Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people and I'm happy to chat, but I also am very conscious of a guest's need for space and privacy.
It's a quiet, country neighbourhood, very close to a beautiful stretch of the Liffey. It was formerly an old demesne and there are great stands of mature trees - chestnut, lime, beech and sycamore. Guest might enjoy fishing or walking the fields and the canal.
Public transport runs from Sallins (2 kms) or Clane (3 kms). The Arrow train service to Newbridge, Kildare town, Celbridge and Dublin runs from Sallins, and there is an hourly bus service from Clane to Dublin. Lifts are provided to and from these villages by the host.
We loved our stay at Emer's place. The gardens are gorgeous, our room was nice, and we had our own bathroom, which was very pleasant. Emer provided us breakfast every morning consisting of tea and toast and marmalade, which I throughly enjoyed, and I got to sit in the sun room and visit with her about her traveling experience and life in general. She's a wonderful person!
The drive is about 40 mins from the Dublin airport, so more convenient if you have a hire car, which we did.
I would ABSOLUTELY return to stay at Emer's place, and the great thing is, I feel like I would be reconnecting with an Irish friend. Thanks a ton Emer!
Our one night stay was too short in Emer's beautiful home, and if we'd not had othrr commitments we'd loved to have stayed longer in the picturesque surroundings. Emer welcomed us with a cup of tea and a friendly chat, and we felt relaxed and comfortable. After a good night's sleep, breakfast and coffee we were off to a great start to the day. Emer drove us to the railway station. We highly recommend Emer's home to airbnbers who are looking for a comfortable base in a beautiful environment.
We stayed for 2 nights. It is a beautiful place very comfortable and Emer is a great hostess. It suits travellers with a car as it is out of the towns nearby. Emer was able to give us good advice and ideas for our stay. Her home is as shown in the photos and we highly recommend staying there. It is a peaceful beautiful home.
Most welcoming place you will find on Airbnb. Easy to find, no distance from Clane or Sallins. Very comfortable room with no noise at all. Would 100% recommended.
Fantastic large period house in 4 acres with a huge conservatory which was terribly relaxing. Tea as soon as I arrived and made very welcome. Thanks Emer....

Emer was very welcoming into her beautiful and very charming home. We visited in her conservatory with tea and hot crossed buns. Lovely.
Our room was just as described. A beautifull cozy down comforter in a comfortable bed. She has lovely grounds too, that we were invited to walk, with flowers blooming and magpies exploring.

About the Host, Emer
I'm a middle-aged lady, who loves travelling, meeting new people, playing tennis, hill-walking, cooking and eating good food, reading, gardening and enjoying my grand-children. I live in a quiet part of Co. Kildare, in beautiful countryside, but I love to get away to exotic locations. Last walking holiday was in the fabulous Atlas Mountains in Morocco. I am a classics student with an Masters degree in Greek and Roman civilization.
I love my home. My house is extremely comfortable and full of character, and my garden is, I think, very beautiful. I would love to share both with you. If you would care to be my guest, I can offer you a country location that is close to Dublin, but which is interesting in itself. I am a couple of miles from the nearest villages, so it would be good if you were a driver, but I am happy to meet you and drop you off the buses and trains.
As a qualified EFL (English as a foreign language) teacher, I can help you if your conversationalEnglish needs brushing up, and I can also give you formal private tuition if you wish, although this would cost extra.
