We had a great experience throughout our stay. Zarifi was great as she patiently waited for and picked us u from Tophane Tram station. The last day she arranged a taxi transfer back to the airport as we were flying out very early. She was informative and helpful. Thank you Zarifi.
The flat is comfortable and has a large terrace which we used quite a bit. The location is good; about 20 minute walk to Istiklal St and Galata Tower. There is a supermarket nearby and groceries. Also new tea shops and restaurants.
If too tired of walking, the tram will take you to the Golden Horn where the most popular attractions are.
You want to go to Istanbul? Just book Zarifi's Tophane appartment with its wonderful terrace.
Zarifi is a nice and friendly person, she waited for us at the tramstop Tophane (5min walk) and acompanied us to the appartment, even though we had a late flight and arrived late. She brought us some drinks and some nice thing to eat, so we didn't have to go out for shopping anymore that night. Instead we had a small walk to the Galatatower (10min). There were a lot of young people just sitting around on the ground, eating, drinking and having fun with each other. It all had a good and friendly atmosphere, what we later experienced everywhere in Istanbul.
The appartment is not big but cosey, and offer sufficient space for us a couple, to sit sleep bath, and if you want to, cook and eat. As a cherry on top, it has a huge terrace.
Zarifi gave us nice advice about fine restaurants and things to do in Istanbul, things you can't find in the guides. She informed us about the small grocery and the small restaurant, just around the corner. Buy your breakfast in the morning there, or even better eat your breakfast at the restaurant "Culinata" it is good and not expensive.
Stroll around the neighborhood and drink a tea, it is pleasure to relax and see people passing by.
We had a wonderfull time in Istanbul. People are friendly and helpfull and yes it may be sound obligato but We fell in love with Istanbul and its inhabitants. Just go and see for it yourself.

Zarifi was a great host!! She was very friendly and extremely helpful with helping me get around the city and answering questions. Her flat is centrally located next to the tram station and only steps away from Istanbul Modern. Galata tower, Cihangir, and Karakoy are all within waking distance. I enjoyed having breakfast on her private terrace every morning.
We stayed one week in Zarifis apartment and we really much enjoyed our stay! The apartment is very well equipped with everything you need. Zarifi is a really nice person and was helpful with her recommendations on our late arrival at night! The apartment is close to the tram station, in a really nice quarter of Istanbul. We enjoyed our breakfast at the large terrace each day. The only negative point to mention is the small shower and that we had no water on one day due to construction works in the neighborhood. We can absolutely recommend this apartment!
Very nice landlord. Had some excellent tips for nice vegetarian restaurants in istanbul ;)
Zafiri was a great host. When we arrived she showed us all the interesting places around her flat and gave us some local tips. She also replied my text messages quickly when we asked her for some help.
The flat is lovely and it's really nice to enjoy some turkish coffee on it after spending the whole day seeing what Istanbul has to offer. It is located close to many nice cafes and places where you can eat at night and since it is very close to Tophane Tram station it is very easy to reach the airport by public transport and also many of the city main attractions.
Zariffi is a friendly and helpful person. She welcomed us when we came to Tophane by tram. Following she showed us the apartment, Zarififfi invited us out for a cup of tea, where she gave us a lot of information about what was worth visiting.
The apartment is perfect place as a starting point, close to all sights by walking or by tram and bus. We had wonderful weather all 6 days and had really good pleasure of the terrace, both in the morning and late in the evening.
Zarifi was very helpful. I stayed at the flat for 2 months. The weather was a bit cold and rainy, so I didn't get to use the Terrace too much. But on sunny days, my cat loved it. There was some construction going on around the flat, so it was loud at times (during the day only.) It's almost over, so you might not have any problems. Plus, Istanbul is so awesome, you shouldn't be hanging out at the flat too much anyway. :)
Location is great. Right next to the tram. And a few streets uphill, you're in Galata/Istiklal. You can even walk all the way to Hagia Sophia/Soutanamet area (it's a long walk, but a great one with a lot to see along the way)
There were several problems with the flat. There was construction on the street, so the electricity broke on a few occasions. This was a big issue my first night, as the apartment was freezing even after the heat came back on. I had to stay in a hotel across the street (which was actually bigger and not any more expensive, really). Zarifi did her best to fix these and the several other problems that came up during my stay -- including the heater turning off on occasion, the wifi repeatedly breaking, the small shower being clogged, and so on -- and was very nice about it. She let me stay an extra night (and I could have stayed longer had I wanted to). However, before you book your stay, maybe consider checking on the construction situation, or opting for a non-winter booking. Even still, the flat was in an excellent location, with lots of great cafes and restaurants that Zarifi showed me. It is a generally nice flat -- the kitchen and bathroom are small, but the terrace is really nice, though unfortunately it wasn't really cleaned or set up for usage when I was there.
Liz is right but unfortunately there was a general problem at the whole neighbourhood about electricity. They fixed it in 2 days working on the street. I took her to the hotel which nightly 100 EUR and i paid it. Internet was going and coming after that because of the construction of electricity. my electrician fixed the cables coming from the street also. That was a surprise for me also. She was a nice guest and very communicative. About the terrace, winter time and because it was wet not convinient to open the tables and chairs. out.
The flat itself is nice, small but adequate. We were there in the winter so could not use the outside deck, but it looked like a great place to end the day on. Zarifi herself was terrific. Among other niceties, she met us at the flat on our first night at around 1 am so we wouldn't have to wait until the next day to get the heat and hot water going, and when the wireless modem broke one night she was there the next day to try and fix it. When she realized it needed a service technician and would not be corrected soon, she gave us an internet stick to use. That was unexpected and very thoughtful. This kind of thing develops loyalty, and I will contact Zarifi the next time we are in Istanbul.
