Welcome to The Osprey Nest! Our riverside retreat is a classic Maine camp turned family run B&B / super cozy rental. We are open June thru September. We book ONE party per stay. If you are a couple, the whole place is yours! If you are a family, the whole place is yours. Dreamy! The rate is $285 nightly based on a 2 person occupancy with stocked breakfast staples for “self serve”. This rate does not include the 9% ME state tax, cleaning or service fees.

The space
Relax in our riverside cottages...

A classic Maine camp turned family run riverside retreat, The Osprey Nest is a collection of small buildings that we have restored and updated over the past 15 years. Many of the original items are integrated into the design of the buildings.

We live in a quiet rural area in midcoast
Maine, but are close to Rt. 1 and the towns of Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta... however, when you are down by the river you really do feel like you are a world away. Our family home is close by on the property... just about 250 feet up a sloping hill, but again - when you are down by the river, your focus is drawn to the water and everything else seems to disappear.

The Osprey Nest can accommodate a maximum of four adults during a given stay. The rate of $285 is based on a two person occupancy with an additional charge of $100 per person up to the aforementioned maximum of four adults.

Our approach to hosting has morphed over the past 11 seasons especially in the way we handle breakfast. When we started out, we served full breakfasts. Then around 2020, we offered a fully stocked kitchen and self serve option. By 2023, it seemed that most people prefer to bring their own groceries and enjoy the total privacy that our location provides while creating their breakfasts on their own schedule. And so, our approach to breakfast has changed.

Upon arrival, the Boat Barn will be still stocked with classic breakfast staples such as coffee, tea, milk, butter, oatmeal and eggs from right up the road. We encourage you to bring any other items that you would like to have such as fruit, vegetables, yogurt, bread and other perishables as we will be only be supplying the basics in 2025. We always have oils, salt, pepper and a wide variety of spices available for your use. You are encouraged to use what we have provided! The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, stove top, toaster over, microwave, electric water kettle and coffee maker.

The 9% Maine state lodging tax (known as occupancy tax on Airbnb), cleaning fee and Airbnb service fees will be figured into your total bill by Airbnb.

Guest access
Guests will have exclusive use of the riverside facilities... private parking area, use of the Boat Barn (living room, kitchen, dining room), and use of the Bath House which houses a beautifully tiled shower, toilet and sink.

Water, tea and coffee are always available for self-service at any time in the Boat Barn as well as basic staples.

Towels, shampoo, soap and hairdryer are provided in the Bath House. A first aid kit, bug lotion/spray and flashlights are also available on the premises. Other amenities, such as an alarm clock, are available upon request.

Neighborhood highlights

Our home is located on a beautiful tidal river, The Marsh River - a tributary of the Sheepscot River. The part-fresh/part saltwater river rises and falls with the tide and so although it is possible to access the river at any time for paddling or swimming, it is most enjoyable to go out with mid-high tide and avoid getting stuck in the mud.

We have a freight train that passes by on a limited schedule. It is a treat, not an intrusion. When you hear the whistle blow and the distant rumble, you know it will soon come over the bridge... it's a very special spot.

Our road dead ends into an island residence and so beyond our home are only four others... that's it. Not a lot of traffic. We all know each other and it is quiet.

Sheep and cows graze nearby, the occasional seal swims up the river and Great Blue Herons, Osprey and Bald Eagles live here too. Coyotes can be heard from across the river at night sometimes... in June, the fireflies are magical. The rare Moose has been spotted and we have a local porcupine, a lot of friendly chipmunks and a tribe of turkeys that like to visit us daily. Along with the handful of lovely human neighbors!

We found a sweet spot and look forward to sharing it with you.
