Close to it all, yet off the beaten path & just a couple blocks from downtown. Kitchen, dinning room with farmhouse table that seats 8+, Bathroom with shower & vintage style tub, living room & master bedroom also on main floor. Upstairs offers 2 additional rooms & sleeping space! Yard with grill & deck to enjoy! 3 bikes available for use!
Need more space for your group?! We now also own Jimmy's Place - located just 2 houses down and around the corner and can sleep another 8 people!

The space
PLEASE NOTE - like most homes in the downtown area of Grand Haven this house is over 100 years old, which means lots of character and a great location but also means things like steeper stairs, upstairs has a gabled roof, radiator heating which means window AC units not central air and while the kitchen is otherwise fully equipped there is no dishwasher. We hope to show as much about the house in the photos and descriptions as possible and please don't hesitate to ask more questions. Also as listed we do not have cable TV - but do have an older TV with a DVD player and do have Wifi. Our hope is that you will take advantage of time spent with others, enjoy our puzzles, games, books and creating memories together! The cottage is primarily a weekly summer vacation rental between mid June and labor day weekend. We are more than willing to do shorter stays (2+ nights) in the winter, spring and fall and there is the option of month to month off season only as well! At height of summer we have a 4+ night minimum. Please feel free to inquire about other options as well!

So close to the waterfront, shops, parks and more but our street tends to be pretty peaceful and quiet! Escape the summer crowds while you sit on the deck and most nights can softly hear the musical fountain from there!

A Colorado native who loves community, travel, photography, hiking and time spent with family and friends. Owner of Ruth's Retreat since 2012 and Jimmy's Place in 2022 which are both located in my dad's home town of Grand Haven, MI where I spent some time every summer growing up. Ruth's is named after my Grandma Ruth who lived most of her life in Grand Haven and was also my best friend growing up! Jimmy's is named after my Dad who loved coming back to MI in recent years to stay at Ruth's, work on the house and visit family and friends. He passed away in 2021, so Jimmy's place is now a fitting tribute to his legacy and located just around the corner from Ruth's. My mom and I still come out often and look forward to each of our "work visits" that also include lots of sweet memories with family and friends. We hope your visit to Ruth's or Jimmy's will be just as special!

On the flip side love staying in AirBnB's whenever I travel! Get to stay in areas of town you wouldn't find a hotel, meet wonderful local people, make a last minute trip when hotels might already be booked, get great local recommendations and truly experience the culture and community!

During your stay

While I adore Grand Haven I don't live there, but certainly love my working vacations when I come to stay at the house! I am always available through AirBnB and by phone. We have wonderful family friends who are local and manage the house as well. They are also available during your stay if something comes up!
