  • This place has an excellent view and it is great for a group of people to stay (the site says 10 but really one room is full of bunk beds and sleeps 6 kids. I recommend it's best for three couples for the three other bedrooms. The location is excellent, can walk 10min down to the beach! The kitchen and bathrooms are very very nice and clean! There is a BBQ hut outside but kind of run down, but it is useable. The third floor deck was our only problem (seems to be rotting so we had an ant problem and they were entering the room). The molding on the upstairs window was also old so when it rained we had water dripping down to the sofa area. The owners were informed and were kind enough to give us a generous refund for our inconvenience. What can be improved: upstairs deck, a fan or an air condititionning in the third floor since it gets very hot there. They could have a tv, or at least a radio for music, the wifi was not set up yet when we arrived. Also they could provide an umbrella and some clean beach chairs for the number of people staying there. There is room for two hammocks on the bottom deck but we only had one. The owners apologized for the issues and were very quick to help us out and give us some
Money back! I very much enjoyed the wooden cottage family feel ! Great place just needs a better maintenance to provide the renter with a top quality house, it's expensive enough that it deserves to come with a top notch service! Very recommend! Surf read or relax by the beach!

Ps. Need a car to explore other beaches nearby, the town does not have much resto/party option (garopaba or rosa beach is the best for that)!

    Response from Kay & Augusto:

We are so glad to have heard you had a great holiday in Ferrugem despite the pre-season glitches, that we appreciate being pointed out. We had installed new floors and replaced the lower deck prior to this season, and had some maintenance done to the expansive glass panels as well - we were disappointed to learn some caulking was missed, resulting in a leak. We have asked them to come repair that and to look at the deck (new in 2006 of Ipe, so shouldn't be rotting - we think the culprit is the door sill). We also made sure it has been fully fumigated for future guests. We will look into getting more fans, hammock and umbrellas and will make sure the beach chairs are easy to find (they must be in the storage room). We have reduced the price until we've been there ourselves to inspect and make sure it is the top-both accommodation we expect to provide our guests.

  • i think we have been very lucky.
perfect weather, understanding neighbors, no other pale faced europeans ;-)
everything run trouble free, ...ehh except or arrival
but thanks to Naida we finally found the house :-)

I am an architect (as is my husband), dividing my time between Mount Desert Island, Maine, where I have an architectural firm and Santa Catarina, Brazil, where we escape the cold. We are a family of 6, the oldest son sudies in Madrid and we like to travel every chance we get because life is short and there is so much to get to know about the world! When we travel, we like to be relaxed, walk a lot, see beautiful things, and try nice food and wine. We like to stay at places that say something about the place they are in, are stylish but comfortable. Our children (8-19) are well traveled and behaved.
