About the Apartment
-We have three cheerful, no-fuss, second-floor apartments, each one-bedroom, one-bathroom in a growing, but quiet, arts district.
-The restaurant, Spinster Sisters is on the first floor, and does a fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner.
-The corner apartment has Eastern and Northern and exposure and is slightly larger than the other two units. All three apartments have large, picture frame windows and loads of light.
-The 1920's building is very well-maintained, hardwoods floors throughout, all original fixtures and moldings. The apartments are sparsely furnished, each with full bed, stocked kitchen (tools/cookware) and full bath. They are decorated with contemporary artworks and posters.
-The apartments are well insulated sound wise, but there is ambient noise from the highway.
-No A/C, no TV.
-There is ample street parking.
Perfect for cyclists enjoying SoCo; there's room in each apartment to store two bikes, maybe three. There is a floor pump available.
About the Area
SOFA (South of A Street) is home to Santa Rosa's arts community. The apartment is located between several points of interest (see map for guidebook) but is in a residential and peaceful neighborhood. Picturesque Julliard Park is a block down the street. An .8 mi bike ride/walk away is the Fourth Street shopping and restaurant district which includes the well-known Russian River Brewery. Locally-owned Atlas Coffee shop is one block away. Historic and quaint Railroad Square offers more restaurants (American, Thai, wine bars) and speciality shopping, like antiques. Dierk's Parkside restaurant, with its great brunch, is a few blocks away.
Things To Do
You can be sipping and cycling within a few miles of leaving South A Street. Walk two blocks north from the apartment and you are on the 22 mi. long Prince Memorial Greenway, which runs along the Santa Rosa Creek as far as Sebastopol. It is as perfect for exercise as it is for taking short or long explorations to other destinations in the area. Visit the Sonoma County wineries by bike throughout Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys. Do the incredibly scenic 50 mi. loop to Occidental and back. I'm happy to share any info on the area, just let me know what you'd like to do during your stay.

Awesome place in downtown Santa Rosa!! Close enough to walk and shop., yet in its own little world. I highly recommend this place for a very neat getaway!
Wonderful apartment, easy check-in process. Great location with a great restaurant below the apartment. Eric was a great host and answered all of our questions about the apartment and the surrounding area. We will definitely be back!
Great location above a wonderful restaurant that you might not find if you weren't living above it!
Comfortable and accommodating.
We really enjoyed our stay at the appartment, spending some time in Armstrong Redwoods State Park, visiting nearby Petaluma and enjoying some fine wine from the area.
The Spinster Sisters (restaurant on ground floor of the same building) is simply amazing, be sure to check it out.
Great place in a great neighborhood within easy walking distance of downtown Santa Rosa. Nice park and cool coffee shop nearby. Also, a truly excellent restaurant (Spinster Sisters) directly below. We had brunch there both days. Hosts were very responsive, and check-in and check-out were as simple as can be.
This is a great location for convenience to downtown with plenty of room in a great old building. The one drawback was that it is above a restaurant and if you retire before 10 PM the noise can be an issue.
Hosts: Friendly, warm, prompt
Lovely apartment: spacious, bright, clean
Amazing location. It was fast & easy to cycle into town (0.2 miles).
Restaurant below. The food downstairs was extremely delicious & so convenient. The garbanzo appetizer blew my mind away. They close up around 10pm (in case you're worried about noise or looking for a place to eat around 9pm)
We'll be back :)
This place is coming together slowly under recent new ownership. The apartment, while it is located near a busy freeway, is more than adequate for an overnight stay at a reasonable price.
This location was perfect for our travels! Clean, spacious, airy, and unique. After settling in from our 7 hr drive, this spot was exactly what we needed. I don't think I've ever slept in a more comfortable bed! With the spare time we had, we were able to visit some local Santa Rosa businesses; everything was within walking distance, from the coffee shop, bike shop, and record store we visited. Wish we could've stayed longer and experienced more of the charm that Santa Rosa had to offer. If we ever get the chance, we will be back again!
We went up to Santa Rosa for a weekend trip of cycling, and this place served as the perfect base for us. It is convenient located near highways and also very close to bike trails. Downtown restaurants are also within walking distance. It is exactly what we expected and we would like to stay there again on our next cycle trip in the wine country.
