gorgeous artist warehouse space

The Space

we really don't have a pony, but sure wish we did!!
am actually getting close to having a horse, likely won't
be kept here though.
the space is of course furnished. it's minimalist and quite comfortable.

ATTN: we can't accept families w/ children younger than
8(EIGHT YEARS) of age. the space isn't suitable for those
younger.
PLEASE use AirBnB msging for communication. that's a big help, i won't miss msgs that go to the rubbish file. thank you
no "texting" msging ability.
CHECK IN/OUT:
Each host has a time that will work into her/his schedule given these are our homes and there is not 24/7 front desk concierge like in a hotel! We offer much more than a hotel but keep this in mind when seeing the myriad of different and unique check in/check outs.
For me a check in of 2pm+ (even if that means after midnight if needed) or into the wee hours of the morning (Check out 11am sharp)
Please try and inform me of rough +- time you'd like to
check in, it's courteous and free's my day for other activities.
PEOPLE: often ask about the safety of the neighborhood -- it's urban and ethnically diverse -- so you have an eclectic mix of working professionals, grit, artists, homeless and hipsters.
West Oakland is the birthplace of the Black Panthers, it's
NOT a white suburban environment filled w/ shopping venues.
this neighborhood is an artists mecca, likely more density than anywhere else in america w/ the exception of santa fe,nm.
there are million dollar places next to chicken coops as they say. speaking of which we're in the process of building now, love fresh eggs!!
West Oakland was a manufacturing center for decades, now
those same buildings have been converted to live/work units.
they are filled w/ vibrant artists who can't afford to live in san francisco.
If you feel comfortable with this description, you will feel comfortable here. I personally love the area and feel safe.

eclectic LIVE/work warehouse.
very private, quiet, paradise in one of the best location(s) in w. oakland. enormous yard, w/ garden, plenty of flowers,
space for relaxation, solitude if desired.
we are less than a 1/2 mile from the bay bridge.
w. oakland bart is less than a mile as well.
having said that, regarding "mass transit",
many find the 1 mile walk to be too much and the time
schedule often interferes w/ guests schedules.
there are of course many restaurants in nearby
downtown w/ choices ranging from the low end
to several hundred $$. currently there are 7 LIVE/work
units for working artist(s) in residence.

comfortable large one bedroom 800sq' w/ two regally designed bath/shower toilet facilities, a bidet(only 2 in oakland) and a professional kitchen w/ wolf range are a short walk from your house to the "main house". shared w/ 4 other tenants, conflict of schedule has never been a problem. you can make several completely different meals simultaneously in the kitchen, which is encouraged though doesn't happen often enough. we're very fond of european guest(s) cooking, hint, hint!
gorgeous outdoor fullbath/shower, surrounded by wisteria and jasmine, you can eat white french strawberries from the tub. the outdoor shower/bath is a luxury option.

(website hidden)
we are literally 4 blocks from several of these locations and recently the fabulous Korean rest. "Fuse Box" opened, literally 75' from our front door!! "Brown Sugar Kitchen" is 2 blocks away as well!!
west oakland is rapidly developing warehouse/artiste environment, you will be pleasantly surprised by the clever use of what are now industrial warehouse conversions to live/work environments.

please take the time to read "House Rules".
there is a FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit of 150 dollars.
of course i want nothing more than to return ALL OF IT!!
not keen on dogs, made a serious effort to no avail.

  • Great funky spot. Brea was lovely host. Though we didn't meet personally, as I was producing a big conference, my guests and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • Great stay. Is a fantastic space, nice garden area out back. Both Brea's listings are great. Good towels, a lot of art and the location is kind of intriguing.

  • Brea was great and a pleasure to deal with. Her space is very unique.

  • Brea was a terrific host with across-the-map insight and we all thoroughly enjoyed very animated conversation. The space was great; the rooms were spacious and had a unique feel. Even better was the outdoor courtyard which included an eclectic mix of flowers, plants, lawn chairs, benches, picnic tables and a big artistic et cetera: a perfect afternoon hangout spot. A personal favorite was the outdoor shower in the Oakland sun infused with the floral aroma of the surrounding flower walls. Would definitely stay with Brea again.

  • What a beautiful, unique, romantic space!

Brea has created a lovely and welcoming environment. My girlfriend and I felt very welcomed by Brea and other residents. We were there to celebrate her birthday and were left to enjoy ourselves while we were there.

The space has to be seen and experienced. We visited as locals looking for an in-town escape and that's exactly what we got. I decided on the space after looking at boring and scarce local hotels- my girlfriend has been looking to create a warehouse live/work space and I figured this would be an opportunity for her to experience a couple nights of converted warehouse life. She loved it. We walked to Brown Sugar for breakfast. Dinner at nearby Kingston 11 (Jamaican...we drove).

Brea was easy to communicate with and the entire stay was smooth from beginning to end. This space is one if a kind. I'd highly recommend a stay with Brea. We will be back.

  • I've stayed at Brea's place twice now and I love it! Really comfortable and relaxing with an inspiring atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

  • Staying at Brea's house park has been a great moment. The individual spaces are gigantic. I was alone but had three king size beds available + a super large desk to work whenever I needed. If you love to debate about politics, economy, stock market, new technologies, but also healthcare, retail business opportunities, environment, made in China products, start-ups valuation... BREA WILL BE YOUR MAN! I didn't know East Bay, and I must say most of my friends were scaring me about Oakland :-))) But what I discovered is a peaceful city and community, respectful, helpful, and arty people. Cool deal. I strongly recommend. Jide.

  • I really enjoyed my stay here, the warehouse is awesome. Brea is very accommodating and very easily reached--she's either around somewhere in the house or can be reached by airbnb messaging. She always got back to me within an hour if I sent her a message. This is a truly unique space and would highly recommend staying here.

  • Wonderful stay at Brea's artist warehouse space. We felt very welcome and at home during our three night stay. The space was absolutely beautifully decorated, with two amazing bathrooms, a spacious courtyard and our room was very large and comfortable. Also very accessible to San Francisco, with a cheap train ride away. Will definitely be visiting again next time we're in the area, thanks Brea!

  • My 11 year old son and I arrived mid day on a Friday, at first the neighbourhood seemed a little rough for a single mother and her son. Once Brea opened the door to the little oasis so lovingly created we were in love. Our contemplation upon leaving ( after 6 nights) was that this delightful warehouse space MADE our trip! The people were so kind, the outdoor bath... nummmmy everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed the company in the kitchen when we weren't out tantalizing our taste buds 3 doors down at Fuze Box. Thank you to everyone for all your kindness.
