About the Apartment
-We have three cheerful, no-fuss, second-floor apartments, each one-bedroom, one-bathroom in a growing, but quiet, arts district.
-The restaurant, Spinster Sisters is on the first floor, and does a fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner.
-The corner apartment has Eastern and Northern and exposure and is slightly larger than the other two units. All three apartments have large, picture frame windows and loads of light.
-The 1920's building is very well-maintained, hardwoods floors throughout, all original fixtures and moldings. The apartments are sparsely furnished, each with full bed, stocked kitchen (tools/cookware) and full bath. They are decorated with contemporary artworks and posters.
-The apartments are well insulated sound wise, but there is ambient noise from the highway.
-No A/C, no TV.
-There is ample street parking.
Perfect for cyclists enjoying SoCo; there's room in each apartment to store two bikes, maybe three. There is a floor pump available.
About the Area
SOFA (South of A Street) is home to Santa Rosa's arts community. The apartment is located between several points of interest (see map for guidebook) but is in a residential and peaceful neighborhood. Picturesque Julliard Park is a block down the street. An .8 mi bike ride/walk away is the Fourth Street shopping and restaurant district which includes the well-known Russian River Brewery. Locally-owned Atlas Coffee shop is one block away. Historic and quaint Railroad Square offers more restaurants (American, Thai, wine bars) and speciality shopping, like antiques. Dierk's Parkside restaurant, with its great brunch, is a few blocks away.
Things To Do
You can be sipping and cycling within a few miles of leaving South A Street. Walk two blocks north from the apartment and you are on the 22 mi. long Prince Memorial Greenway, which runs along the Santa Rosa Creek as far as Sebastopol. It is as perfect for exercise as it is for taking short or long explorations to other destinations in the area. Visit the Sonoma County wineries by bike throughout Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys. Do the incredibly scenic 50 mi. loop to Occidental and back. I'm happy to share any info on the area, just let me know what you'd like to do during your stay.

Eric made my stay very easy and simple. I arrived to a very private and very clean downtown apt. The location was very conviently located on a quiet downtown street. The restaurant Located below was very tasty.
Cute, simple apartment in a convenient location. Loved being upstairs from the super-tasty Spinster Sisters, easy walking distance from plenty of other food/beverage options, and a quick drive from other area attractions.
Another great stay! Eric was an excellent host of an apartment with charm and utility. Would definitely stay here again!
Eric was a great host....very easy to communicate with. Place was in a great location, and just as described and pictured. Very clean, very well priced, and we loved the art. It was so convenient being right above such a great restaurant; we ate there for dinner and then the next day for breakfast. Thanks so much!
Had no problems finding the apt, finding parking or getting in. Having lived in Santa Rosa in 05-07, I was a bit worried about finding street parking, but there were no issues the entire weekend. Place was clean, bright and airy. Lots of windows. Neat old bldg - my kind of place. Great neighborhood - art galleries and some shops. Highly recommend underground baking company for bf or lunch. Description of apt and environs are accurate in airbnb ad. There was wifi so that was helpful. I could stream npr on Sat and Sun.
As an AirBnB host I know what it takes to get good reviews from guests-- first impressions. I was hoping that Eric was similar to me but I was wrong. I felt that attention to detail was subpar. The location of the apartment was good but it was clear to me that the room was not cleaned prior to my arrival, which made my experience less than ideal. Even after contacting the host he made no effort to correct the problem. I identified (and took photos of) long hairs in the bathroom sink and even a few in the bed! Also as the bed sheet was crumpled together it was clear to me that someone had already slept in my bed.
I certainly hope that this was an isolated incident but even if it was I would have expected the host to make more of an effort to correct the problem. Any attempt to come by the apartment and clean up would have been appreciated. However, nothing was done. I cannot recommend this apartment to others. I certainly hope that other guests have better experiences than I had.
Perfect place to stay while buzzing around Sonoma county wine tasting! Simple, clean and comfy bed. It's central, parking is easy. Barebones, so bring the necessities (blow dryer, Iron). Get breakfast or dinner downstairs at the Spinster Sisters, it's amazing!
