Chez JJ is a nice place to stay. Had the opportunity to meet and mingle with really nice people (fellow techies) over breakfast during my short stay, while attending a conference in Mountain View.
The neighbourhood is really nice and quiet too and Justin promptly answer some questions I had before my arrival.
Great place great people! The only thing that I would change are the bunk beds for more firm metal ones as its very easy to wake up the person beneath you because the beds move too much.
Great place to meet others interested in startups. Lots of open space both at the Mountain View and Menlo Park houses, which makes the place feel more like a home than a hostel.
All the Chez JJ houses are amazing, but the Mountain View location of this one makes it perfect. A nice 20 minute walk to downtown (Castro), a 5 minute stroll to the awesome Hacker Dojo coworking space, and not much effort by bike / public transport to anywhere else.
This has to be the first place you stay when you come to Mountain View.
My business partner stayed here and had a great experience.
Bright, cheery house with lots of entrepreneurial people dreaming up their own things. The bikes and fruit trees in the back give it a nice laid back atmosphere. It's welcoming and generally clean. The location is a little bit tucked away in a subdivision, but the benefit is that it's super close to YC and Hacker Dojo. I was easily able to walk to both.
My stay at Chez JJ was great! I was there with so many amazing people and all of us are applying to Y-Combinator. This is a great place to stay for any young entrepreneur in the early stages of their business.
Jade and Jocelyn have built a truly perfect spot for startups. The atmosphere is incredible. Fellow travellers are inspiring and make for great company. Everything was clean, well organised and geek friendly. Can't wait to be back.
Happy to stay here, even during the Beta period. By the time you're reading this, she should have turned it into quite the space - but even as they were setting up, they were very hospitable and thoughtful.
Chez JJ was an interesting place. Several young people live there on a relatively long term basis. There are bedrooms along the edge of the place and a main, central dining/kitchen area where everybody hangs out and chats while messing with their laptop.
The only downside was that everybody stayed up talking until like 3 in the morning, which was not what I was expecting. If you're a light sleeper it's not really feasible to go to sleep while people are still conversing in the main room. Then again, it was Friday night, so I can't really blame them. I just stayed up talking with them until people finally went to bed.
