Thank you for hosting me in your very conveniently located and comfy apartment.
All My Best,
A huge apartment in a great location (email hidden). However, there was hardly any decoration, no WiFi and only five minutes of hot water ( a problem with three people)
The studio was in a very convenient location and was generally adequate. It is pretty small but we didn't do much other than sleep here. We had already been traveling before we got to Rome, so the firm king size bed was great! Like other reviewers mentioned, it can be quite noisy during the day and night since it's on the ground level and on the corner of the street. However, we slept with some white noise from my phone and were completely fine.
The host recommended that we turn the hot water heater on about 15 minutes before we took a shower, but we found the heater needed at least an hour or more to finally have warm water. Once it did get warm, it did not last very long; we found ourselves bathing and washing with the water turned off and only rinsing with warm water, and even then we had to make sure the shower pressure was turned low to conserve the warm water. From talking with other friends who were visiting Rome, this doesn't seem to be out of the ordinary for showers so just have this expectation before you go.
The hosts were very nice and helpful. Lisa provided restaurant recommendations, had coffee for us to make in the morning, and offered to transport us to and from the airport. We had some communication issues upon arrival because I didn't have an international phone plan and could only communicate via wifi. The amenities listed for this apartment include wireless internet, but Lisa only mentioned free wifi in the Trastevere area that we were unable to find. This was inconvenient as we needed to find cafes with free wifi to have any email communication. The amenities listed also include A/C, which we were never able to turn on.
The neighborhood of Trastevere is definitely one for the locals. If you want to feel like you're a real Roman, stay here and rub elbows with the Italians. The neighborhood has a hipster feel to it which we enjoyed, but I could see others wanting a more manicured/touristy area to stay.
It's the first time in 20 years of travelling that I found myself dealing with such an uneducated host. We are new with the airbnb service, and we really had a big disappointment due to the lack of professionalism and awful customer service.
Check-in was agreed at 12:30/13 hs. Once we were able to use the phone, at 14 hs. we got in touch with the contact reference person, a lady called Mirella, in order to communicate we were going to be late (I don't know if this information was then communicated to the host).
When we arrived to the appartment, this lady told us we were obliged to pay 28 Eur, without giving clear explanations. She called the host, Mrs Ma. Rita, who treated us with disrespect, raising her voice and saying all kind of aggressive words, saying that if we did not agree, we shall leave the appartment.
We really could not believe what was happening, it's the first time as customers that we receive such a terrible treatment. If it wouldn't have been paid in advance, we would have gone without hesitation.
Nevertheless, the appartment is very nice, it was clean, well equiped, with the exception that it does not have any oven or microwave.
On the other hand, the neighborhood is horrible, dirty, close to a railway station. It's (email hidden), but is confortable for visiting the Vatican.
We had a great time here and our hosts were super. They got in touch beforehand and gave us good directions on how to get from the airport to the flat, and were in text contact on the day as we made our way across Rome. Lisa, who met us, speaks good English, and was very friendly and helpful. It was really reassuring to know that if we had any problems we could just text her (not that we needed to).
The flat is a studio with bathroom, suitable for a couple. The kitchen area has a fridge, and two electric hobs, and there is a small range of cooking and coffee making equipment (no kettle). The bathroom has a large shower and the water temperature and pressure is good (you need to switch on the water heater 15 minutes before hand). The bed is very firm (which we liked) and there's a wardrobe, and a table and chairs. It's simple, and small, but had all we needed.
Because the flat is at street level (don't worry about security - the windows and doors all lock really well), on the corner of two streets, it's quite noisy - it's not a place for a long lie in! We didn't mind because we were up early every day to see Rome, and the location is perfect. Given the location and price, the flat is good value. Trastevere is a lovely area and we walked everywhere from here. In the evening there are great cafes and bars locally, and Fior di Luna ice cream (5 mins away) is glorious.
The hostess is very polite. I really had a good time in Rome. Thank you. Everything was as promised earlier.
1. Good Location. Near the Vatican. Nearby is a bus stop 64 and N5 to Termini, also railway stop St. Peter is near. SIT bus go through Vatican from Fiumicino Airport.
2. Very comfortable apartment, bright and (website hidden) the morning, very nice to go out on the balcony to hear the bells ringing. Neat and clean hall and lift. Nearby there are several restaurants and shops.
Food for Thought:
1. Proximity to the St. Peter stop causes periodic noise from the trains. Close the window to make it is not audible.
I recommend this apartment for those who love comfort and planning a visit Vatican. Personally, I was pleased to go through St. Peter every day.
The reservation was canceled 6 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This flat is perfect for a couple. It is clean, charming and correctly equipped. Being at the ground floor and the corner of the street, it is a bit noisy. It is located in a lovely area near a lot of restaurants and nice shops.
Anna, who welcomed us, is a nice and easy-going host. She answered all our questions and was ponctual.
