House Rules

1) Have fun, and use common sense. From my experience people are courteous and considerate when staying with me. I want people to be happy here and haven't found the need to lay down any specific rules. Guests here are given access to the front door anytime they want day or night so please just be quite if coming late. If you drive don't block the neighbors driveway etc. Just common sense stuff like that. So back to the first thing. Have Fun. Austin is great town to let your hair down in. There are more Restaurants bars and shops than you could see in a month near by. And you can walk to all of them if you don't mind using your feet. So enjoy!

Nice host with good response, but probably our worst Airbnb experience. Host double booked (how does THAT happen), then put us in a different room each night (in fairness, he did call to disclose this). The electrical in the Master Bath does not have GFI's (safety issue). The plumbing is poorly done (no water pressure, slow flow, and not vented properly so it smells around the toilet in BOTH rooms we stayed in, one with the toilet close to our bed), and the rain showerhead that was pictured didn't even work. The second room we were in has wood flooring laid in pieces so you can easily stub your toe around the shower, and the toilet is on a platform (to fit the plumbing). The drywall is poorly done (no taping, just raw edges), as well as all the trim. The shower rod was hanging onto the wall with a screw that protrudes 2 inches (this was mentioned in a review 16 months ago). The door needed to be lifted when opening, because it's not properly mounted, and the hole in the drywall lets light in from the first floor. Besides all that, the wifi is slow and sometimes intermittent. I should have known better, being that the host is a photographer and the photos aren't good enough to show the quality (or lack thereof). All in all, the location is great--but the smell kept us wanting to stay on our friends sofa.

I stayed one night in the baby suite and best thing about Matt's place is definitely location! Tons of restaurants, bars and quirky shops one block away. The bed in the baby suite is super comfy and I was grateful to have my own bathroom in the room. Communication could have been a little better with Matt as I arrived to the house without check-in directions, but luckily there was a nice person who also was staying at the house who let me in. I did hear from Matt once I got in, so everything worked out fine. Just would have been nice to have the info before arrival. Other than that little blip, it's a great place to stay if you want to be near the action in Austin. The room was private and quiet.

I definitely enjoyed my stay at Matt's BnB. After initial confusion with obtaining the correct key for my room, everything went smooth. It was great being so close to the action as well as having access to the great kitchen and back patio area.

Matt was very easy to communicate with, and check in / check out couldn't have been smoother. The location of the house is fantastic--a quiet street just off of the bustling part of Congress. The bed was also the most comfortable bed we've slept in outside of our own bed at home. We had a great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay! The room was very cozy/clean and we were just a few blocks away from some of my favorite bars/cafes/record stores in Austin. Easy cab ride to downtown (it's walkable if you're feeling ambitious) and the bad-assest looking Torchy's Tacos I've ever seen in my life is being built just around the corner from the house :)

Although we didn't get to meet Matt, he was extra helpful in the reservation process and choosing the right room for our weekend in Austin. The house is beautiful, well kept and perfectly located in the SOCO district. The room was VERY clean and comfortable...and we traveled with our 3 month baby. It met all of our expectations. We had a wonderful weekend!

Again Matt was very easy to deal with. Our accommodations were exactly as expected. Will definitely revisit his place when back in Austin.

I live in Austin Texas but grew up in Eugene Oregon. I've lived in Colorado for many years and Asia for two years. I'm a photographer, a skier, a cyclist and a climber who loves the mountains. Traveling and meeting interesting new people is my favorite part of life. Airbnb is a great way to make both things happen. I'm always happy to meet other travels and swap stories even if you're not staying with me. I've lived in Austin for a long time and know it well if you're looking for advice.
I keep my house pretty nice but love to rough it when I travel. My favorite places are Haiti, China, India and Eastern Europe.
We're not here for a long time, so we might as well be here for a good time.
