The perfect stop for visitors passing by on the 101! Easy freeway access, gas station, and gourmet deli near by.
Shell Beach is a quaint community on California's Central Coast. This is a small town where the beach is within walking distance no matter where you are. We love it here and feel very grateful to live in such a beautiful place. We live in a comfortable 1970's house in a quiet cul-de-sac. We are a five-minute walk from nearby beach resorts where you can grab happy hour and watch one of our amazing sunsets. Or if you'd rather BYOB and picnic, you can walk to the beach or one of the nearby parks (and surf spot) a block away. We're also within walking distance to 2 coffee shops, a brewhouse, sushi, and a great little Mexican restaurant.
A few of the fun activities nearby: hiking, kayaking, surfing, biking, wine tasting – we are smack dab in the middle of wine country!
• 5 minute drive to Pismo Beach (3 wine bars, restaurants, pier, beach, billiards, bowling, clam chowder, monarch butterflies)
• 10 minute drive to Avila Beach (6 wine tasting rooms, restaurants, pier, beach, concerts)
• 12 minute drive to San Luis Obispo (wine bars, shopping, restaurants, pubs, art)
We are a pretty active couple and are busy most weekends, but if time allows we are more than happy to give the local tour and lots of recommendations. The perfect location for Cal Poly parents or anyone visiting students.
Continental breakfast of coffee, tea, and muffins is provided and you are more than welcome to use the kitchen to make your own meals.
We've highlighted all of our favorite hangouts in our Airbnb Guidebook!
Very comfortable double bed in this room.
Parking: We kindly request that you do not park in the driveway. Instead, you'll find plenty of parking in the cul-de-sac along the street.
Bathroom and shower is shared with one other person. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, the grill in the backyard, hang out in the front room, and store bikes in the garage.
Interaction with Guests
It's really hit or miss, but we tend to spend more time with guests who stay with us on the weekend.
We live in a quiet neighborhood that's great for walks, sunsets, and watching surfers. We're within walking distance to several coffee shops, restaurants, bars, a park to watch our gorgeous sunsets, and a great market/deli.
Restaurants, bars, and coffee shops are within walking distance. Or if you're up for it, we have two bikes that'll get you to Avila or Pismo.
Other Things to Note
Unfortunately, there is a lot of street work going on in Shell Beach at the moment. There is still plenty of street parking it's just not pleasant to look at.

The whole experience was nice. The room is small but the bed is really comfortable. The view at the sea is more than worth the price of the stay. You can never miss this.
Laureen welcomed us into her home and made us feel welcome from the start. The room was as described with a bathroom across the hall. The room was clean and comfortable. Lauren tildes of a few places to eat and we went to the Broken Crab which was a real experience. I would recommend this as a play to stay if driving the Pacific Coast Highway.
Me and my wife loved staying at Laureen & Brian's home. They have a wonderful cozy place that is very close to the beach, restaurants and provides a great opportunity to rest and relax. Both Laureen and Brian were very welcoming (when we had the chance to meet them).
This was my first stay with an Airbnb host & it was perfect! Laureen & Brian's home is in an ideal & convenient location within walking &/or short driving (5-10 minutes) distance from the beach, great restaurants (I recommend The Custom House at Avila Beach- fantastic food, service & setting!), the Oceano Dunes (riding ATV's in the dunes is fun!), lots of good shopping, wineries & one of the most beautiful State Parks that I've ever visited (Montana de Oro). The hosts were communicative & accessible & their home was cute, cozy, clean & comfortable. They left some yummy blueberry bran muffins, granola & coffee out for us on the morning that we left which helped fuel our hike that day. My husband & I agreed that this stay beat the nearby hotels by a long shot!
Like Laureen's room was full of warmth, the design, the health is very good, is the most satisfactory room during American swims!
Room very close distance from the coast, San Francisco, Losangeles and Las Vegas from modest, go easy, believe that the next will stay!

It's so close and so easy!
Walking distance, patio dining at sunset, and super fun summer concerts on the bluffs!

Fun bakery, market, and petting zoo.
This tasting room is in an old schoolhouse at the head of the Bob Jones Trail. Try the Rucks Red!
Soak in a private hot springs spa first and then enjoy a great massage. Plus, you can hop onto the Bob Jones trail from here and head to Avila.
Really delicious wine bar, especially if you want to taste some full-body whites.
A tourist favorite for clam chowder.
Who doesn't like a bucket of crab dumped all over their table?
A great stop to make along the Bob Jones trail for a huge wine selection and really tasty food. We recommend their wood-fired pizzas, house salad, and nightly specials. Enjoy their patio seating!
Quaint beach town with food and wine tasting rooms. Pismo might be more popular, but Avila is the beach all of us locals go to. No wind and always a few degrees warmer.
Among our favorite seafood on the central coast. Crab enchiladas with molé sauce is heavenly.
Tasty wine in the heart of See Canyon, our local source of over 60 varieties of apple.
Oh man, damn good wine. And they know it, so it's a bit more pricey. Great drive out there too!
One of our favorite nearby wineries in Edna valley. And one of our favorite Zinfandels.
Bike or walk to Avila Beach. This is one of our all time favorite things to do! There are two wineries along the way and seven more in Avila.
A very historic landmark. Check out the bathrooms!
Some say this is the best sushi restaurant they've ever eaten at. We agree.
Fresh seafood and incredible "no work" Cioppino dishes.
One of our go-to places for amazing food. The best creekside patio in SLO!
So easy a caveman can do it, seriously. It's like hiking on water. Just wait until you see a group of rays swim under you!
A very unique experience, along with a truly authentic menu and very fresh fish. A little pricey, but well worth it.
Dorn's is the single best restaurant in Morro Bay, partly because it has the best patio views as well.
