Communication with Derek leading up to our arrival was great and very efficient. Derek met us when we arrived, showed us around the house and very clearly explained how everything worked. We were made to feel very much at home and Derek was exceedingly warm, friendly and welcoming.
The house is located in a very residential area which was fine with us as we had our own car to get around. It's only a short drive to Abbot Kinney road and Venice Beach which I suppose could be within walking distance for those wanting to get a bit of exercise. The house itself is very modern and has all necessary amenities including a comfortable bed, a great shower and a spacious living room and kitchen. The Wifi was not working extremely well and we had a bit of a tough time getting a strong connection. This wasn't a major issue for us as we didn't spend a great deal of time in the house, but others may want to check with Derek to see if the connection could be improved.
Overall, it was a very satisfying stay and Derek was a wonderful host. I would overwhelmingly recommend staying here!
Derek is a gracious host with an incredible apartment. Upon arrival we instantly felt at home when Derek was ready and waiting to show us around the apartment. Before letting us to enjoy our vacation he asked if there was any question we had or anything we needed and told us not to hesitate to contact him with any future questions about our stay or places to visit. He is a great man with a great accent!!
As for the apartment, it is stylishly decorated with all applicances/utensils you'll need. All living areas were extremely clean and the bathroom even had some shampoo/lotion in case we needed it. The apartment is very roomy and comfortable to lounge around in if that is what you are looking for as well as very centrally located in the city. I read from previous reviews that there were bikes that were available to use if we wanted, which made short trips to the beach or to the store very easy and convienent!
All in all Derek and his Air BnB is a wonder place to stay and will definitely come back to next time I'm in Southern California!!
Derek and Sylvia have a fantastic place and are wonderful hosts. The air bnb is in a nice neighbourhood and provided us with everything we could possibly think of while on our month-long trip around the States.
We enjoyed using the bicycles to ride around the area!
Derek was a wonderful host from the moment we arrived to the minute we left! Derek was very responsive and helpful, especially when it came to recommending things to do in the city. The guest home was beautifully designed as well as very clean and spacious. The large sliding doors provided large amounts of sunlight and fresh air. The home is fully equipped with everything you would need, including a kitchenette, TV and bikes for personal use. This home is conveniently located--being only a few blocks from Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier.
We could not have asked for a better stay. Derek and Sylvia were such kind and warm souls who really made our stay in Los Angeles a memorable one. Derek and Sylvia are bright and charming individuals who made us feel right at home.
I would highly recommend anyone and everyone to stay at this guest home. I know I'll be visiting again!
We spent 5 days here, we strongly recommend it!
Derek and Silvia are wonderful hosts. It's a quiet and nice area, we didn't have to worry about ourselves or our car. All the time we could come and go as we pleased. It's a very modern, fresh and comfortable house and interior decoration!
As we came from Sweden we appreciate that it was a lot of IKEA furniture ;)
Thank you Derek and Silvia, you made our first week in the US amazing! And Ollie of course!
Rickard and Sonny from Sweden.
We had a great stay and felt very welcome and comfortable. The house is very relaxing, clean and well designed. We enjoyed using the bikes and checking out Venice beach. We would stay here again!
