Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people and I'm happy to chat, but I also am very conscious of a guest's need for space and privacy.
It's a quiet, country neighbourhood, very close to a beautiful stretch of the Liffey. It was formerly an old demesne and there are great stands of mature trees - chestnut, lime, beech and sycamore. Guest might enjoy fishing or walking the fields and the canal.
Public transport runs from Sallins (2 kms) or Clane (3 kms). The Arrow train service to Newbridge, Kildare town, Celbridge and Dublin runs from Sallins, and there is an hourly bus service from Clane to Dublin. Lifts are provided to and from these villages by the host.
Emer was very welcoming into her beautiful and very charming home. We visited in her conservatory with tea and hot crossed buns. Lovely.
Our room was just as described. A beautifull cozy down comforter in a comfortable bed. She has lovely grounds too, that we were invited to walk, with flowers blooming and magpies exploring.
Our first visit to Ireland was very memorable. Our charming hostess warmly welcomed us to her beautiful countryside cottage. The experienced was was richly rewarding. It captured the rustic beauty of Ireland from picturesque Kildare Golf Course and historical public parks to the bustling city streets of Dublin. Awesome experience!!
Dear Barbara and Joseph,
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I so enjoyed having you here and I too, feel I have found new friends. Hope you're enjoying being in Atlanta and seeing your daughters. I bet you're enjoying seeing your grandchild, Barbara. Joseph, I've got a few more trout from the fishermen in my freezer - I thought of you when they dropped them in to me. Very best regards. Emer
Emer was a lovely host with a beautiful, welcoming and comfortable home. Beautiful grounds and trees for anyone wanting a nice relaxing view over breakfast.
Emer was very friendly and made me feel welcome into her home. It is a beautiful house, well connected to the highway. The room was exactly as described. I wanted to stay close to the highway so I could get to Dublin Airport within 30 mins in the morning and this was no problem. Enjoyed my stay.
What a romantic room, beautifully decorated, with lacy bedlinen and an open fireplace!
The whole house is lovely, with a quaint, old-world charm, and would be the perfect setting for a romantic escape 'a deux' or a gathering of 6/8 adults for a country weekend.
Emer is a fantastic hostess - she drove us to the event we were attending in the nearby restaurant and gave us the number of a local taxi to get home safely. It was so quiet that we slept late next morning. With no fuss, she served lovely coffee, bread and marmalade.
There is a huge garden and a fine conservatory to sit and watch the ducks on the pond. Look out for Emer's collection of masks and the lady dragon in the distance ...
Emer's home and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The breakfast was great and she was lovely. The location was perfect for us as well. We wanted to drive close to Dublin in order to catch a plane early the next day, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of the city (traffic, parking). Emer's house is 35-40 minutes from the airport. I highly recommend.

I'm a middle-aged lady, who loves travelling, meeting new people, playing tennis, hill-walking, cooking and eating good food, reading, gardening and enjoying my grand-children. I live in a quiet part of Co. Kildare, in beautiful countryside, but I love to get away to exotic locations. Last walking holiday was in the fabulous Atlas Mountains in Morocco. I am a classics student with an Masters degree in Greek and Roman civilization.
I love my home. My house is extremely comfortable and full of character, and my garden is, I think, very beautiful. I would love to share both with you. If you would care to be my guest, I can offer you a country location that is close to Dublin, but which is interesting in itself. I am a couple of miles from the nearest villages, so it would be good if you were a driver, but I am happy to meet you and drop you off the buses and trains.
As a qualified EFL (English as a foreign language) teacher, I can help you if your conversationalEnglish needs brushing up, and I can also give you formal private tuition if you wish, although this would cost extra.
