Small bedroom in small-ish house located just south of downtown. Simple, charming, convenient location, quiet, bath for your own use across hall, lovely yard. For single or couple.
Street side of house. Convenient side-street location, plenty of parking, 1.8 miles from middle of historic Taos.
One approximately 10x12 bedroom that is usually my sewing room (and therefore has my sewing table, and a dresser containing my materials). It's small, but comfortable and clean. Double/full bed, one side chair, small desk area with chair, and small closet space with hangers. The bathroom is right across the hall and is almost exclusively yours- the only time i use it is for a shower, as it currently has the only shower in the house, and i take them when guests are not around. Yes, i provide towels, and you are welcome to use the kitchen/living areas of the house- i have my own sitting area in my room in the back to be in if you like privacy. 23" LCD TV is in living room and has local broadcast channels, DVD/bluray, HDMI port, and streaming services such as Netflix. House does not have a landline telephone, nor satellite/cable TV, but entire house has wifi internet. Please note, this is my own private home and I am in it, so I need to know who you are! Please fill out your "About Me"/profile completely, provide photo, and get ID Verification, prior to requesting a reservation. This is especially important if you have no reviews yet. While filling out profile, imagine inviting a stranger into your home with you, and what you'd want to know about them. Thanks!
One 10x12 bedroom, one of the two bathrooms, kitchen, living/dining area, TV/DVD/streaming, and outdoor areas. Full access to all kitchen appliances, utensils, and ordinary condiments. Optional access to washing machine/dryer (ie, check with me first). You will have a key to the house, and be free to come and go as you please.
Interaction with Guests
I'm warm, relaxed, and friendly, yet quiet and private enough that i do not need to interact if it's not your preference, and am often involved in my own pursuits. A thirty-one year resident of Taos, I'm very happy to share local knowledge of everything from great places to eat and go, local attractions, hiking trails, hot springs, skiing, etc, and am involved in/have good knowledge of the local music scene. I've also got a very busy life and might not be around - I work a day-job, and often have music gigs or events in the evenings. You might sometimes find me spinning yarn on the patio, or practicing guitar. I generally do not provide breakfast or other meals, but am happy to share what i have on hand, such as coffee, tea, condiments, spices, and other basic items, and you are free to use the kitchen.
It's a nice, typical, mixed-income, mixed-cultural, fairly quiet residential neighborhood only a block and a half from coffee shops, restaurants, stores, theater, banks, and bus stops. The homes are around 40 years old and mostly classic Southwest style: one-story, pueblo-style stucco'd residences on quarter-to-half-acre lots. It's about a mile and half from Taos Plaza.
The Chile Line, Taos' town public bus line, is free and operates on weekdays (not evenings or weekends) and has stop on the major street one and a half blocks away, and runs one route into downtown. There is also an express $1 shuttle bus to Taos Ski Valley during the ski season, and town busses can take bicycles. However, public transportation is generally quite limited in rural northern NM, there are no taxis, and it's best to have a car. The middle of Taos' historic downtown- Taos Plaza- is a 1.5 mile bike ride or walk. I have ample parking for cars at my house, and driving and parking around Taos is as easy as a small town with one main thoroughfare generally is. Hiking trails start within two miles of the house, and there are abundant areas nearby to walk, hike, and bike. The new Rio Grande del Norte National Monument public lands are within a few miles, as is the Rio Grande Gorge, Taos Pueblo, rafting areas, hot springs, and many hiking and mountain biking trails.
Other Things to Note
Small bedroom is suitable for single or couple only. Bed is 8" thick inner-spring futon mattress with 1.5" memory-foam topper on a futon sofa frame. Am told it's more comfortable than many "real" (website hidden) cell coverage: Verizon is really the only cell carrier that has full coverage in Taos and across the mountains of northern New Mexico. t-Mobile and Sprint are at variable levels of ok, and ATT tends to have poor coverage in the area, regardless of what they claim. It's best to have your non-Verizon phone be able to "roam" on Verizon, especially outside of town.
The house is equipped with smoke/CO2 detectors, is completely up to code (which is not always the case in Taos) and all systems -wiring, plumbing, heat, appliances, etc- are upgraded and/or new within last ten years. Heat is hot water underfloor radiant and baseboard, quiet and comfortable. Taos is at 7,200' and rarely gets very hot in summer, so houses here generally do not have air conditioning, and this house is no exception.
Absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property, and no smokers or users of heavy scents (perfumes, incense, chemicals, etc), as I have a slight tendency to asthma. No pets. This is a quiet house for mature adults only, non-"partying".
Beautiful retreat in Taos! We had a great stay at Lisa's, the room is very nice and her backyard has beautiful views of the mountains. It's also a short drive to town. Highly recommend.
Lisa is a great host and responded to my request extremely fast. Her home was very comfortable which lead to a great nights sleep, much needed for me. I felt like I was staying with an old friend. Thank you very much.
Lisa was very kind and accommodating of our last-minute plans to stay in Taos. She is trustworthy, warm, and engaged in interesting projects. The space was comfortable and as described-- a private bedroom/sewing room. Though our time was brief, we wish we could have stayed longer to have a chance to get to know Lisa better. We felt safe and comfortable during our stay.
Lisa is a gentle soul, a talented musician, and an amazing Airbnb host. Her home was clean, bright, and welcoming, and the bed was very comfortable. I'm a musician myself, and I was happy to have a chance to watch Lisa perform at a gig that evening, and to see a side of Taos I wouldn't have otherwise experienced. Back at the house, we stayed up late talking shop and harmonizing, which was so much fun. Truly, it was the perfect end to my visit to New Mexico.
Lisa is a fantastic host. She is so open and friendly. When I talked with her, I felt that I was at home. The room is clean and neat. I love to stay at Lisa's place when I come here again.
Lisa made me feel very welcome and was really helpful letting me know about different activities around Taos. The room was very clean and comfortable. I definitely recommend staying here!
Lisa is an awesome host. It was a pleasure to be able to meet her. She was very accomidating and her house was a lovely place to stay. We had arrived early and Lisa was understanding and even gave us the grand tour before our specified check in time. It was a little sad to have to check out and leave. Lisa is such a gracious host and is an absolute pleasure to speak with. Any body who meets Lisa is in for a very pleasant experience.

I'm an artist and singer-songwriter who has lived in Taos, New Mexico for over thirty years. Very involved in the music scene, also am an hiker, skier, gardener, writer, fiberartist, and outdoors photographer.
I have a quiet, relaxed, open style, and am not intrusive, but will, when wanted, happily share my extensive "locals" knowledge of the music scene, hiking trails, places to eat and see, yoga places, etc.
