La Casa Terracotta is our beautiful, 100-yr-old Italian village home, set at the end of a tiny village lane. There are 3 bedrooms sleeping 6, 2 bathrooms, a downstairs loo, fully-equipped kitchen, living/dining room, terraced gardens, amazing west-facing views and luxury hot tub. The location is peaceful but just 10 mins up the mountain from the A1. You can get away from it all on holiday here, be well-placed to explore Italy, do business at the FIERA, or just relax in the hot tub!

The space
Inside the house, through the arched front door, the entrance lobby is furnished with antique pamment tiles. A stone and marble staircase winds up to the first and second floors. Solid oak doors lead off on either side to the cosy, comfortable living / dining room and to the kitchen with its solid oak units, brand new induction hob and aged marble work surfaces. There is also a new downstairs loo for when you nip up from the terrace.
The house has a lovely welcoming feel and we hope it has everything you need for a simple but luxurious stay. The pamment, oak and marble kitchen equipment includes 2 coffee machines (one for Lavazza capsules and one for fresh ground coffee), a Bosch dishwasher, fridge freezer, panini maker, and of course plenty of pans, crockery and glasses, as well as a breakfast bar for your morning cappucino. The living/dining room has a large white leather sofa and comfortable armchairs (plus lots of cushions) to curl up in, and mood lighting for when you want it dim and romantic or brilliantly lit. The glass dining table, set into the window area with views to the mountains, has seating for 6, and to keep you entertained if you wish to retreat from outside there is Smart satellite TV with Netflix, a DVD player, board games and books. You can also of course stream your own choices of music and films as WiFi is available throughout the property.
On the first floor there is a large, bright bedrooom with a superking bed that can, if requested be split into twin beds, with its own walk-in dressing room area with plenty of storage and a triple-mirrored dressing table.
Just across the first floor landing is a white and sand-coloured family bathroom with shower, sink and bidet - and which has what we think is the best ‘view from a loo’ in the world!
(Behind the bathroom you will find a useful utility area with a washing machine etc. Here is also the instant hot water boiler ( which means you never run out! and which works in tandem with the WIFI-controlled NEST heating system)
Up to the second floor and there are two further double bedrooms. Bed 2 has a kingsize bed plus a private ensuite shower room with shower, loo, bidet and sink. Bed 3 has another 6-foot bed that can be split into twins. Both rooms have wardrobes, mirrors and views across to the mountains.
Between the two rooms is a small balcony area, just big enough for a couple of chairs and a tiny table – great for early morning coffee or a pre-dinner aperitif for two.

Outside, across from the house, through your private gate, there are wide stone steps leading down to the terraces where you can relax, cook on the barbecue, eat, even do yoga and t’ai chi, all with the stunning mountain views. There is an extendable outdoor dining table, sunbeds, barbecue, and solar-powered shower. On the level below there is a newly-formed terrace where you can take sunbeds to simply relax and enjoy the view. And of course there is our luxury Wellis Malaga hot tub – great for massaging stiff muscles after a day’s hiking.
(At the top of the upper terrace there is an additional small living space which has hot water, a food prep area, outdoor crockery, a mini fridge, plus storage for towels, sunbeds and chairs and a small table - great for working at, or for younger family members to be a bit independent !)

Where you’ll be

Monteacuto Vallese, Emilia-Romagna, Italy

Staying here is an opportunity to experience real Italian village life. You can live like a local, eating out much of the time, (3 course lunches for 12 euros!), gathering round the table on the terrace for al fresco dinners - but with all the attractions of Emilia-Romagna and much of Tuscany and the Veneto within easy driving reach.
There is a well stocked and good value supermarket two minutes drive away for all your daily needs.
The restaurant in the next village (Montorio) is renowned across the region, and there are many other local restaurants, within 10 to 15 minutes drive for great value and superb cooking. Bologna is of course recognised for being the 'food capital' of Italy with FICO, the largest collection of Italian food producers in the world, only half an hour’s drive away from the house.
For walkers and explorers: the local scenery is stunning whether walking on the roads or exploring the mountain tracks. We are about 15 minutes from the Via Degli Dei with its Roman path remains, and the area is crisscrossed with walking trails – mostly quite steep!) The WW11 Gothic line runs just due north of the house and there are many sites where ruins of the defensive line can be seen. There are also caves, hot springs, nature reserves and even a Turkish mock castle all within 20 minutes’ drive.
For motorcyclists: we are 20 minutes from the Passo Della Futa, Passo Raticosa and half an hour from the Mugello racetrack.
For cyclists: very steep mountain roads!
For shopping: Bologna has it all while the designer outlet 'Barberino di Mugello' is about 25 minutes away.
