3rd floor Cozy Bedroom Suite, incredible views, simple design, combined with hospitality from the heart. Only a 10 min drive to local restaurants (no kitchen in this space).

The Hosts live on the 2nd floor, there may be guests in our 1st floor unit.

The space
Our home is in Oakhurst, a 30 minute drive to the South Gate entrance to Yosemite. It is a 1 hour drive to Tunnel View and 1.5 hours to the Valley floor.

After walking up the external entrance stairs you will see your deck with a bistro table for two, perched high above the sloped 2.5 acre wooded hillside. The French door, with your personal entrance code, opens into a sitting/reading area with large windows, ceiling fan, settee and leather Stressless chair/ottoman.

Inside the closet there is a mini-refrigerator to chill drinks & breakfast items that don't require cooking, next to the cabinet that holds your Nespresso coffee maker, with a full supply of coffee capsules and tea bags.

(There is no cooking in the space and we ask that any take-out food that might leave a strong odor in the room be disposed of in the outside trash cans near the garage on the ground level - trash bags provided).

On the other side of the room is a breathtaking view of the valley with downtown Oakhurst in the distance, through an arched window that is the first thing you see as you wake up in the king size bed (2 twins connected). The mattresses are firm with a 3" inch thick Tempurpedic pad and insect/allergy free complete covers, quality 100% cotton sheets, & a down comforter (extra regular blankets available). There is also a ceiling fan above the bed and with screens on the windows many nights are cool enough to enjoy listening to the crickets and frogs at night and the birds in the morning.

There is a mini-split heating/air-conditioner unit with remote control. The door into our space on the 2nd floor is locked during your stay and we will not enter your space unless it's an emergency or requested by you. You might be able to hear us watching tv or talking below.

The full bathroom is behind the sliding barn door and includes a separate shower & tub, tile/granite surfaces and a Toto Washlet toilet. Cafe curtains are on the front windows but no covering needed for the small side window.

All other windows in the main sitting & sleeping area have either curtains or pull-down shades except the upper arch near the bed (there is some light that comes in from the town, it cannot be made totally dark).

Where you’ll be

Oakhurst, California, United States

The town of Oakhurst is a small mountain town that is very quiet in the winter and comes alive with visitors to Yosemite in the summer. The best places to eat can get a little crowded in peak season and often times close earlier than larger cities (between 8-9 pm).
There are 2 major grocery stores, gift shops, discount/thrift stores and local eateries with a variety of styles of food. The locals are friendly and welcoming to our many guests from around the world. We encourage you to allow some time to check out these unique shops.

Our immediate neighborhood is an easy 10 minute drive from the edge of town with fully paved roads and driveway except the drainage area in front of our garage. Our neighbors are close enough to feel safe but far enough away to keep it quiet and peaceful (except for the occasional sounds of tree/yard work during the day). We can hear many birds, frogs, and sometimes coyotes at night and early mornings.

We experience all 4 seasons with only a few days of snow in the Winter, wild flowers in the Spring, long warm Summer days and a beautiful mild Autumn.

We are a husband and wife team with decades of travel experience who love to offer hospitality to fellow sojourners. Lenny recently retired from his over 30 year High Tech career and picked up Real Estate and Vacation Rental Managing as his post-retirement adventure. In 2010 Teresa transitioned from full time home-maker/mother/non-profit volunteer to professional Artist (mostly acrylic and watercolor painting). Our greatest adventure together was a 4 year temporary assignment in Yokohama, Japan where we both fell in love with the culture and all the beauty (and delicious food) this welcoming country has to offer. That experience also affected our way of hosting - Omotanashi can be described as ‘….wholeheartedly looking after guests…with a mindset of care rather than expectation.’

In 2016 we made Oakhurst, CA our home base and added hiking to our many interests. We have discovered local hiking trails as well as the well known Yosemite day trips.

We describe our approach to life as "Live, Create, Connect". We see ourselves as people designed to be fully alive, co-creating and connecting with others in meaningful ways. We both enjoy creating….Lenny’s love and experience with photography also led to him getting his professional drone license.

Collectively we love natural beauty, hiking, photography, art, music, good food, dancing, watching British mystery tv series, home-improvement shows, cooking, baking sourdough bread, walking/exploring new cities and countries, reading, family gatherings, playing with grandchildren, and talking for hours with our friends.

Hosting has allowed us to make new friends all over the world. We look forward to meeting you when you stay at one of our vacation homes or when we travel to your neck of the woods.

If you want extra privacy please let us know. If you have special needs that our main house can provide we are open to sharing depending on our own circumstances during your visit. We love to answer questions and help make your visit special if we can.

After living in Japan for 4 years we grew to love and wanted to emulate Japanese style hospitality called Omotenashi. We have an attention to detail and a desire to serve/meet needs before we are asked.
