About This Listing
Our family house was a series of small village barns, lovingly converted and restored by my parents. It is a sanctuary of peace and beauty, with magical wide open views of the valley and vines, filled with lovely things. Minimum 4 night stay.
The house comprises:
A large open plan kitchen/dinning room and an equally large sitting room which spectacular views over the valley. One of the two sofas is a double sofa bed.
One twin bedroom.
Two double bedrooms.
Two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath.
A terraced, walled garden and various other smaller pieces of outdoor space.
Two separate large second floor terraces.
The house is full of character, it is fresh and bright, and personally furnished by my family - it is not a traditional bland rental property. As testimony to this, it features in the exclusive Alastair Sawday Guide to French properties to rent.
It is situated in the rustic, unspoilt village of Paziols, underneath the Church. The village is in the Cathar castle region of the Corbieres. It is real, working wine country and it is truly beautiful. Paziols is a characterful little village, with a bar, restaurant, shop and tennis courts, situated on the foothill of a wide valley basin with far reaching views.
There are wonderful walks and beautiful villages to visit all around. The is also a vast array of magical wild river swimming options - with crystal clear waters - in and around the village. The Mediterranean is 50 minutes drive and there are some fantastic beaches with lovely restaurants, as well as fresh mussel beds where you can pick up fresh off-the-boat mussels.
Our house is beloved of writers and painters, which you will appreciate if you visit.
For enquires re. out of season rental, or fewer people, we may be able to agree a reduced rate.

We spent peaceful days in the lovely house in Paziols. The nice terraces with the marvelous views, the courtyard full of jasmine-scent, the large cozy kitchen and the special living room invited us to spend many hours just in and around the house. The valuable tips helped us discovering the near surrounding: Picturesque swimming places, scenic châteaus, etc. And we loved the familiar atmosphere of the Paziols.
Communication with Freya and Hugo was easy, prompt and supportive and we enjoyed the nice wine that awaited us when we arrived. We’d love to come back.
We had a really nice, two week long stay at Freyas house in Paziols. The house was better than the pictures and both Freya and her dad Hugo was helpful when needed. The kitchen was fully equipped, the garden and the terraces were great, with an amazing view. We have nothing to complain about besides the wifi that wasn't working during our stay - but it was broke due to a storm before we arrived, and the last day it was fixed and it seemed to work all fine.
The village is small but cozy, the river pool was a bless for hot days and the surroundings was nice for walks among the vineyards or a hike in the mountains.
We can really recommend this place!
