This is a real b&b, with a local family living in the attique floor. I grow up here. We offer 3 cosy rooms overlooking the canal, the church, clock tower and bridge, you can see the water life and at night feel the magic silence over Venice..

Marco, Alice, and their daughter Nina, who turned four while we were there, were very cordial and very helpful with restaurant recommendations and train reservations. Their English is very good, and they also speak French and perhaps other languages. The neighborhood is quiet and non-commercial, but is only a five minute walk from Piazza San Marco and the vaporetto stations.
We rented an apartment, which had a small kitchen, and a grocery store a one minute walk away enabled us to do some cooking at home.
I would caution prospective guests that B&B San Marco requires walking up four flights of stairs, but is well worth it.
The location of this B&B was excellent. It was a relatively short walk to the main square but just away enough to get away from the crowds and experience an authentic feeling Venice. The neighborhood was actually recommended by guidebooks to simply walk around in because of its charm. Marco and Alice were friendly and hospitable. They checked in with us and were helpful with their recommendation and suggestions. Marco suggested some places to eat, one restaurant of which turned out to be the best meal of our time in Venice. Alice made us cappuccino one morning and showed us how Italian cappuccino is made by hand! The quiet canal was wonderful to return to each night and we enjoyed our view. The room itself was lovely and charming. It had a slightly vintage look with a lot of character. One thing that surprised us were the thin Venetian towels. They almost looked like large dinner napkins, however, they were surprisingly absorbent and at the end we wondered where we could buy towels like that. The bathroom is on the smaller side but it worked for us. The B&B is located up 4 flights of stairs and you do have to cross a couple bridges with your stuff as most likely you will anywhere in Venice so pack lightly. All in all it was an enjoyable stay and my husband and I would stay there again. Two thumbs up!
We had a wonderful stay at Marco and Alice's BnB. The directions were handy, the room was large and we loved he view of the canal. It was so beautiful and just what we were after. We enjoyed chatting with the hosts and having a cappuccino in the mornings. We would recommend this place!!!
We were very lucky to enjoy Venise with such a charming host. Looking forward to go back !

Marco was an amazing host. Really enjoyed the personal service and quality time he afforded us. This is a true BNB. From teaching my wife how to make real cappuccino to local restaurants that were 10's. God willing we will be back to visit our friend Marco and Venice again real soon!
