About this listing

This hexagon hut is situated on its own on land that is half orchard half woodland, 5 Km from Westport. It gives a nice view over the natural environment with wild life and low key farming. A few goats and a few hens roam in the adjoining field.

The space

The hexagon shaped cabin has decking on both sides to enjoy morning sun as well as evening sun. On the morning sun side, where the door is, the decking leads to the little bathroom building. The cuckoo is around from the end of April until the end of May. The Owenwee river with salmon and trout runs on about 200 Meter distance. Westport town is on 5 Km distance. Clew bay 2 Km . Nearest beach 7 Km.

There is a nice and safe place to park the car at the bottom of the path leading to the cabin.
Guests are free to roam the one third of an acre around the hut. There are beautiful walks around without having to use the car. One of the few native woods left is only 1,5 Km away.
From 1 April till 1 October I don't take bookings for less than 3 nights

Irma's place is an absolute treasure! It is more beautiful than the pictures and the perfect weekend getaway. Checking in and out was a breeze and we were amazed by how well equipped the kitchen was. We cooked multiple meals there and never wanted for anything. Thank you Irma!

I didn't realise how beautiful Ireland was until I went on this trip, Irma's cabin definitely made our trip! Very cosy, clean and comfortable. We had breakfast in the porch right in the middle of nature, went out for the day and then once we came back we lit the fire place. A truly extraordinary cabin in a breath taking location. Leenaun, clew bay beach, Croagh Patrick, cycling to Newport and if you have time a road trip to Achill Island is definitely worth a visit. Thank you Irma for your hospitality! :) Hope to come back soon!

When we got there the setting of the cabin is wonderful. I was worried about heat would we be warm enough at night etc, this is not an issue with the fire the cabin heats up within minuets and stays warm/hot for hours. The first night we put 3 briquets on the fire after it was started and had to open the windows for an hour to cool down! I would not hesitate to book again even in the depths of winter. We will be having a repeat visit.

We had a wonderful stay at Irma's cabin. It was comfortable for the two of us, so warm with the stove on, and Irma's welcome with fresh bread and eggs was very nice. It's location is stunning and it was wonderful waking up to the big windows and views across the hills. Westport town and Quay wasn't far and so we enjoyed evenings and meals out too. Thank you Irma for letting us stay in your wonderful wooden hexagon!

Irma User ProfileIrma is a superhost.

I am a happy person. I am retired, but extremely busy with all the things I love: minding my animals and garden, studying, playing music and painting.
