About this listing
This is a charming renovated old Mexican house.
There are 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 4 patios and 2 porches. The spectacular views are of the entire city. Full dine-in kitchen and living room. The price listed is per room, 2 person per room.
This old house is exactly a 10 minute walk to the Jardin (center of town), a 3 minute walk to the food and artisans market. Patios have tables for eating and/or laptop, hammocks for lounging,
Hand painted tile kitchen has a large table for family or to share with other guests. This is a "put your feet on the coffee table" house
Kitchen, living room, patios and porches are communal.
Interaction with Guests
I live next door so guests may have as much interaction with me as they like. It's also easy to walk over to my house with the same views.
Sunset wine and watching the city lights come on is pretty much the evening event.
This a working class neighborhood. There is still a daily milk truck, sometimes donkeys delivering wood, boys may play futbol in the street. Since it's so close to both the Market and the Centro it's easy to walk everywhere. Since the house is yours, you may feel right at home.
Public buses are a few blocks away, taxis are easy to get either in front of the house or down my the market. There is street parking, usually right in front of the house. Locked parking is a block and a half away. There are vans and buses from the various airports. I help to arrange that if needed.
Other Things to Note
I have lived in San Miguel for 15 years so I have some knowledge of the town and am available to help and share what I know.
I want guests to feel comfortable and at home. Well behaved kids are welcome. It's a quiet area (except for the roosters) so loud music is not acceptable. As in any home, keep it tidy for yourself and others.
Well behaved, non barking pets are allowed and smoking outside only.
Joyce is an awesome host. The space is fabulous. Situated in a great area not far from the action of San Miguel. Second time staying with her, and, we will stay there next time, too.
She is such a lovely person, made us feel very special. The first thing she did when we got to her place was to share a bottle or wine, some snacks and we had a very nice conversation. She make sure we had everything we could possibly need and left things ready to have a nice cup of coffee next morning. Definitely we would recommend her and we hope to see her soon!
Joyce and Casa Tecolote were my first experience with Airbnb. It could not have been better. I had made other lodgings for a big holiday weekend there in San Miguel and they fell apart at the very last minute. Joyce was immediately understanding and helpful and I was so relieved to have found a place that was nice and convenient. Of course, while the house is wonderful, Joyce is the star. She is what any host should be - both helpful and interesting. I plan on returning with my partner!
Joyce was there to greet me upon my arrival and instantly made me feel welcome. The place was exactly as pictured only far more charming. It was within easy walking distance of the Centro, shopping, markets and churches. Everyone staying at Joyce's was extremely friendly and we all got on great.
Joyce fue flexible (en la hora de llegada) y hospitalaria (puso la calefacción en un día lluvioso y frío, guardó lugar para estacionarnos frente a la casa). No tuvimos ningún inconveniente. Gracias.
This is a great place to stay in SMA. The location is very good. The house is beautiful and clean, there is everything you need to have a good stay. Joyce is great, she's very kind. We will look for this place if we go back to SMA.
I now have a home away from home AND family away from family. Joyce is just wonderful. She's a firecracker and a fantastic hostess. I felt comfortable instantly and had a hard time saying goodbye. I will forever be dreaming of evenings on the rooftop with a glass of wine and the San Miguel skyline twinkling below.
