Because the apartment is cut into the natural sandstone rock - there is generally a different climate - cooler than outside in summer & warmer than outside in winter. It can be a humid in the apartment after rain however we have two dehumidifiers if the humidity becomes uncomfortable.
The natural sandstone rock is designed to allow the ground water that naturally comes out of the rock run down over the face of the sandstone and drains to a catchment drain where it is pumped away to the outside. A pump system is also used to remove the shower, toilet, kitchen & washing machine waste water to the outside drainage and system.

In times of heavy rain the apartment can be humid and may not be the best choice for those who suffer from Asthma.

  • Throughly enjoyed the whole experience of staying in Bondi for 2 weeks and found the apartment to be exactly as described. It was clean, well maintained and John and his family could not have been more helpful, welcoming and friendly. They lent us beach towels, bodyboards and rash vests so we could experience Bondi's surf and gave recommendations of places to go and things to do locally. The location was absolutely excellent and as described in that it was minutes for the coast path, Tamarama and Bondi beaches and with public transport on the doorstep. The coffee shop opposite, post office and little local store across the street were all very handy. I would not hesitate to come back to Sandstone Apartment if I am ever lucky enough to visit Bondi again. Fingers crossed!

  • Hi All

The location is fantastic for Bondi enthusiasts. The theme of the apartment is very creative and John and Mitch (his son) are warm and welcoming hosts. Altogether I had a very relaxed stay with all my needs met. Thanks John and Mitch.

  • We had a fantastic stay at John's apartment. The apartment is spacious and well equipped, and was immaculately clean when we arrived. If anything it is even better than the photos suggest! John is a really friendly host, we especially loved the fact he left a little welcome note for us. The location is AMAZING. We would definitely stay here again.

  • John and Mitch (his son) are both very friendly and welcoming hosts. John was so kind he left us a carton of milk as we were arriving so late that I wouldn't have had time to pick up milk for my morning coffee. My husband is a builder and he was very interested in how the Sandstone apartment was constructed so when we arrived John brought photos down of the construction! It's these little extras that make this stay so special. The apartment is neat and spacious. All the furniture was comfortable & the bathroom is lovely, I loved the wet room idea. Location is fantastic we walked slowly down to Bondi Beach within 5-10mim and even met a few of the lifeguards from the Aussie TV show "Bondi Rescue." There was no tv in the apartment which was slightly disappointing, we luckily had our laptop and found a DVD rental kiosk up the road. Apart from that excerpting else was perfect.

  • Sandstone Apartment was unique and a perfect spot for our family in Bondi. John and his family were very accommodating and the use of the fins and boogie boards for the kids was amazing. Bondi beach was a highlight for the kids, it was good value for the location, and the coffee and food at the M Cafe was the icing on the cake!

  • Thank you John and family for an amazing stay! My parents and I truly loved it! The place and location were just perfect and you were also so welcoming and helpful. If anyone is reading this review, please book with John! We couldn't have booked a more perfect place!

  • John was very friendly and informative. He made himself available for questions as well as meeting our individual needs. The location is close to the Bondi Beach as well as other beaches by an enjoyable walk at the beach front. The living room is quite large, nice size kitchen and one bedroom and bathroom. Hide a beds are available for kids. About 40 min. ride by bus to Sydney, so easy to enjoy the beach as well as Sydney area. Read John's description of the apartment carefully so you understand the uniqueness of it.

  • We had a marvellous time at John's place. Everything is decorated with so much love. My favourite piece is the wooden whale. John is the perfect host. We will surely go back again.
If you love being close to Bondi Beach, but nevertheless be private without to many people around ya, this is the place you should stay.

    Will be back soon.

  • We were just happy and greatful for having found the perfect place to stay for our family (2 adults, 2 small schildren). Everything we needed or asked for was provided and even more. John and his family were wonderful, perfect hosts, who made us feel very much at home, especially our kids who rather wanted to stay with the Fallons...The appartment is spacious, great kitchen and good double bed. We loved the atmosphere of the sandstone. Perfect bus connection to anywhere we wanted to go, great cafe, restaurant and shopping possibilities in walking distance. Spent time at very close Bondi and Tamarama Beach where we could walk easily even with our small kids. We would LOVE to come back...
