We spent four days in this utterly delightful home. Emer had it well prepared for my husband and I. Our three adult children joined us the following day as we were all attending a family wedding party in a nearby town. The house itself is grand. The gardens which are everywhere and full of blooming flowers, give the setting a charm one must experience. Morning coffee on the patio surrounded by climbing roses and potted plants started the morning. The glass ceiling and walled sun room off the kitchen was were we gathered whenever we were not in the yard. Shops and places to walk are close. Emer greeted is with open arms and gave us a wonderful orientation of the house, and yard, and directions to nearby towns. The house itself is full of comfort and beautiful things. We regretted we had to leave and would love to return in the near future.
Well! What a lovely time we had. It wasn't the easiest place to fine, but one quick phone call, and there was the lovely Emer waving us in at the gate, with a kind a friendly welcome.
The house was just lovely, with lots of features, and quirky ways. The beds were super comfy, and even the linen was pressed. Everywhere was beautifully clean and well kept. Though we didn't actually cook anything save a little breakfast, everything was there kin the well-equipped kitchen. The gardens were just a picture to behold, sitting in the comfortable and spacious conservatory.
Emer must spend a lot of time keeping those gardens in such beautiful condition.
There was great information on the workings of the house local transport, shops etc. We though transportation might be a problem (we wanted taxis for to get to and return from a wedding) but Emer's commendations worked perfectly, and extremely quickly.
Emer left us bread, milk, tea, fresh coffee, biscuits, eggs - and a note that we could use anything else we found! How lovely was that! As I said, we weren't there for that kind of a stay, but boy, was it welcome!
We all had a brilliant time at this lovely place. We are considering going there again for a reunion, and a more leisurely stay.
Thank you for such a lovely stay.
Emer is an absolutely charming host. She made us feel immediately comfortable and showed us the workings of her appliances and imparted lots of other useful information before she left the house. The house is uniquely beautiful and comfortable, furnished with lovely things Emer has collected on her travels. Half of the house is very old (a desireable attribute in my book) with the newer addition skillfully added to line up perfectly with the original house. The beds are comfortable, the bedding excellent and the kitchen has everything you need to cook and serve your meals.
The house is sited on acreage that is nothing short of magical. Gardens, stately trees, a stream and a miniature weir, a semi-circular gravel driveway and in the trees above it scores of birds singing in the morning and evening.
I highly recommend this listing for its host, its house and the beautiful property that surrounds it.

About the Host, Emer
I'm a middle-aged lady, who loves travelling, meeting new people, playing tennis, hill-walking, cooking and eating good food, reading, gardening and enjoying my grand-children. I live in a quiet part of Co. Kildare, in beautiful countryside, but I love to get away to exotic locations. Last walking holiday was in the fabulous Atlas Mountains in Morocco. I am a classics student with an Masters degree in Greek and Roman civilization.
I love my home. My house is extremely comfortable and full of character, and my garden is, I think, very beautiful. I would love to share both with you. If you would care to be my guest, I can offer you a country location that is close to Dublin, but which is interesting in itself. I am a couple of miles from the nearest villages, so it would be good if you were a driver, but I am happy to meet you and drop you off the buses and trains.
As a qualified EFL (English as a foreign language) teacher, I can help you if your conversationalEnglish needs brushing up, and I can also give you formal private tuition if you wish, although this would cost extra.
My life motto is 'Enjoy the days. You'll be dead long enough!'
