About This Listing
Our compact and cozy studio is excellently located in the city center. Located in a private courtyard ten steps from the beautiful river bank, it is quiet, yet only one bridge away from the ever lively old town.
Perfect for one person or a couple.
The studio is located on the first floor of a small apartment building. It opens straight into a kitchen with a small bathroom and toilet. The sleeping room and living room are joined. The kitchen in facing the castle and the river. The studio is compact and basic, but its location is one of the best in Ljubljana.
Guests have access to the entire apartment during their stay.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to welcome our guests and help them getting around.
Trnovo is one of the most beautiful parts of the city, as it is crowned by the vicinity of the river banks. Walking out of the small courtyard of the studio offers a spectacular view of the river, the Ljubljana castle and Ljubljana's numerous bridges. Around the corner is one of Ljubljana's most charming streets, dotted with bars and restaurants. A supermarket and fruit and vegetable markets are right under the studio.
The studio is located right next to the pedestrian zone in the old town, and near one of the main city streets with several bus lines. We recommend renting a bicycle to experience Ljubljana at its best.
Other Things to Note
There is an additional sofa which can be extended into a bed for an additional person if required.
We would like the guests to keep the place clean and tidy. It is not recommended to have parties in the house, because of the neighbours.
Matjaž's cosy little studio is perfectly located in Ljubljana. It was in a quiet district, but just around the corner from local restaurants, bars and cafés and a supermarket.
Unfortunately we didn't get to meet him as he was away for the weekend, but her friendly and helpful friend Barbara was there to greet us and show us around.
Matjaž, thank you, Barbara & Rik for a great stay!
Excellent place to stay in Ljubljana for a little week! Beautiful during New Year's Eve! Matjaz is a very kind host (even if I asked plenty of questions), with full of tips to eat and have fun.
Studio was all correct, true to description/pictures. Clean, practical and warm.
I'll recommand it to a friend with no problem!
It was very easy to arrived at the house and Matjaz was waiting us. He explained us some things about the stay, we already knew the city so we didn't need suggestions. The house was tiny and warm, perfect for a short holiday! The neighborhood is very quiete and near by there's a serbian resturant where you can eat delicius cevapcici! The house is very close to the center! We liked our stay there!
I was welcomed by Matjaz who was over an hour/hour and a half late from the agreed time, but he explained to me why he was late and due to legitimate reasons (although everyone knew my arrival time months in advance).
Although all of the people who already stayed in this apartment had no other but praising words, I believed this would be close to perfect place to stay while in Ljubljana.
Let me list some of the issues I faced with: the place was by far in a much worse condition than the photos (here it looks nice, clean, neat cozy little place), as well as the experience others had in the past. There was literally dust everywhere, spider nests above my head and the curtains, garbage behind a furnace which was not cleaned literally for over a year. Lots of boxes scattered under the bed. The excuse of the host was "they were all so busy during the summer and had many guests one after another, no real time to clean up". The bathroom was very, very small, the sink almost impossible to use without splashing water everywhere, but this is not the worst! The shower curtain and everywhere in the bathroom were covered in mold. Literally every corner covered in mold. The bathroom was also very humid that towels would not dry in days there.
So, I can continue writing about this place, since I spent very unpleasant 4 days in this apartment...but believe the above gives anyone interested in this place a good overview how the apartment looks like. In few words, very old and dirty place. Am sure there are much nicer, cleaner and well located places around Ljubljana. If you can, try avoiding this one.
The kitchen, which I did not need to use, had all very old appliances and a terrible noise fridge. For those with light sleep, it's a no no sleep during your stay.
The only positive side is the location - nice neighborhood, 10 mins walk to the city center.
With all respect, Slavica's review is not fair and correct. It is true that i was 45 min late, which i have apologised in advance for unforeseen duty at work. For the compensation i have offered to treat her and her friends a dinner at the closeby restaurant where she was waiting, which she kindly refused. For everything else - yes, the apartment is in an old house, it is not sterile, but it is decently clean as all of the reviews before testify. So I was shocked, when in aftermath Slavica sent me a private message with the content which is just ridiculously exaggerated and untrue, about seeing spider nets and piles of dust everywhere…it suddenly made sense when she pointed out that she wants money for rent back or she will publish the review. I have never been a subject to this kind of blackmailing, so i stopped to respond to her…and she published, something that is so obviously contrary to all of the other 21 reviews that either is something wrong with those 21 customers' sense of perception, or this person should be staying in only 4star hotels and not using airbnb service. Especially not using it to blackmail people and try to get accommodated for free through this kind of methods. You are all invited to come to check our apartment and even to look under the bed and behind the furnace ;)
The studio is nice, clean and conveniently located in the very centre of town. It is also very close to the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia and to the National library, which makes it perfect for an academic visit. The place is quiet as it is in a courtyard and the bed is very comfortable. There are also a supermarket and a bakery nearby. Neja and Matjaz are very nice and attentive in their communication. All in all a great place to stay, thank you!
Apartment is placed in the very center of the city, has everything you need as if you were in a hotel. Matjaz who showed us the flat was very hospitable and kind. We recommend it!
