About This Listing
Modern 1BR, with 2 chaises and a daybed that splits to twins. Outdoor hot tub. Less than 3 blocks to metro/Marriot, 6 blocks from the zoo, and only two stops from downtown. Walking distance to restaurants, running trails, and other awesomeness.
Zebrawood floors, brightly colored furniture, a full kitchen, and funky modern touches make for a fun getaway, while allowing the flexibility for entertaining. I've listed the apartment to accomodate 4, but it could likely accomodate kids on the chaises as well. The bathroom has a shower and bath. The apartment has a separate entrance in the back of the house. There is no parking available. The bed is a queen size bed with a memory foam mattress. Less than two blocks from the Marriott and 4 from the Omni Shoreham.
Cable, wifi, the hot tub.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the house above the apartment, and unfortunately our thermostats are connected, but I am happy to set it at your desired temperature. Happy to answer any questions and guide you (I know a buncha delivery food options and some cool running trails.) But I'll take my lead from you and fully respect your privacy. If you look at my reviews, its clear that the folks who want a cool space in a great location but can be flexible with glitches that happen in houses and a host that works fulltime and travels a fair bit find the space spectacular and a great deal. Those that want a whole lot of interaction, breakfast, and "glasses of milk when they arrive" without warning in advance may well be disappointed. I give out great ratings to guests and will do everything I can to make your stay enjoyable I just wanted t
As a single mom with a young (but won't disturb you) child, Woodley Park makes us both happy. It's safe and beautiful and an easy walk to the zoo, farmers market, and Rock Creek Park trails. A quick metro to the monuments/museums and a short Uber away from 14th, H, and U streets to say nothing of the Sushi, Lebanese, Indian, Organic Chinese, and other assorted restaurants just blocks away. We alternate between wandering around neighborhood or hanging out in the hot tub under the trees and are very happy either way!
Metro, Uber, and taxis are all easy to come by.
Other Things to Note
This is a new rental, priced low because there may be hiccups. I will do everything in my power to make your stay awesome and have done everything to market the place accurately, please let me know if there are recommendations you have for improvements.
It's a residential neighborhood and I really like my neighbors, so please keep noise to a minimum between 10pm and 7am.
Any costs incurred on cable are yours to pay.
No smoking anywhere on the property.
Any more than 4 people, must be pre-approved.
Check in is anytime after 4, check out at noon.
Location is everything, and Alison's place was perfect in every way. Situated on what is essentially a cul-de-sac on a quiet tree-lined street, and a hop, skip, and jump to the Metro, made our stay here exactly what we needed it to be. The apartment was a lovely retreat after long days out and visiting with family.
We really appreciated Alison's attentiveness to the air conditioning situation. Our visit coincided with an early heatwave and temps hovering near 90. Since the heat & a/c controls for the unit are currently upstairs (something she said will be changed in the future), she was quick to respond to a request for warmer air. Her adjustment was perfect, and we northern Californians were grateful for days of non-freezing air!
The only "issue" we experienced was upon arrival: the apartment hadn't been cleaned and reassembled after the previous guests. Alison was sooo apologetic and had the space turned around while we were out to dinner. A refund on the cleaning deposit was offered and graciously accepted.
We'd definitely stay here again, and hopefully, that will be during a cooler time. It was too warm to even think about using the hot tub!
Vielen Dank Alison.

Listing of the description was complete accurate, as are the photos. The place is spacious, bright, clean and completely new! Alison was in touch by e-mail and text, and I was able to have her adjust the temperature to my liking (via her thermostat upstairs). One can actually close off each of the vents in the ceiling to decrease air flow which helped to make it less cold. Great water pressure and temperature in the shower. The hot tub was amazing - wish I had used it more! Changing colored lights with multiple jacuzzi jet settings. The cover to the hot tub is easy to remove solo, but is heavier than it looks, making it a little bit of a struggle getting it back on by myself! I know DC well, so the neighborhood was familiar to me - just 5 minutes walk to the metro, and one can cut through the Marriott to make it even quicker. A few great food choices even for foodies in the area, within walking distance - I even took out from Hot n' Juicy which saved me a lot of time as the wait was quite long!
Alison was very accommodating. Our flight was delayed over three hours and we couldn't get to her place until 2 am! But, she made sure we could access the apartment when we got there. The apartment is very clean, neat, bright and comfortable. The area where the apartment is located is quiet and close to the zoo. There was plenty of hot water and the shower/bathtub has great water pressure. The large bed is firm, the twin bolster bed is soft, and the green couch (which we used as a bed) is medium- which was great because all three of us (the adults) like a different level of firmness when sleeping. Alison provided us with a parking pass for zone 3 and two metro passes too. There was also plenty of parking close to the apartment. When we were getting ready to leave my granddaughter asked "Will we stay at this hotel the next time we come?" and I asked her if she wanted to she said, "YES". We all agreed that we would definitely stay at Alison's place again. This was our first experience with Airbnb and we were definitely pleased.
The listing was exactly as pictured but the setting and location were even better. Set on a quiet tree-lined street with easy parking, it made me want to move back to the DC area.
We were attending a conference at the Marriott just down the hill and were able to walk there, to the Washington Hilton and to various good restaurants in the immediate area. We visit at least once a year and would definitely consider staying here again.
We wish to thank you so much for providing such wonderful accommodation. We particularly appreciated the excellent bed and pillows. All the facilities were excellent and we felt at home in such beautiful environs. Thank you for sharing your house with us
with kind regards

Great location, quiet neighborhood, and Alison had a visitor permit for parking our car. Clean apartment and a comfortable bed. Would definitely stay here again.
About the Host, Alison
Thanks for visiting my page. I've just remodeled my basement apartment and will be renting it out when I don't have friends staying with me. It's a pretty awesome space. My nextdoor neighbors have a similar apartment listed here as well, so if you're travelling with a group/two families. Rent 'em both!
