It's charm is immediately impressive as you enter into a fabulously tiled living space made of imported Brazilian coconut shells. The veiled bed chamber toys playfully with a full-length glass walled shower, making this an ideal setting for couples. The living room, kitchen and street-front balcony are most endearing and offer all the modern conveniences to leave you feeling comfortably at (website hidden) lift

Beyond the apartment, you will find a bounty of local boutiques, galleries, bars and cafes with plenty of transit options, museums, markets and the Mediterranean just a short walk away. To strike out from the Cocoon is to lose yourself in the web of medieval streets characteristic of the old city. There's no shortage of access or adventure when staying in el Born!

  • I stayed at the Cocoon apartment for 5 nights in Oct 2013. It is situated in a great location in the Born district, within walking distance of a ton of great restaurants and shops. The neighborhood is quiet so you'll be sure to get a good night's rest. There's not much public transport access to the area, but you can walk to almost everything so that wasn't really a problem.

The apartment has everything you need, from a washer/dryer to a fast wi-fi connection. The bed is comfortable, and the linens/towels were freshly cleaned. Also Barcelona can get humid, so having an air conditioning unit in the apartment was a definite plus.

One thing to watch out for (as others have mentioned) is that the apartment is up 4 floors with a narrow staircase. So getting luggage up/down isn't easy, but then again it wasn't that hard either.

Overall my stay was pleasant. For the price you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to stay.

  • Very cozy apartment, very comfortable. There are many nice bars and restaurants, all at walking distance. Loved it and would stay there any time again!

  • My girlfriends and I stayed here for 5 nights before flying out to Rome and we had a lovely experience. Titi, the staff who greeted us the first day was very friendly, helpful and pleasant to deal with. She walked us through the house and showed us how everything worked, from the washer and dryer, stove top to the tv, she even gave us a Barcelona map and highlighted the tourist sites. Overall she was very sweet and awesome!
We had no issues with this apartment, it was almost centrally located and within walking distance to food markets, shopping and dining.
Thank you! I highly recommend this place and working with the staff who are attentive.

  • The Borne Cocoon is a fantastic little hide-away right in the middle of the most beautiful part of Barcelona. We found it super cozy and with everything we needed to enjoy this fantastic city, and since the location is so central it only took a short walk to get pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. I can highly recommend you stay here too. Many many thanks to Hanzel and Titi for being so flexible and helpful, you guys are awesome.

  • If you want to experience the hip culture in Barcelona and get access to the greatest food in town, don't look further. The studio was exactly as described, clean and well decorated, with pretty much everything we needed blow dryer, iron, full kitchen. Titi was a very nice host who gave us lots of tips and help, she even booked us a taxi to airport(we don't speak any Spanish, sadly) The only problem we had was, the stairs to the unit is kind of narrow, climbing the stairs with heavy luggage can be challenging.

  • We LOVED the Cocoon. We had six nights in Barcelona, and the apartment was the perfect location to enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer. The neighborhood of El Born is a really fantastic place to stay - the winding alleys, full of great shops and restaurants, and somehow far less crowded and touristy than the Gothic Quarter, which we really appreciated. Hanzel and Titi were excellent hosts and Titi was available throughout our stay to answer questions and helpfully booked our morning taxi for us for our ride to the airport on the day we left. Be sure to visit Maxo's gallery downstairs - a very talented artist, but also a really great guy and very eager to recommend places to eat, things to do, etc. The apartment also has a guest book full of great recommendations from other guests, many of which we followed. The bakery across the street (Maria's) makes beautiful croissants, which we enjoyed each morning. The apartment is spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and even on a busy street we had no issues with noise at night. We loved the neighborhood feel, the design and the location and this will definitely be a repeat for us - we can't wait to get back to Barcelona and the Cocoon.

  • We loved staying at Hanzel & Titi's Apartment. The apartment was clean and looked exactly like the pictures.
Hanzel and Titi are wonderful hosts. They were available for questions via text.

  • I am writing my honest opinion. Our stay at the Cocoon apartment was only ok. The location of the apartment was pretty good, really, you can't beat it. Unless you would rather stay closer to Plaza Catalunya. Then staying at the Gracia neighborhood might be a better option. The born area where the Coccon is located is a cool artsy neighborhood. It is close to the picasso museum, a short walk to the gothic quarter and metro station. We walked there early morning hours and always felt pretty safe.
The apartment was well equiped but unfortunately it wasn't very clean for my standards. It did have clean towels and sheets, however the floors were pretty dirty and the sofa bed in the living room had very nasty looking stains once you unfold the cushion.
The hallway/stairs leading up to the apartment was really narrow making it tricky to go up or down carrying heavy luggage.
Check in and check out process were easy, and I enjoyed having a washing machine in the apartment.

  • Our stay was fantastic for three reasons:

    1. Hanzel and Titi are wonderful hosts. They communicated regularly via text and email, were available for questions we had during our stay, provided information about local sights, and very warm yet professional.

    2. The location. This room is in a lovely area of Barcelona - near many important sights, gardens, and the Mediterranean. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the townsy atmosphere!

    3. The flat. The flat itself was the crown jewel. A mix of old-world, three hundred year old building with modern details such as fast wifi, air conditioning, washer/dryer and full kitchen with all the basic utensils you would need to prepare a meal. I couldn't sleep most nights due to jet-lag, so I'd just brew a pot of tea and read or watch TV. It was just like home.

This is my first Air BnB experience and I would absolutely recommend this choice!

  • I LOVED staying at the Born Cocoon. I was traveling alone and felt super safe coming in and out of the area which is great because it is NOT touristy and still very central. I walked EVERYWHERE. The apartment is so nice and comfortable. Has great a/c and the kitchen is amazing. I didn't cook but I was able to get some treats from La Boquería and keep them in there and snack whenever I got back from exploring the city. They are super super nice and helpful when you arrive, making it so easy. Only negative would be the 4 narrow flights of stairs but I didn't really mind them. Apparently there is also access to the roof but I found out too late. :(

The bathroom is on the small side but very well appointed and has a GREAT shower. The bed is super comfy. They also have a really good list of restaurant and activity suggestions.

If I were to go to Barcelona again I would definitely stay here again.

It was a perfect first trip to Spain. Wish I had stayed longer!

    Thanks!!!!!
