Upscale neighborhood with underground utilities and sidewalks. Loop street limits drive by traffic.
There are bikes and we are walkng distance from town but are on a hill approx 1.5 miles from "Old Kona Town". A car is strongly suggested and parking is provided.
The apartment was fantastic. Bigger than what the photos imply. Cozy, it has every appliance we could possibly need. And every convenience. Rory even has snorkels, beach chairs and even a surf board! The neighborhood is quiet and residential, but close to the highway and shops so it was easy to move around, as long as you have a car. And the best for last, Rory himself. This man is a gem, a host of hosts, caring, friendly, not intrusive. His suggestions and his guide book (he leaves it at the nightstand with tons of personal recommendations) will be your compass for this amazing island. We had a great time in Big Island, and that is, in great measure to Rory and his apartment. Mahalo
Rory was a most welcoming host. He greeted us on arrival and provided us with terrific information, including travel guide and local tips. Rory also provides access to lots of other goodies, such as snorkelling gear, washing machine and a great bbq. The studio is exactly as described - we loved it especially the outdoor area with the geckos and Kuke the cat, who was always ready for a back rub and attention. The neighbourhood is really nice and peaceful. This is a brilliantly located studio. We would stay here again, especially as Rory takes special care of his guests - he is very kind and caring. Rory is wonderful - welcoming, kind, helpful - just a great guy!!!
The apt. is as described - comfortable, clean and easy to use. Also easy access into downtown Kailua-Kona, and Costco! and beaches to the north - Hapuna is my favorite. It was a pleasurable experience!!! Many thanks to Rory for making it so!!! Mahalo!!!!
Rory is a very nice host. He made us feel like the stay is our home. He also gave us alot of advice on not only kailua kona but also on the entire the big island. It is very good if you visit the island without specific plans. He would gladly help you on anything but he woudlnt bother you unless you ask for help.
The room is spacious, clean and well equiped. It is very close to kona town. Facilities such as boogie board, body guard and cooler box are also available. The neighborhood area is very quiet and peaceful.
We just felt like home! Everything was perfect. Rory welcomed us and showed us around and he was always there for our questions and talks about everything - the perfect host! The studio has everything and is very comfortable. The area is great too - close to Kailua and to beaches and a great base to explore the island. We would absolutely recommend the studio and Rory to everyone coming to Big Island.
Rory was a great host and top bloke. Accommodation is tidy and well setup. Rory was super flexible with our check in/out times and provided everything we needed from snorkelling gear, local advice and use of a really thorough and up to date big island guide book. Had a great time in Kona and on the big island in general. Stay here and do the evening Manta Ray snorkel, even if you can't swim.
