Enjoy your stay in NYC on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, New York’s trendiest neighborhood! Steps from the subway, McCarren Park, and some of the hottest restaurants, shops, galleries, cafes, music venues and bars in NYC, this cozy apartment has access to a shared garden filled with rose bushes. Furnished with a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom and two twin beds in the smaller bedroom.
You'll be renting the upper half of my duplex apartment. I'll be staying in the lower half. You'll have the top half (2 bedrooms and your own bathroom) pretty much all to yourselves—I am out a lot and completely respect my guests' privacy. Sometimes I don't even see folks after check in(!), though we might end up chatting over beers in the backyard too. I'm also on hand to answer any questions you may have and help with anything you may need. It's the closest thing you can (legally) get to renting a private 2BR apartment in NYC!
--Wi-Fi & Satellite TV w/ HBO and a flat-screen TV.
--A full kitchen with new stainless-steel appliances (fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher) and all needed cooking supplies is provided for your convenience.
--Clean linens and towels are included.
--Midtown Manhattan (Rockefeller Center/Times Square) is approximately 20-30 minutes away via the G train (located around the corner), and the L train, one stop (a 5-minute ride) to Manhattan, is a short walk down Bedford Avenue, the hottest shopping street in Brooklyn.
I absolutely ADORE the neighborhood--it's a very quiet street, but the excitement begins around the corner, with some of the trendiest bars & restaurants in NYC (Heath Ledger's restaurant opened up 1.5 blocks away) and a huge gorgeous park around the corner.
—No smoking inside the apartment (you are welcome to smoke in the yard as long as all cigarette butts are disposed of properly).
—No pets (many guests are allergic--it prevents us from renting to other guests in the future)
--Please respect the neighbors and other building residents, and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. This is a NYC apartment; like all other apartments in the city there are neighbors above, below, and on both sides. Sound travels. Please be considerate. No parties in the apartment or yard, please.
—If you are traveling with children: While children are welcome (and encouraged!) to play in the garden, please prevent any running/stomping/jumping in the apartment—there are people living downstairs! Thank you.
—Please leave all apartment windows and doors locked upon your departure.
—Please leave air conditioning units off when you are not in the apartment.
—Please do not chop or cut directly on the countertops--please use the cutting boards provided!
—Please do not rearrange all the furniture in the apartment! (I know this seems like a weird rule, but we had a guest who did just that)
—Please separate your recyclables into the containers provided, and dispose of trash appropriately (instructions are on the fridge). NYC fines us a lot of money if our recyclables aren't properly disposed of! Thanks for your help.
--If you have a problem with something in the apartment not working, please let me know as soon as you can! A few guests haven't been able to figure something out and waited to tell me upon checkout, which was too late for me to fix the problem. I want you to be happy! If you message me about an issue, I'll do everything I can to fix it as quickly as possible.
--PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER THE OTHER TENANTS IN THE BUILDING--they won't be able to help you, and are weary of being contacted by guests. Please ask/call/message me (or the Airbnb help line) and we'll sort things out.
Anna and Steve are easy to work with. They respond quickly to any questions or issues. The apartment is as shown in photos. The kitchen has everything you could need if you want to prepare meals. There are 2 TVs with cable. The main bedroom is good size with queen bed and the second bedroom is quite small with 2 twin beds. As noted in other reviews the twin beds are quite hard. Bathroom is very small but typical for NY apartments. The very best thing for us about the apartment is the location. It is close to my son & family, close to restaurants, grocery store, laundry, park and G train. Just about perfect for us.
The perfect vacation! Cosy apartment and excellent location. Will definitely be back!
Nice and easy rental, amazing location, clean and cozy apartment. Perfect for 4 people.
This was my first airbnb experience and it was excellent. If you want to live like an New Yorker for a bit this is the place for you. The apartment was "real"-so if you need new and shiny you may be disappointed. We found it clean, the bedding and towels were of good quality and best of all the location is awesome. Some of the best spots in Greenpoint and Williamsburg are just a brisk walk away-allowing you to burn off those extra calories you'll be enjoying. If your into cooking, the markets close at hand have beautiful produce and seafood. Anna and Steve were also kind enough to grant our request for early drop off of luggage. The only negative I can think of is that if you are a light sleeper, the sound of footsteps overhead may be a bit of a problem.
We stayed one week at Anna and Steve's apartment. We had no problem with anything. The keys were easily retrieved and the apartment arrangement worked well for my husband and I and our son. The 2 bedrooms are separated by the living room/kitchen which gives everyone more privacy. One of my main concerns when traveling is having a good bed. The queen bed in the master bedroom was excellent with nice linens. The smaller beds in the 2nd bedroom were not as comfortable, but OK. The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances. The shower in the bathroom was very good. The apartment is street level which is nice for carrying in luggage and it was very quiet. The neighborhood was fun with lots of services and restaurants; the apartment is very close to a subway stop. We did not use the outdoor area, but it was available.
The appartment is exactly as pictured. Master bedroom and living room are very spacious (but the smaller bedroom is a bit tight).
The appartment has a fully functional kitchen, but since we were on holiday we chose not to waste too much time cooking :) There are many good restaurants around, and our favorite spot for breakfast was definitely Lite Bites in the corner of Manhattan/Norman Avs (~3 minute walk). Highly recommended :)
Two sets of keys were provided, which is a must in a group of 4 people.
The location is just perfect. In New York your biggest requirement for location should be proximity to a subway station, and it is really right around the corner! One change to one of many optional lines, and you are very quickly anywhere you want to be on Manhattan (or Brooklyn, Queens..) - But, the neighborhood itself is definitely worth checking out as well! Many nice shops, restaurants and bars (have to visit Brooklyn Brewery and Tørst if you like craft beers).
The appartment is located on a quiet street though, with no traffic during the nights to keep you awake.
The apartment was conveniently located with neighborhood grocery and coffee etc on the way to & from subway. We accessed the apartment fairly easily but the keys & locks do take some getting used to. And as one other reviewer mentioned the building doors & moldings are pretty beat with the actual apartment door having broken (but shoddily repaired) molding around lock.
The owners were inconsistent about responding promptly to our texts and phone calls, but when we did finally connect they did their best to address our issues.
Besides quiet, convenient location and price, we liked:
•Very roomy, bright master bedroom with large closet
•Twin beds in 2nd bedroom (there were 4 adults in our party)
•Several mirrors around & open space for toiletries just outside bath, luggage racks and hooks in bedrooms
•A few things in the cupboards and fridge so no need to purchase everything: ie honey, tea, spices, butter etc.
•Helpful book with tips and info for us to use.
These were our concerns:
•One of twin beds was VERY hard, other beds just hard.
•Pillows, also not comfortable
•Apartment was dusty although owners said it had been professionally cleaned (they did say they would refund the cleaning deposit but we were still left with a dusty apartment.. Ah chew!)
Over all, the apartment was rather run down. Granted, some of this on the outside is up to the landlord to fix, but a lot can be done by the tenant with a cleaning rag, a can of paint and a bit of elbow grease for not much expense. The yard could be cute and inviting but was unkempt at best.
I re-read other reviews in preparation of writing this and I see that others mentioned some of these issues so I should have paid closer attention and I take that fault on my shoulders. Overall, we had a lovely time, due to the convenience of the apartment and the fact that we were, in fact, in an apartment rather than stuffed into a small expensive hotel room.
We're newlyweds living in NYC. We love living on the edge of Williamsburg and Greenpoint! Trendy, fun, but far enough away from the action to still have a neighborhood feel.
