I live across the street from the house, I will be there to check you in and check you out. I will be available to give you tips about area attractions, activities, restaurants or if you have any question about the house.
Is a cul-de-sac road, so very little traffic. There are only 8 houses in the neighborhood, it is very private, quiet and safe, away from the tourist bustle and traffic of downtown Manuel Antonio. Lots of nature and wildlife around the property, all kinds of birds, visits from 3 types of monkeys: squirrel monkeys, howlers and capuchins; occasional sloths also visit.
Downtown Quepos and its bus station is a 15 minute walk away from the property, although the way back in is uphill. Public Taxis reach the property and you can call them in from the house phone.

Elena, Elky and the dogs made us feel very welcome from the second we arrived. The road up the hill to the property is a bit "rustic," and the other reviewers are correct in that you need 4 WD to manage it, however the view and the property are totally worth it! The house is beautiful and was very spacious for our party of 4 adults. Everything was better than described. When we first reached the property we were greeted by Elky and the 4 friendly pups. Elky showed us around the property and later that day Elena checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us some useful information about the area. The next morning Elena brought us little bananas and plantains to feed the monkeys, this was truly a highlight of our trip. One morning we were even visited by the macaws. Elena explained that these birds were recently reintroduced to the area and really enjoy almonds of which there are 3 trees on the property. The private beach was also a highlight, the hike is a bit steep, but again entirely worth it in the end. We loved our stay here and hope to visit again!
Elena was very helpful, the place was fantastic and the dogs were a huge hit with our family. We had visits from the monkeys 3 of the 4 days we were there. The road was a little intimidating at first but we soon got used to it. The view was amazing and we walked to town for dinner one night. It was a great experience all around.
Elena's Casa Libertad is a very nice, luxuary and cosy place in the hills near Quepos downtown with a fantastic sea view . We spend four nights there. The house is modern, clean and has everything you need or even more. There are also two mountain bikes that you can use. Down to the centre of Quepos where you can find many sodas, supermarkets, a post office, banks / Atm's and a lot of other shopping possibilities it takes you about 5 minutes by car. The way up the hill to the casa is in a very bad condition. We saw normal cars getting up und down there but we recommend to have an 4x4 SUV type of car. We have not been to the small beach near the house which is only accessible when the tide is low because you have to hike or climb down a very steep trail and we didn't bring the right shoes for that purpose with us. Instead we drove about 20 minutes to the south to the manuel antonio park. Just in front of the park is a very beautiful and big beach. Elena is a really nice and friendly host. She was always there when we needed her. She helped us, gave information and answered all our questions. She has three lovely dogs that are all the time in the near of the house and likes to visit you from time to time. We saw three different types of monkey families just from the garden. This is definitely a 5 star accomodation for your stay in Costa Rica and we highly remommend it!! Thank you Elena and Elky!
This place was fantastic!! Perched on a hilltop at a dead-end road with gorgeous views of the ocean and just a short (albeit steep!) hike down to a private beach, it was quiet, private, and beautiful!! We were initially concerned about being a drive from Manuel Antonio Park, but after driving there twice on our visit, we were SO GLAD we had made the choice to stay out of the fray of that area!
Elena was an exceptional host, making us feel welcome and right at home from the very first contact. Absolutely LOVED meeting her sweet, sweet, family of doggies, kitties and most of all, the squirrel monkeys, which visit the home regularly.
The feel is modern and clean, with very spacious bedrooms and a huge living room. After being on the go the first nine days of our trip around CR, we were so grateful to have a home base that was so comfortable! We stayed in 5 different places during our travels in Costa Rica, and Elena's place was the absolute highlight!!
Our family stayed at Casa Libertad for 3 days in late December. We had a wonderful time here! Our host, Elena, was exceptionally kind and generous with her hospitality and advice. We asked her to recommend a place for dinner and she directed us to a fabulous restaurant where we ate the most amazing food overlooking a spectacular view of the water. On another day, we asked her to recommend a beach with few tourists, and she told us about a place an hour away which turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. And as for the house, it is super clean, spacious, and nicely designed with the added bonus of a full kitchen, plenty of hot water, a great view, a private beach and a menagerie of animals outside, both domestic and wild!
We arrived just after sunset so our drive up was in the dark. The directions Elena gave us were quite specific and got us to the house with minimal complications. The dogs Indiana, Chuleta and Malik welcomed us followed closely by Elena. She let us in and gave us a tour and then let us get settled in. For the next 9 days Elena and Elky were so wonderfully helpful with recommendations, directions and great conversations. Our 15 month old loved Elky, Elena and the dogs who were great with him.
Everything in the house functioned perfectly. Having laundry in the house was very nice. The beds were comfortable. The living space was more than adequate. The access to the cove was steep but well set. The snorkeling there was interesting and safe.
To sum it up, this is an amazing house in a fantastic location. Access to local markets and the freshest seafood make it even more enjoyable. Our most gracious hosts set us up with surf lessons and gave us directions to a super remote waterfall with great swimming holes. This place is top notch.
We had a wonderful time at Casa Libertad in Quepos. The house is in a secluded location but has all of the modern amenities of home. Elena came by with plantains on Sunday morning and we had quite the experience feeding the spider monkeys...more entertaining than feeding at the zoo. Her loving dogs helped fill the void when we missed our own dog on this trip.
We had some sporadic water interruptions for two days and Elena promptly responded with gallons of bottled water for drinking, washing, etc. Elena and Elke are wonderful hosts and I would highly recommend her house to anyone staying in Quepos area.
I have been living in the Manuel Antonio area for over 10 years, woking in real estate and vacation home rentals. That's why I have a very good knowledge about the area and activities to do when around. I also Love dogs and outdoor sports.
