The Space

~ Please note: No profile, no booking! ~
Just as you'd like to know a bit about me, I'd also like to know who's coming to stay. Please complete your profile with some info about yourself and let me know the reason for your visit.

~ The Apartment ~
Modern and spacious, located on the 2nd floor and has an elevator, so there are no stairs to climb. The whole apartment is 100m2 and has central heating and fast wireless internet (60MB). There is a nice outdoor living space on the balcony, perfect for chilling in the afternoon sun. Smoking also outside please. There's a separate toilet and a bathroom with a bath and a shower. A hair dryer and shower gels are there for you to use. You'll share the toilet and bathroom with me and any guests that may be staying in the other room at the same time.

~ Private Bedroom ~
The room is a private bedroom in a shared apartment. It's big (21m2), with a set of two large windows that give plenty of light. It has a double bed (which can be separated to accommodate two singles), a couch, desk, lockable cabinet and TV. There is a closet and set of draws with plenty of room for your clothes. Your bed will be made with clean sheets and fresh towels are provided. This room is perfect if it's space and privacy you're after.

~ Guest Kitchen ~
There is a separate guest kitchen equipped with a fridge, microwave/convection oven and toaster for preparing breakfasts and small meals. Please help yourself to the tea, coffee, biscuits, etc provided in the guest kitchen. A cooked breakfast is not provided, however the kitchen is stocked with muesli & milk.

Guest Access

You will have access to your room, the guest kitchen, bathroom & toilet and outdoor seating area on the balcony. Guests have their own set of keys so you can come and go as you please. The rest of the house is our private living space that I share with my partner Sven and our 4 legged friends (2 cats and a dog).

Interaction with Guests

I enjoy meeting guests, sharing stories, having a chat and also appreciate that people like to have their space. The apartment is conveniently laid out so that everyone has enough privacy but I'm close enough to call if you have any questions or need any advice.

The Neighborhood

Safe and close to the centre, the location offers the best of both worlds – situated a little off the beaten track in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in Amsterdam. On the other side of the street you’ll find the Amstel River with stunning views, house boats and terraces.

The nearest supermarket is 3 minutes walking distance and a local store selling the basics is on the next street over. There are many bars, restaurants and shops including an award winning bakery close by.

Getting around

Only 2 minute metro ride to tourist areas (Waterlooplein, Rembrandtplein, Nieuwmarkt). Metro ride to Centraal Station takes +/- 6 minutes. From Centraal Station you can walk to Dam Square in around 5 minutes.

We're situated a minutes' walk from the Wibautstraat metro station.

Other Things to Note

~ Museum Card ~
I have 2 Museum Cards available for guests to use at €5 each per day. The Museum Card gives you free access to more than 400 museums throughout the Netherlands and allows you to skip the queues. In Amsterdam 34 museums are included in the Museum Card: Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijjk Museum, Van Gogh Museum, FOAM Photography. NEMO, etc. Please let me know at the time of booking if you'd like to reserve 1 or 2 cards.

~ Extra Info ~
Check-in times are flexible, please let me know in advance when you plan to arrive so I can work around it. Check-out is 11am (I can be flexible with this too, depending on whether guests are arriving after you or not).

  • What I loved about this Airbnb stay:

    1. Sarah! The host was warm, thoughtful and kind. I really enjoyed her so much.
    2. Clean and spacious room; very clean bathroom; free tea, milk and granola
    3. So easy and quick to take the metro into the center of town. Sarah's clear directions on how to arrive at her place were very easy to follow.
    4. Lovely cats which were remarkably friendly

    I loved it!

  • Sarah is super nice and welcoming, very down-to-earth, ready to grab a chat with---in short very supportive.
The room is exact as in the picture, clean and she even provided milk for the cereals for breakfast ( though I did not ask for it) - top hospitality.

I would definitely recommend her room/services to anyone wishing to have a stay in Amsterdam. 5 minutes walk to the metro, 10 mins with metro to Central Station and the city is yours.

Thanks Sarah. (Sorry for eating the biscuits - they were so delicious)

  • Sarah's place was the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. Sarah greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour and the key. The apartment was actually as pictured-- clean and stylish. There is quite a lot of privacy and a kitchenette for guests. The museum cards were awesome. Sarah was very welcoming and friendly and gave us a couple of suggestions for things we could do. The apartment is right next to a subway stop so it is very convenient to get around. We got a 72 hour all you can use public transportation pass for 16 Euro which was well worth it since we used the trams and subways a lot. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and Sarah is the perfect host!

  • EXACTLY what i needed!
This place was perfect! It's about a 2min. walk to the metro which can get you downtown in no time at all. Amsterdam's metro is VERY easy to navigate.
Sarah and Sven were great! The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The bed was so comfy it made it quite hard to get up every morning:) Huge windows and lots of natural light.
Thank you so much for offering such a great place for others to use.
Take care and I will be back! :)

  • Great Place, Great Host!
I spent four days at Sarah's place. The room was great and so was Sarah...smart, fun, very well organized, and very helpful. She has her apartment set up so she and her partner's private spaces remain private, so you don't feel you're intruding. And you have your privacy too. Lovely modern bathroom with a wonderful shower. Nice towels. Modern separate toilet. Very handy, compact kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster, etc. for simple meal preparation. Very good food store about 7 mins walk. I suppose I should mention that if you are a light sleeper, you might prefer Sarah's other room, at the back. Fairly busy road on the the Big Room side. I slept very well:) Very close to the Metro and a very pleasant 7 min walk by the Amstel River houseboats to the tram line. A great spot! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Sarah is a lovely host - we had a very good stay at our Citytrip in Amsterdam. The location is easy to find. We rented for our time there the bicycles from sarah and enjoyed to discover the city that way. She helped us with informations to bars, restaurants, concerts and kitsch-shops ;-). Thanks for all Sarah - all the best for you and Sven!

    October 2013
  • Sarah and Sven are very excellent hosts! My transit in Amsterdam was very enjoyable. The communication, check in, check out was very smooth. Sarah went out of her way to help me, with directions, booking taxi and more. She is very friendly and has a great energy. They live separately in the apartment and available to assist me during my stay.
The location is very easy to find, easy to get to the city and nearby beautiful canal. The metro and supermarket is within few minutes walk. Restaurants and cafes are close to choose from.
The room itself is very very big, with comfortable bed and a big window. It is well fitted with long big table, tall mirror, sofa and the closet to store your clothes. Room, Toilet and bath room are clean and nice.
Please do not hesitate to stay at Sarah and Sven!
