About this listing
Welcome to Rev's basic and simple home, set on a beautiful acre of lush gardens but 5 minute walk to the heart of Port Antonio. He has rooms to rent which are basic and cheap but you get a rich cultural experience with a friendly and genuine host
3 bedrooms each have a double bed with mosquito net and fan, shared bathroom (COLD WATER ONLY like most Jamaican homes!! but if you would like a warm bucket bath you can heat up some water). Your welcome to use the kitchen facilities (these are basic and consist of a small stove, small fridge and basin out on the verandah), or can ask Rev to prepare one of his delicious Ital meals at a reasonable price, featuring fresh fish and lobster (when in season) from the bay.
Close to bars, restaurants and only 5 minute walk to town.
Close to main transport hub of town where where you can catch cheap route taxis to beautiful beaches and waterfalls this area is known for.
Other Things to Note
Being a local, Rev can offer good advice on what to do and see in the area and how to get there. He is also happy to be your 'guide' if you would like him to organise and join you for your adventures. This would be for a negotiated fee, as it can involve hiring drivers, and his time and knowledge.
To be understanding that we are an authentic Jamaican home, not a tourist hotel with mod cons, our prices reflect this. Jamaican homes come with some inconveniences like the water being turned off every Monday and Thursday evening, this is out of our control. We try to prepare for this by filling big buckets for bathing and flushing the toilet. The ongoing roadworks in the town also cause disruption of water supply with little warning to householders. Just remember...its all part of the adventure!!
Stayed for a night at Rev and Rini's. The accommodation's basic but had everything we needed. We hired a car so we had no problems getting around. The house is near the city center, and it's a safe stroll.
The balcony's a nice place to sit and sip freshly brewed coffee and watch locals go by. The garden radiates with positive vibes too. Rev and Rini are such wonderful folks, it was lovely having conversations with them.
Good option when traveling on a budget.
We really liked our stay with Rev and Rini, very relaxing and great food! Thank you
Rev and Rini were really kind, they help us with advices to go around the city and Rev cooked a delicious breakfast!
Nice little hostel, rooms basic but adequate. Hosts were helpful and friendly. Would recommend if you want good cheap accommodation.
We had such a nice stay with Rev and Rini. They are both very sweet and interesting people and made us feel like home.
My room was really confortable. The place is close to everything, in a nice area of Port Antonio. Rini is very welcoming and helfull and take care about the house.
Staying with Rev and Rini in Port Antonio was a dream! They are both so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I felt comfortable, extremely safe, and well taken care of in their home. The bedrooms are simple, clean, and comfortable with a nice big bed, a mosquito net, and a fan. The water turning off on Monday and Thursday nights is really just a part of the experience; they save up more than enough water to take bucket baths and to flush the toilets. Both Rev and Rini were available often to advise us about activities to do, how to get to places, what things should cost, etc, as well as to sit with as the sun goes down and share great conversation with. Do not pass up Revs cooking-- so fresh and absolutely delicious! I would recommend this Garden House to any adventurous traveler who is looking for extremely kind and fun people to stay with!

About the Host, Rastaman Rev And Rini
Rev is a rastaman who has lived his life in Port Antonio and its surrounds. He lives his religion and spending time with him is a very special experience as you can see from the reviews. He is also an amazing 'executive chef' and his beautiful voice is one of his gifts from Jah.
I am blessed to be his partner and spend time between my home in Australia, and with Rev in his home in Jamaica. I manage all the bookings and am in Australia at the moment, so there is a time difference, but I respond as soon as I wake up and see messages!!
