I will welcome you on your arrival, and orient you to the property, and to the facilities for your use. I am available to answer any queries. Otherwise I leave you to your privacy to enjoy your stay in your own way. If you need any information on local amenities, I am happy to help.
Here on Sunhill, you enjoy peace and quiet, with the option of the town and it's pubs and restaurants only a short walk away. Have a quiet meal, or go and enjoy the music in the pub. There is a beach a 10 minute drive away and another bigger one for long walks - or horse riding - a 20 minute drive away. We are on the famous Ring of Kerry drive - or cycle - with it's spectacular scenery. Killarney National Park is also a 25 minute drive away.
A car is the best way to get around here, to be able to easily access many beautiful locations, but cycling is also very popular. There are buses to Tralee and Killarney, where you can get connections to Dingle or Cork respectively. I can pick you up from Killorglin town with your luggage, if arranged in advance.
No smoking anywhere in the house. And enjoy your stay!
Shayla was an excellent host, very well prepared, helpful and considerate. When we first arrived in the late evening, she treated us a glass of wine and a friendly chat, which was welcome after our long drive that day.
The house itself is spacious and comfortable, and the guests' kitchen is well-equipped for making breakfast and dinner. The breakfast choice was great for us, and filled us up nicely for the day ahead.
Finally, thanks so much Shayla for the recommendations of where to go on the ring of Kerry - we had a lovely and memorable time.
Wow! How fortunate we were to have stayed with Shayla!
First off, the location is wonderful and the house is spectacular. The photos are very representative, in as much as you can capture the natural beauty surrounding and within the space (which you can't!) The bedroom we stayed in was beautiful: clean, comfortable, quiet, with one of the most comfortable beds around. The bathroom is so chic and the shower is pretty much a modern wonder of the world, LOL.
Shayla expertly treads the line of being a welcoming informative host and also giving you your privacy. The separate kitchen and living area are great! And the kitchen.... if you're been traveling for awhile and just need a simple, home-cooked meal, this is your spot. Plenty of staples are already stocked in the kitchen, and with a few ingredients from the markets in town, you'll feel like new with some fresh food in your system.
It truly is a healing space; it's not just from the fresh food and tea and the 'mountain' air, either. You can tell that this is intentionally a place of respite and healing. Shayla has done a fantastic job of creating and holding a special (dare I say sacred?) space in Killorglin. My husband and I organize yoga retreats for a living, and we are eager to some day rent out the entirety of the house for a retreat. Shayla's space has everything you'd need for a successful retreat/workshop, including a big common studio area for body work or meetings.
Please ask Shayla about her hidden treasures along the Ring of Kerry, you won't be disappointed!
Thank you Shayla!

We spent two wonderful days at Shayla's house. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We had a separated kitchen and Shayla provided us everything we needed for breakfast plus fresh fruits from the local market. She's a very warm-hearted and open-minded person. We asked for special places along the Ring of Kerry and she gave us some very good advice - thanks again, the beach was awesome. We can fully recommend to stay at Shayla's nice home.

About the Host, Shayla
A Killarney native, I have lived in Killorglin for just over one year. I have built this house and a Therapy Centre here - finished August 2013 - so that I can have a beautiful space to to live in, to share with friends and guests and to practice my therapeutic work. I lived in London for many years and then in Cork for many more, before moving back to my native Kerry. I choose this location for it's panoramic views of the mountains all around, which change hour by hour, and for it's large private garden space, which I am slowly developping. I love my work, walking in nature, reading, travel and meeting people from different cultures to share experiences. I love nature's beauties and telling people about the loveliness of Kerry. I enjoy delicious healthy food, lots of walking - especially by the sea - and a glass of good wine. I love to sing and I sing in a local choir. When I travel, I like independent travelling, self catering, the choice to relate or not, as the mood takes me, so I offer that to my guests too - freedom of making your own food, non-intrusive care and comfort. Do your own thing - & I'm available if you need any information, to help in any way I can to make your visit more enjoyable. While I am definitely not fluent, I can get by in French, Spanish and Italian - enough to help with everyday things, but not philosophical discussion!
My life motto -" Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved!"
