Rent this room in a modern row home directly across from Balboa Park in the Bankers Hill neighborhood. Within ten minutes of the San Diego airport, this location is the most accessible to all of the San Diego experiences. Walk fifteen minutes to downtown, or just two blocks to the major north/south bus route between the Gaslamp District and the Hillcrest Neighborhood. This makes it convenient for you to spend an evening in either of these famous locales. Or you can take your time exploring the ten museums as well as theatres and restaurants in Balboa Park.
The Bankers Hill area is now home to winebars and a variety of resturants for you to choose each evening. You will feel right at home in this walkable neighborhood when you aren't looking for a night on the town.
A private bedroom on the third floor provides direct access to the guest bathroom. The queensized bed and ample storage makes this perfect for a single night or a weeklong retreat.
Nice clean (website hidden) access very limited. Missed the Oscars.
Dana and Chris were very friendly and we had both privacy and a nice talk in between. The location is pretty good, you can walk through the park to the San Diego Zoo or any museum. Everything was nice and super clean! Thanks for the tip with the macy's card for the museum month! We can definitely recommend this place!
Great location, right opposite of the Balboa Park! Great for running, museums and visiting San Diego Zoo! Room and private bathroom were super clean! Communication with Dana was easy and fast!
My stay with Dana was lovely. The room and bathroom were clean and neat -- true to the pictures and description on the Airbnb site. There were thoughtful touches -- such as a small basket of shampoos, soaps, etc. in the bathroom, and a selection of San Diego guidebooks and maps -- which were very helpful. The neighborhood was really great -- way quieter and mellower than the not-too-distant downtown/gaslamp district, but still many options for food & drink. Being right on the edge of Balboa park was great -- easy access for running and long walks! The guestroom itself has a nice view of the park.
Dana and Chris are very nice, their house locate by a beautiful park, the guest room is so clean and comfortable. They provide San Diego map and tours guide are very helpful. Thanks a lot for the advice of parking notice and the post stamp!
Dana and Cook were both fantastic hosts. The unit was tidy, close to town, and exactly as advertised. I would certainly stay here again.
Our experience at Dana' home was wonderful. A very clean house, and very comfortable. Their dog is so cute. They gave us a lot of advices about the restaurants close to the home. And help us because we got a ticket. You can go to Downtown by feet (10min), and park your car in front of the house for free very easily.
Also, you don't need key to enter, it's very convenient.
Dana's place is conveniently located right beside the beautiful Balboa park, which made it easy to hop across the street and take a walk! We never met Dana, but we met her daughter, who was very nice! Communication with Dana was easy and the house guidelines were laid out nicely when we walked in. The bathroom was small but clean and had extra toiletries (soaps, shampoos, creams, etc) readily available.
The only issue we had was that, even though it indicated on the profile that the place had A/C, it must not have been turned on and it was VERY warm and humid. The windows were already open (another hint that the A/C wasn't running) and we had to leave them open that night, which made for a noisy sleep because the condo is really close to the airport and right below the landing flight-path.
Enjoyed my brief one night stay at Dana and Chris's place. The room is very modern, neat and comfortable, has a good ceiling fan and awesome ventilation and overlooks the edges of Balboa Park. There is a peaceful area out the back to sit in and enjoy a few drinks at the end of the day. Communication prior to check-in was excellent and actual checking in a breeze. The house is also conveniently located to public transport, it's so easy to get around SD without a car.
I would just have two things to advise though and that is firstly there is a flight of stairs leading up to the front door (approximately 10-12 of them) and then another flight of stairs to get up to the room so I would not recommend this to anybody with moderate-severe mobility issues. Also, the house does sit on the fringes of the incoming landing flight path for San Diego airport. I personally wasn't too bothered by it but if you are a light sleeper or easily disturbed then it may be an issue.
Overall though I would definitely recommend you give the place a go. It is comfortable and inviting, situated in a great neighborhood and way better value than the overpriced hotels.
Very clean, comfortable room, gracious unimposing hosts.
Wonderful location close to downtown, airport and beaches and Balboa Park.
