About This Listing
Stylish cozy design studio flat in the heart of Trastevere. 35 sqm of Italian design, just renovated with love. Suspended wide double bed (NEW from Dec. 2014), super comfy design single sofabed (NEW from Apr. 2015). Antique building, cool atmosphere.
The space is perfect for two people: now (latest renovation March 2015) I have a wide and comfortable suspended double bed, plus a super comfy Danish design single sofabed (NEW from Apr. 2015) downstairs.
To reach the suspended bed you go up 5 beautifully designed stairs: beauty in design does not always mean comfort and the stairs are a bit high so not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
I keep on renovating the flat for myself, so I choose every single detail with special care.
Fancy that the new suspended bed structure has been made by a blacksmith which is not only an artist himself, but he is also the craftsman making the iron sculptures by Jannis Kounellis, the world famous artist.
I love design but I love tradition as well, so you will live in a contemporary cool place in a noble antique building. On the top of that, my neighbours are amazing people. The atmosphere is really cosy here. But I would say in Trastevere in general: think of this area like a small antique village in the middle of Rome.
I hope you will enjoy my apartment and feel at home. The flat is completely furnished and equipped for living. You will find on the table a complete Home Guide, but feel free to contact me for suggestions about where to buy food or have a nice walk.
Check-in and check-out time are set on AirBnB but I will always do my best to be flexible. Very often if you arrive before 3pm you can come, leave your luggage and take the keys while we prepare the flat for you. And when you leave, when we don't have a check-in on the same day, it will be my pleasure to let you check-out later than 10am.
Interaction with Guests
I travel often and when I am in Italy I usually stay in Milan. So it is likely I will not be there to welcome you when you arrive. But you will be welcomed by the sweetest woman in the world, my friend Helena: she is nice and helpful, I am sure she will make you feel at home.
Trastevere is a very special place, it is like a village in the middle of Rome. Alleys, small shops, old people sitting in the street in the summertime and a lot of nice bars to have an "aperitivo" in the evening. This used to be the artists' district in Rome, and the tradition is still alive. Every young and not so young Roman come to Trastevere in the weekend to have a nice goood romantic dinner.
Trastevere is walking distance from many attractive places, but it is well connected by public transports as well. It is walking distance from Campo de' Fiori (5 min), Piazza Navona (10/15 min), Pantheon (15/20 min), Piazza Venezia and Campidoglio (15/20 min), St.Peter's (20/30 min), Piazza di Spagna (30/40 min), Colosseum (40 min). I always walk to my appointments :)
Getting here from the airport or the central train station is quite easy: from Fiumicino Airport take the train to Fara Sabina/Orte (not the one to Termini central station: it takes longer and it is more expensive) and stop at Trastevere station. Then take the tram 8 and get off at Piazza Sonnino stop. The flat is 5 minutes walking.
From Ciampino Airport take the bus to Termini central train station, then take the bus "H" to Piazza Sonnino (the first stop after the bridge on the Tiber river).
Other Things to Note
I am new on AirBnB so I will be happy to note your suggestions. I have done my best to make the flat cosy, beautiful and special. I am sure you will have a nice experience in Trastevere. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming here.
I need to ask not to smoke in the flat. Let's keep it comfortable for the following guests ;) I prefer not to allow pets, the flat is not big enough for them. Everything is brand new or completely renovated, so please do not use candles (the moonlight in the alleys is at least as romantic!) and be respectful of everything as it were yours. I spent all my money to make things the best way: my aim is to make your stay in Trastevere unforgettable!
I stayed with a friend of mine at Simone's flat for 7 days and it was a great experience. The studio was nice and confortable with all we needed. The location was excellent next to plenty of restaurants, bars and the area was very peaceful. We just had to cross the Sisto Bridge and walk for 10 minutes to be in the Centro Historico and 20 minutes to be at the colleseum. It was nice to come back in the evening after a day walking in the streets of Roma and have a good meal in a restaurant not too far from our appartment, the best pîzza in Trastevere was next to our door ! Simone was helpful and we kept in touch during our staying.
If you project to go to Roma soon, don't hesite, stay at Simone's appartment !
Our host was totally accurate in describing the flat which was excellent, fully equipped and met all our needs. Simone kept me up-to-date at all times, and was especially helpful in sorting out a taxi for us from the airport. He answered all my queries promptly and thoroughly. the location of the flat in Trastevere was vibrant and ideally situated for restaurants. It was within walking distance from the centre of Rome.
I stayed for 5 days in Simones apartment, and was very satisfied. The apt. is not very big, but very effectively organized, just as described. Simones housekeeper Helena gave me a heartily welcome.
The best things with the apartment are that it is very nicely located, in the heart of Trastevere, but still in a quiet and piecefull little street, and that the bed is very good.
The perfect place to stay in Trastevere!
We enjoy so much our stay in Simone's flat. Everything was perfect. We've been kindly welcome by Simone himself, we had a coffee together and Simone share some tips with us ( good places for ice creams, breakfast etc...). The flat is exactly as it looks on the pictures, even larger ! Everything is very well organised, the suspended bed is very confortable, as well the brand new sofa bed. If you need you can find toothpast, washing powder etc..... The location is perfect, it is on a very pleasant small and peacefull place in Trastevere close from Sisto Bridge. We went by foot everywhere. Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona are at few minutes by foot, as well the Forum. It is also very easy to reach the flat by train and Tram from the Airport. The tram station is at less than 5 min.Thank you Simone for this nice stay, we already miss our breakfast at Meccanismo café! Please say hello from our part to your kind speaking french neighbour !
We hope to be back very soon!
It was an amazing experience at Simone’s flat. It was a designer’s house in fact. Very stylish, very comfortable and clean. Photographs are telling the truth, but there is more. First of all, Simone was very helpful and gave me a lot of information about the very lively neighbourhood Trastevere. He is a great host indeed. I found anything I needed in the house, from all mod cons to note pads, from city maps to shampoo, anything. This made me feel home, naturally. Although he was not in Rome himself, he had arranged lovely Helena to help me with check-in and check-out. Suspended bed is worth mentioning: it was utterly comfy and beautiful, designed by Simone and made by an artist. I would recommend the flat for those who are seeking homely comfort in the most beautiful neighbourhood of Rome, for those who want to get to all major attractions by walking. Briefly, it is a highly recommendable flat in a great location. I will definitely be staying at this place again in my next stay in rome.
About the Host, Simone
I am a creative director, concept designer and strategic consultant. I currently run an art and design studio with my partner Claudia. I travel a lot, I love it. I just renovated my beloved sweet home in Trastevere as I would live here myself, choosing carefelly every single element. I hope you will like it as I do!
If you need a chemist's you will find here super helpful doctors. But there is an hidden treasure as well: you can visit the antique "Spezieria", a pharmacy of the 16th century. Absolutely charming!
From Via della Scala and Arco di Porta Settimiana you can take (and climb up) Via Garibaldi to reach the Gianicolo hill, which offers incredible panoramic views of the city.
Have a romantic and/or healthy walk at the Botanical Garden, it is just a nice place only five minutes far from home
Go down the stairs at Ponte Sisto and go jogging or biking along the river. The stairs are not very clean usually, but the walk along the river is clean and safe.
The most traditional and the oldest bar (early morning till 1am) attended by the people every age living in Trastevere. Super cosy, super cheap. You can not miss their coffee "granita" with cream!
Nobody knows the Raphael frescoes at Villa Farnesina. It accommodates the Accademia dei Lincei, the world's most antique academy of sciences, and the "Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe".
"Antica caciara" is the best place where to buy traditional fresh food. Very affordable prices, super kind the owner. Ask for a vacuum-sealed package, so you can take back home some truly Roman food.
Have a nice walk on this small island in the middle of the Tiber river. In the summertime there are also bars and an open air cinema. But it is worth a romantic walk every time.
Nobody knows that from the Ghetto you can reach the Teatro Marcello crossing the Roman ruins for free in the daytime. Stunning short walk in the ruins and stunning starting point to visit the Ghetto.
