We are renting this room in July and August, but you will have the whole house to yourself since we will be out of town. There will be a cat-sitter coming twice daily to check on my cat. Otherwise, you will be alone.
-----Hot shower!!!!!! I can show you how to get the best water pressure and hottest water. I thought it was easy but it seems lots of guests have found it difficult in the past.------
This private, furnished room is located in the Mission District, the sunniest neighborhood in SF. Includes shared full kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and backyard access.
The extra bedroom has 2 big windows overlooking the backyard and is in the back of the building, away from the street.
During the school year, I use this room to study in so my desk, books, and study materials are in the room. We rent it out when school is not in session.
Big backyard is used communally with the other 4 apartments in this building. Luckily, my unit is on the ground floor so the backyard is virtually all mine (and my cat's). You're welcome to use the backyard during daylight hours.
The room offers a double bed, a desk, WiFi, coin operated laundry, cable TV, and a dresser.
There is street parking available, although depending on the day and time it can be difficult to find. Located within 2 blocks of 6 different bus lines and 4 blocks of BART. Public transportation is much better than driving in San Francisco!
Close to shops, restaurants, parks, bars, and clubs. A 24-hour Safeway is located just 4 blocks away. Very convenient to downtown.
Please be clean, respectful, not too noisy, and nice to my cat. For those with mild cat allergies: my cat has no access to your space!
This is an old home with lots of quirks: the door handles to the back door and the foyer fall off if you pull too hard; the water pressure is weak; the bathroom sink drains slowly. Despite the sometimes annoying quirks it is a good, clean house, with privacy. Great for those who plan to be out exploring The City! The kitchen is available to use, but my boyfriend works at night and sleeps during the day so we ask that you please use it quietly between noon and 10pm.
With school and work, I basically just sleep and shower at home so there is lots of privacy. Since my boyfriend and I work such different schedules there is almost always someone home, but most of the time someone is sleeping. You don't have to walk on eggshells or anything. We are pretty deep sleepers, but please just be aware of it.

Megan was great. I arranged with her to let her know that my flight would arrive after midnight, and there was even a delay due to snow, and she was able to accommodate. One has to be respectful of the hosts, it is made known to the guest that there is constantly someone sleeping (she and her boyfriend work different shifts), and so that is something to take into consideration because the walls are pretty thin. However it was a drama-free stay, a great bed, and a good place to rest at the end of a day of travel. Thank you Megan
My boyfriend and I stayed with Megan and her boyfriend over New Years. The room was exactly as described. It was large and clean, with a comfy bed, TV, and perfectly acceptable bathroom. The location is also very convenient, just a short walk from the BART station and major bus lines. Lots of great restaurants and bars nearby too. We were out being tourists almost all the time so we barely saw our hosts, but our brief interactions were pleasant. Recommended!
Good location in the Mission district, short walking distance to BART. It's right on a main road, but parking was fairly easy. Megan was quick to respond to emails and texts. The building is old, so it does have some quirks. I found the water pressure and hot water in the shower to be adequate. The bedrooms are side-by-side, so there's not much privacy sound-wise. The main complaint I have was that the home was not heated. At all. I luckily had an electric blanket with me (since I travelled by car) so I was warm in bed, but most travelers probably wouldn't have that. Overall, it was a decent place to stay in the Mission for the price.
I had a great stay at Megan's place in the Mission, everything was as described and I had nice hot showers every morning. I really like the location of the apartment, it's just close enough to all the action without living right within it. I would certainly recommend her place to future travelers.
The apartment is exactly as pictured and described. It was extremely comfortable, clean, and convenient. The neighborhood is great, lots to see, experience and eat. Megan was very accomodating, efficient, and responsive. Since she was out of town, she had someone meet me at the apartment with keys. He was right on time, kind and helpful. I was able to arrive early and leave late. Yes, the shower is a bit challenging; if you want strong water pressure this isn't the place. You've got to run the hot for while then turn on the cold a bit. Her cat is sweet and friendly, a big bonus for me. All in all it's an excellent place to stay. The price can't be beat!
The room and the hosts were nice.
I'm sorry in advance for the hosts but it's true : I couldn't get a hot shower .... Maybe I wasn't talented enough but after having tried three times, I had to take my showers elsewhere ...
The stay at Megan's appartment was ok. It was as describe in the room description. We have the same comment as everyone on the shower, but unless this it was ok. We were three guests and the room was just spacious enough for us.
Colorful, convenient and cozy was just how it was pictured and very clean. However, the shower, previously mentioned in several reviews, is not fixed despite her claims. The hot water barely trickles from the shower head, and she explained that you must crack the cold water in order to increase pressure. In order to rinse your hair out, the amount of cold water pressure turns the shower to freezing cold - not exactly fixed! The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but parking was never an issue.
I stayed three nights here. The place was small, but clean and comfortable. I didn't see Megan for more that a few seconds but her boyfriend showed me the place when I arrived late at night. I have the same comments about the shower not having much hot water as others. If you are OK with not having a warm/hot shower, I'd recomend this place for the price.
A great place to stay in San Francisco, very comfortable accomodation and an excellent location. Megan was super helpful with things to do in the city and made sure we had a everything we needed whilst giving us our own space and privacy.
