Looking for a home away from home that feels like a private house from which you can walk to the very best LA has to offer? Then the Los Feliz Village Bungalow is for you. This adorable place is 800 square feet of comfort, privacy and style. The windows look out to greenery or private gardens. It is a quiet ground floor unit in a lovely early 1920s one story duplex. Fully renovated with a delightful contemporary style while keeping the original period character.
The rooms are all lovely, and well-appointed: a fully supplied kitchen with wonderful Okeefe & Merritt vintage stove, copper pots and Italian pottery. An incredibly comfortable king bed. A renovated bathroom with clawfoot tub. A breezy, stylish living room and dining area with graceful mahogony table. A serene little private office. Two well-appointed, shaded outdoor garden sitting areas surrounded by bougainvillea, Mexican bamboo and ornamental grasses. And four raised vegetable beds with organic produce for you to sample.
As far as amenities - wireless internet throughout the property, a large flat screen tv with cable and HBO, a Bose ipod speaker station, organic cotton bathrobes and slippers, and all the privacy and comfort you could want.
Interaction with Guests
Please feel free to email with any requests or travel advice for the city - we know it very well and are right close by! (the apartment is also stocked with delightful welcome booklets mapping the very best of everything nearby and with instructions on how to use everything). Los Feliz Village is a terrific, very central place to base yourself, and there is very easy bus and metro access to Hollywood, Silver Lake, Downtown and much of the city. We hope you make yourselves fully at home, and enjoy the very best of what LA has to offer! Bon Voyage!
But the best part may be the location. A wonderful, tree-lined block with old Craftsman homes hidden in the very heart of the Village, but just steps away from all you could want.
Some highlights within two blocks:
Cafe Figaro, Fred 62, Niko Niko Sushi, Home, The Dresden, Los Feliz 3 Cinema, the wonderful Skylight Books, great newsstand, pharmacy, terrific boutiques
Highlights within four blocks:
Alcove Cafe, Covell Wine Bar, Umami Burger, Mother Dough pizza, Rockwell Vt, Electric Lotus, Starbucks, Steven Alan, Confederacy, pilates and yoga studios, art galleries, library, liquor store, bank, post office, bus and metro stops.
Not only is it near several Metro and bus lines, but they are walkable - a rare thing indeed in Los Angeles.
Please no pets, though we love them. The original floors are stained a cheery and dramatic white, and the furniture is all quite nice, and we would like to do what we can to keep it all that way.
We would really appreciate it if you didn't smoke in the apartment. There are three delightful outdoor sitting areas within steps of the front door for your use as you wish.
The gardens and sitting areas are for your comfort and enjoyment, but please try to keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. There are children sleeping nearby.
But, most importantly, enjoy yourself!
Cute spot in great location. Comfy bed and spacious closet. Nice room to hang out. Would definitely stay here again.
I loved staying at Eliot's. The place is beautifully appointed and in such a fantastic neighbourhood, walking to my favourite places in Los Feliz village were so easy, and Eliot even introduced me to great new places! Parking has been the trickiest aspect, but I've always found a space a block or two away, which isn't bad at all. All in all, I would love to come back again and for longer next time! 5 stars all round. Oh, and I was a young woman on my own and I felt super safe the whole time.
Eliot made me feel very welcome and is an extremely nice guy but I only stayed there one night as I was on my own and I didn't feel terribly secure. The windows could be opened from the outside. It's a great neighbourhood though and if you're less of a scaredy cat than me, then you'll love it! It was very cold in the bedroom with no heating but Eliot did offer to bring me a heater, however by then I had moved on. He even suggested a hotel I could stay in down the road. I would add that the place is a lot darker than it looks in the pictures but every piece of furniture in it is very classy. Eliot has great taste!
Hi Lucy. We were so sad you left! So you know, the bedroom heater had been removed by a previous guest. It has now been replaced and the room is very comfortable. The living room may have been a bit darker because the hedge had grown very high, but it has been trimmed quite short. And lastly, the windows are the original wood windows from the 1920s and some of the locks are difficult to operate. But they will be tuned up and made a bit easier to use. We hope you come back another time!
This is a casual and comfortable duplex unit in an outstanding, quiet neighborhood location between two main streets in Los Feliz. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
The house was absolutely lovely as we're the surroundings ! Couldn't have been happier
Eliot was a fantastic host, warm and welcoming, but able to give us plenty of privacy. The bungalow was bright, comfortable, clean, beautifully and simply decorated, and very well set up for our stay of five nights. It was great to have a fully functioning kitchen, a very comfortable bed, and air conditioning in the bedroom, which we needed as it was quite hot during our time in LA. The neighborhood was quiet even though the property is situated between two busy streets in the heart of Los Feliz Village. We were able to walk for almost everything we needed. We will definitely return when we visit our children and grandchild, who live nearby.
Los Feliz Village Bungalow is a charming property; perfectly situated, beautifully presented and a sanctuary in a lovely part of Los Angeles. We enjoyed our stay however we experienced a few problems with the property which unfortunately was not dealt with as Eliot was out of town. The toilet was not filling and unable to flush automatically, the cable box would not switch on therefore the television did not work and the ipod dock was missing the dock connector.
Having met Eliot on his return on our last day we learnt he had limited reception whilst traveling and he kindly offered a discount for our inconvenience. At time of writing this offer of discount has so far not been followed through. Based on his other reviews I understand he is generally a good host and we must have just been unlucky. With the above items attended to; the property is really a lovely place to stay.
