Description

The space

We have a friendly indoor cat but we do not allow pets of any size or kind.

Guest access

Guest have access to everything except occupied bedrooms. Kitchen, refrigerator, pantry, outdoor bbq, pool jacuzzi, tennis court, parking. Plenty of space.

Interaction with guests

We leave that up to our guests. Some like to socialize others like to keep to themselves.

The neighborhood

If you like "space" you'll like it here. Houses in the neighborhood are all on 1 acre or more so no crowded feeling. We are in a cul-de-sac so there is virtually no traffic. Open space (Mt. Diablo) is just up the street. Awesome for biking (road or mountain) and hiking or running.

Getting around

We get a lot of inquiries from traveling nurses who work at John Muir hospital. We are about 3 miles from the hospital which can be reached by car or bicycle. There is a lovely paved bike path that starts near our house and ends at the hospital.

Other things to note

PLEASE UNDERSTAND WE USE AIRBNB BECAUSE RENTERS ARE PRESCREENED (Reviewed). We do NOT rent to people with incomplete profiles nor do we accept an inquiry for a person without a profile. Only the person shown is the one who can rent and we need to see a COMPLETE profile. Thank you.

I felt like I was in my home (but nicer) while I was staying here. Ron was very welcoming and encouraged me to be myself and not "tiptoe around". Ron and his wife are wonderful to talk to and I really enjoyed our chats when our breakfasts aligned. They made me feel welcome by respecting my privacy yet treating me like family in the common areas. They are very knowledgeable about the area, and about coffee, and many other things, and Ron even drew me a map of the neighborhood the night I arrived. If you love coffee, this is the place for you! Ron even let me keep my bike in the garage so it wouldn't get wet outside. The house is spacious with a large yard and pool. The kitchen was always clean, which is a plus since I cook a lot; I also had my own space in the fridge and pantry. The neighborhood is quiet and is in the Mt. Diablo foothills; the entrance to Mt. Diablo is within half a mile or so, and is a beautiful run or walk. The private room is a good size and is clean, with a large walk-in closet and a private bathroom with shower.

I switched air b&bs because I felt misled by the listing so I booked with Ron for a month. I instantly was much happier here and there was nothing misleading about his listing. Very nice couple who make me feel at home. I have plenty of privacy and really enjoyed my month stay so I extended another! Thanks for everything!

I had a wonderful stay at Ron's beautiful home. Ron immediately made me feel welcome as he showed me around the house. My room was exactly as advertised and Ron and his family welcomed me to use their kitchen. The location is serene which is exactly what I was looking for. I often sat outside in the mornings with a cup of coffee on the gorgeous patio! Thanks, Ron, for a great stay!

Ron was a very welcoming host, he met us (me and my husband) at a very late hour of the night, after a very tiring international flight. He showed us around the house and led us to our room. The rom was very cozy and comfortable and we had a very good rest. Morning coffee was great (Ron has a super espresso machine). To bad we had such a short stay, we wold very much love to have spent a few more days there. Thanks Ron.

Ron and his family made us feel right at home. The room was very nice and comfortable. This was our first time trying this so we really didn't know what to expect - we were pleased with the experience and would recommend this home to anyone wanting accommodations with a great family in a great setting - the house is beautiful and the neighbor hood is quite and secluded.

Response from Ron:
For anyone reading the outside entrance comment below; we have a large 2-story home and we sleep upstairs (the rental is downstairs). If you are entering and exiting normally (i.e. not slamming doors) sound does not travel upstairs so you will not disturb us. After a year of renting on Airbnb no one has ever disturbed us. We appreciate Don and Barb's concern and we know it's difficult for first-time Airbnbers (we did it too when we traveled our first time) to feel "at home" in a stranger's home so you end up being quieter than you might normally be. I assure you, if we thought we'd be disturbed we wouldn't rent. It's ok to be your normal self, you won't disturb us. My one disappointment with Don was I never heard him play his guitar. I always like to listen to a fellow acoustic guitar player at ANY time of the day! Maybe next time.

My husband and I were attending events in the Bay Area all weekend, so we decided to stay in Walnut Creek and BART where we needed to be. Ron's place was ideal for this. It had a removed feel, as it is on a nice piece of property, but convenient. Ron's home was more beautiful than the photos could convey. Our bed was comfortable, and it was awesome to leave the bedroom window open and listen to the crickets at night. Ron made us feel at home without being overbearing. He was accommodating about our arrival time, which was key for us. He cleared space in the fridge and on a shelf for us. My husband and I love animals, so one of our favorite features was his adorable cat, who was a love. We would stay there again and recommend it to anyone!

We had a great experience here. The house is as beautiful and clean as their listings display, and the room was spacious with a walk-in closet and private bathroom. There's a big window in the room that provides plenty of light and made it easy to adjust the temperature without having to use the house's thermostat. The kitchen had everything we needed (plus more), and Ron gave us a big section of space to use in the refrigerator and pantry. We didn't make much use of all the outdoor amenities, but the inside was already more than enough to enjoy our stay. Ron and his family were all very friendly and accommodating. He even offered to run an ethernet cable all the way down to the room in case the wireless was spotty. We are a quiet couple, and were worried about our first time staying at a B&B, but we didn't feel out of place and Ron adapted to give us the level of privacy we are more comfortable with. There's a lock inside the room, but we didn't feel the need to use it. The house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac in a beautiful neighborhood right next to a bunch of hiking trails by Mt. Diablo. The whole environment was peaceful. You can hear a rooster in the morning from far away (not enough to wake you). Also, their cat is adorable!
