Description

The space

Your room is in our own home and is spacious, sunny (in the morning), delightfully decorated, and warm. This room comfortably accommodates two people in twin beds: the beds are dressed with fresh 100% cotton sheets and pillow cases which are changed weekly, as well as spare blankets. You have a table and chair if you need to work. The bathroom is shared with everyone in the house, and is a large, clean, bright room. The beds are made up and the tea tray is refreshed every day. There are no locks to the rooms, but as this is our private home, we hope that you will feel safe and comfortable here.

Guest access

As well as your own room and the shared bathroom, we also have a small WC (shared) downstairs, which you can use. Our kitchen is bright and cheerful, and breakfast will be served there every morning, between 8:30 and 9:30 am. We do not provide the use of our kitchen. On check-in day, if you wish to drop luggage prior to 6:00pm, please let us know IN ADVANCE so the we can make the necessary arrangements to facilitate you.

Interaction with guests

We would be delighted if you will join us each morning in our kitchen for a light breakfast of tea / coffee, homemade bread and marmalade / jams, and muesli. We are also available for help in finding information etc while you are staying with us.

The neighborhood

Our house is only 60 metres from the sea front and the beach. We are facing north west and our back is to the south east. The sun shines through the kitchen windows every morning (if it shines at all!), a great welcome to the new day. This is a quiet, residential area, with good transport into the city centre, which is about 3 kilometers away. Our community of neighbours is friendly and helpful. Nearby, is the "village" about 5 or 10 minutes walk, with shops including a bookshop, a vegetable shop, pharmacy, dry-cleaners, supermarket, clothes boutiques. We have some great restaurants, cafes and pubs.

Getting around

The Aircoach from the Airport stops at the Clayton Hotel in Ballsbridge, it is about 20 or 25 minutes journey. Into the city centre, we have a regular bus service which also stops at the top of the road, and the journey takes about 20 minutes. The Dart is a 15 minute walk away and can take you as far as Greystones to the south and Howth to the north. There is a Taxi office in the village.

Other things to note

We are convenient to the RDS, the Bord Gáis Theatre, the Conference Centre, the O2, Lansdowne Aviva Stadium and the Universities, Trinity and UCD. Accessing the City for the various festivals that occur throughout the year is straightforward using public transport.

Kathy and her husband were phenomenal hosts and super helpful. They even had breakfast for us every morning which was amazing and homemade. Just can say enough good stuff about them!

We arrived early and Kathy was kind enough to let us drop off our bags prior to check in. Kathy's home is beautiful and her and her husband have great recommendations on things to do in Dublin. Despite the location being a little far from the city centre, it is by a gorgeous bay. Kathy also provides you with leap passes, which makes it cheaper and more convenient to transit.

A warm welcome awaits you from Kathy and Paddy. Fantastic hosts with a lovely home in a great location. 2 minutes from the sea. 2 miles from the city centre and a short walk to the village where you will find great pubs, restaurants and a coffee bar. Fresh, home baked bread for breakfast. Uummmm. Highly recommended.

Kathy was very kind. The breakfast was delicious homemade breads and jams. It was away from the city so noise wasn't an issue. If you can navigate public transit, I highly recommend this place.

My week in Kathy's house was the best experience in Airbnb so far. She is kind, smart and able to predict what I needed. The room was clean and I found a little manual with all the info for the city and the rules of the house. In the morning I had great conversations during breakfast (with fresh bread and homemade jam) and suggestions about how to get around. Nothing else to say, if you are looking for a BnB close to the sea with a great host, this is the perfect choice. Thanks a lot Kathy.

I spent 2 nights. It was very comfortable and clean. It is easy to access even if it is a little bit far away from city center ( bus at 5min and train at 15min + journey) Kathy have me a leap card to have a easy and faster access to public transport. The breakfast is friendly in the kitchen with a lot of stuff.

Kathy User ProfileKathy is a superhost.

I am an artist - a sculptor, and I also enjoy home activities such as baking, gardening and sewing. Myself and my husband, Paddy, like to go hillwalking and rock climbing: we are outdoorsy people. We like to move gently through life, and as a result, our house is warm and welcoming, and restful. As hosts, we welcome visitors and friends alike, and enjoy the company and the stories of all our guests. I enjoy singing and am part of Dublin South Music Makers. We meet every week and sing to each other. I am also a member of our local Transitions Towns and GIY groups.
