway, which can take you to pretty much anywhere in the country, is an easy ten minutes' walk away. Various bus routes to Bondi Beach, Circular Quay, the Opera House, Harbour Bridge etc. are all a five minute walk. Sydney International and Domestic Airports are 25 minutes in a cab or accessible from Central Railway. Ferries from Darling Harbour are a 15 min walk and from Circular Quay a 30 min walk (or ten min bus ride from Oxford Street). If you're a skater feel free to take the Devo deck for a skate around the neighbourhood.
I am only taking bookings for a maximum of seven days at the moment. If you requirements are slightly beyond that then please don't hesitate to contact me to see if we can work something out, but my decision will be based on extraneous factors so I can't guarantee my position at the time. I'll obviously do everything I can though to accommodate you.
If anything's concerning you please let me know. Everyone's different (as are cultures) and it's important we share with each other so we can address anything promptly and with the minimum of fuss.
Fresh towels will be provided after 3 days. If you require cleaning of your bathroom and fresh sheets after 5 days a cleaning fee will apply.
Everywhere in the house is fine except the downstairs bathroom (you have your own ensuite anyway). You also have a roof terrace balcony setting directly outside your room.
Interaction with Guests
I'm on hand to advise you and am only a phone call away when you're out and about. Always happy to have a chat but equally very relaxed about leaving you to your own devices. I'm out and about a lot myself.
Surry Hills is a vibrant, creative melting pot of cosmopolitan people who are also incredibly down-to-earth. As one of Australia's leading cafe and dining precincts, I can thoroughly recommend you bring clothing with elastic waistbands.
You're incredibly centrally located down the CBD end of Surry Hills, which means you're less than 10 mins' walk from Central Station, 5 mins' walk from all major bus routes to the Opera House and Bondi Beach, and within walking distance of Oxford Street's nightclubs.
Other Things to Note
Your room features a large overhead fan that's operated by remote control. French doors open out onto the roof terrace. Between those two things most people find the room comfortable and cool. However if you prefer icebox conditions courtesy of air conditioning, this space may not be for you.
My downstairs bathroom is private thanks.
Non-smokers preferred but if are a puffer, please use only the atrium or roof terrace to light up.
No pets, I'm sorry.
Accidents happen but depending on the nature of the breakage, we may need to discuss compensation (only for substantial items).
Given it's an urban environment, the street is cosy. Which means that noise travels. Please respect our neighbours. They're a great bunch and will do the same for you.
Given that my house is snug, unfortunately I can't accommodate additional guests. Only solo guests thanks.
Thanks for being a fantastic, empathetic, kind host. 21 Samuel Street is an amazing base for making you feel like a local. The room with its ensuite bathroom and terrace has all you need and Lucia makes it feel cozy even this chilly winter by putting radiator and electric heating on. I'll come back soon.
Lucia was a great host and the space was great! Welcomed me when I arrived and helped suggest places to eat and visit since I had not had anything planned. I really liked the decor of the house and room, artsy and contemporary! The bed was comfortable and the rain shower in the ensuite was very refreshing. I just wish that I had more time at this place to have been able to relax out on the terrace. Great stay, would absolutely recommend if stopping by Sydney!
My stay with Lucia was great. Everything was as described if not better.
The location is perfect.
Lucia has thought of every little thing that a traveller may need.
Lucia was always available, easy to communicate with and very helpful.
If in Sydney again would def. stay here and highly recommend her place
Lucia was extremely welcoming. The place is amazing and in one of the best areas of Sydney. Highly Highly recommended.
Lucia is a kind and experienced host with a wonderful terrace home. The listing and photos are exactly as they appear. The location is super convenient, with walking distance to the CBD and Central Station. Would definitely stay again.
The place was tidy, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Just made me feel like home. It was also very central location closed to city and shops.
Lucia was very worm welcoming host who always tries to make sure everything is ok with me staying at hers.
The access to the large balcony which is connected to the room was amazing as well.
Very strongly recommend if you're looking for a place to stay in Sydney.
Too good of value for what I paid!!!!
As my first airbnb experience with a host, i couldn't have chosen better. Lucia, her home and the area are fabulous in many ways.
her home has funky decor and the upstairs space where you stay as a guest is airy and light. having your own ensuite and balcony is great in a space-challenged city like Sydney.

About the Host, Lucia
I'm an experienced marketing professional and traveller who loves the pulse of Sydney and has chosen to live on the fringes of the central business district in a creative village of like-minded people who enjoy both the good things in life and 'keeping it real'.
Sydney has been home since the stork dropped me in, so I'm plugged into all it has to offer; from the big ticket events to some of its best kept little secrets.
I think staying in someone's home, as was the case when I was in Iceland a year or so ago, can make a world of difference. You truly get under the skin of the city, you feel more like an adventurer than a tourist and you get all the benefits of knowing someone local, the sum of which makes for far more enriching travel.
Why do I host? Because sharing the things I love about Sydney is rewarding in its own right, but the bonus is that my AirBNB guests have all been smart, responsible, friendly and respectful people.
The saying goes that if you stand in Times Square long enough, everyone in the world will come to YOU. Which kind of reminds me of being an AirBNB host because the world is now regularly making itself right at home under my roof.
