Beautiful open concept home in the village of Punta Banco, just steps from the ocean. Quiet setting, ocean view, nature, wildlife, and world class surfing!
Welcome to a beautiful recently built open-air concept home.
The design is by no means rustic, however, this is not a luxury home. It is simple, well finished and clean with 2 comfortable double beds, and one single bed. A well equipped kitchen opens onto a large deck with ocean view. There is no air conditioning as the entire home is open air. Showers are clean and tiled and offer a non-heated refreshing spring water experience.
The house is a 100m walk from the ocean, surrounded by great wildlife and backed by forest.
Please note, due to the high deck, the house is not suitable for people with young children who do not have an awareness of heights. The balcony railings could be climbed through.
The house comes all set with linens, towels, full kitchen and accessories, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a large open air deck to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
Interaction with Guests
The house will be cleaned and opened up for your arrival. You can arrange to hire an excellent local cook to prepare meals for you at a very reasonable rate. Should you wish, additional cleanings can also be arranged. A contact person will be available to assist you should you have any questions.
This part of Costa Rica is for people who want to get away from the regular tourist trappings and really enjoy the beauty and nature of the country. We took all the photos in this posting and all were taken within 100M of the house!
The village of Punta Banco is small and includes several small grocery stores and a Soda (family run restaurant). Wireless internet is available for purchase at the Soda. Some of the activities in the area include surfing, hiking, snorkeling, horseback riding yoga biking and swimming in the local rivers.
Punta Banco is virtually the last stop on the bus route South from Golfito past Pavones. One can take the bus, a taxi from Golfito ($100US) or drive the route oneself.
This outdoor, open concept home allows for a feel that cannot be gained by many other rental properties/cabins in the area. Having stayed here for four weeks, the concept of this home gave me a chance to see the wildlife and comforts that true Costa Rica has to offer. The location of this rental is key, it is in the middle of the village area with the beach and corner stores just steps away. Punta Banco is a sleepy beach village where relaxation is a top priority.
Mark quickly responds to all messages while his house/groundskeeper was very welcoming and friendly despite the lack of a spanish and english language barrier.
You can stop looking around. This place is everything you need in Punta Banco. The well manicured open design makes you a part of the jungle surrounding while the location makes you part of the lazy village vibe.
You can spot the good surf from the open terrace or take your morning stroll to Pavones point. The place is open and has all the bits and bobs you need to make your stay comfortable. I woulds stay again, thats why we extended our stay with 4 days.
Great location and the perfect design.
This place makes you feel one with the jungle by its open design and part of the mini village its in by the welcoming neighbors. The house views a good surf-spot and its a short drive to pavones peak. The home is brand new and well equipped for some serious cooking.
Mark was an excellent host - he was very quick to respond to all of our questions and provided us with very detailed information about the area including where to go for activities and how to navigate the back roads!
His house is exactly as described and was a beautiful and relaxing retreat from our busy lives. We opened up every window in the house to let the sounds and fresh air come in - at night it felt like we were camping in the middle of the jungle, but always felt safe. The house is well off the beaten path and takes some time to travel to, however, once you arrive you can enjoy being part of a small community far from any tourism.
There are a number of yoga studios around (closest one is only accessible by walking and took about 30 minutes) and a surf camp about 15 minutes walking from the house. We were glad to have rented a car since there are a few good restaurants in the area but would be a bit far to walk at night. Our nights were spent hanging out in the hammock, reading, chatting, and playing games - you need to get creative since the night life in Punta Banco is much more quiet than in a tourist town. Some of the restaurants were moderately busy at night and helped us exercise our social side when the sun went down.
Overall, great experience. I would highly recommend checking out the surf camp (Rancho Burica)- I'm told they have some of the best surfing in Pavones.
Thank you Mark for having given us such a beautiful, comfortable and overall cool place to stay. The house was fantastic! Very Safe, open house, right near the beach and town. Great view too!
Everyone loved the lay out of this place and we can't thank you enough....we hope to stay again at your place. Equipped with all the amenities needed.
We are an artistic, nature and adventure loving family. We love animals and outdoor activities. We enjoy authentic travel experiences away from touristic locations. We hope to provide the same for our guests!
