Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands. Situated in the south of the Cyclades formation, it is characterized by the impressive caldera with its breathtaking views, the traditional villages with the whitewashed houses and the blue-domed churches, the beaches with the black sand, a testimony of its volcanic origins. The capital of the island, Fira, is placed on the edge of the caldera rocks overlooking the volcano from a height of 300 meters. It is the heart of of the commercial and night life of the island.
The settlement of Akrotiri reached its peak in c. 1650 B.C., just before the great volcanic eruption that buried the village and brought the Minoan civilization to an abrupt end. Now, you may visit part of the archaeological site that extends to a diameter of 10000m. There you may admire the ancient city, the houses, squares and streets. From the famous frescoes found on the site one may comprehend the affinity with Minoan Crete.
The village of Akrotiri revolves around a Venetian castle of the 14th century and offers views of the caldera and the towns of Fira and Oia.

Nike was great, she showed us to the apartment, which was clean and comfortable. She gave us some brilliant advice and recommendations on what to do, where to eat (she knows some fantastic tavernas and restaurants that shouldn't be missed, especially if you like seafood!).
Akotiri is a bit out of the way and you definitely need to rent a car, to see the island, but this would be the case wherever you stay.
If you are intending to do and serious cooking it's worth noting that there is only a single induction hob and a microwave so you need to be a little inventive.
I would recommend staying here, it has everything you need and Nike has the Santorini inside knowledge.
We had really good time at Aura Marina. The apartment was lovely, with private terrace and pool. It was quite and peaceful. We enjoyed it so much!
On top of that, our guest Nike was so nice and helpful! All her advices for restaurants, bars, beaches were really great.
The view from the apartment is gorgeous: you can see the sea from everywhere and a great part of the island and the small islands in-between.
The apartment size is quite convenient, with two terraces, and enables one to feel at home and to relax, with all due appliances.
Nike has been extremely helpful and competent : she even brought me traditional food as I arrived on an Easter Sunday, a day where traditionally almost everything is closed in Greece. Most of all, Nike has a very cultural approach to the country and its rich past, and that is very important to make the experience more valuable.
Very very very fantastic experience here，Nick is reeeeeally helpful and nice！I'll take ur advice to learn how to drive in summer :)
We REALLY enjoyed our stay in Santorini mostly because of our lovely apartment, our incredible view and our great host. You definitely need to rent a car and it's pretty far from Oia, but if you want to get away from the crowds then this is the perfect place.
Amazing villa with everything you need in a rather quite part of this beautiful island, but with a car hire to get to places you soon enjoy the peace.
We got a villa upgrade as soon as we got there and Nike introduced us to the island and recommended local eateries, which all turned out fantastic and so very delicious.
One thing tho, be very very careful with the recommended car rental Axion.
Its owned by Vangelis who is oh so nice and helpful. However, at the end we where charged aggressively an extra 270 Euro for minor damages. According to car experts back home who we showed pictures, worth less than 100 Euro.
Amazing that the repair shop next to the rental just waved us away with a "no comment"!
We made the mistake in not checking the car at the start, so please do so because all the cars are broken and scratched in all possible and impossible places and everything will be blamed on you. If you dont comply with whatever money he demands, he'll call the police.
This ruined our holiday and Nike wasn't very helpful with helping us out, since everybody is friends with everybody and supports each other.
On the other side we had a wonderful holiday, made possible by Nike's recommendations and the beautiful place we stayed at!
Thank you very much.
I would like to thank the guest for the kind remarks regarding the villa, the island and me. I really have to set things straight, though, regarding their car rental. Axion cars, with whom we cooperate in the last four years without similar issues, provided the guest with a Toyota Yaris car (for the record , this was also an upgrade as they only paid for a smaller Hyundai Atos). The guest, as he states, did not check the car initially upon signing the contract with them. Upon delivery of the on their last day, the car owner found the car scratched in both sides of the cars as well as the front, so he asked the guest to pay for them at a very reasonable price, exactly 246 euro and 270 euro as the guest states above (I called Axion cars and asked to see the relevant credit card receipt). I have no idea what this kind of damage costs in other countries, but here, the usual cost of painting for every part of the car (each part, door, bumper etc. is charged separately) is 150 euro, so for 4 doors, 4 mud guards and two fenders would actually be a huge amount if he decided to change accordingly. The guest called me to complain and I told him I could not help them if there were damages and from the years that I know and cooperate with Vangelis (owner of Axion cars) I know him to be a decent and honest entrepreneur. I really resent the notion that we are all "friends" conspiring to rip off visitors, and I cannot be held accountable neither for the deal a guest has with a car rental company, not the damages caused by a guest to foreign property. I consider the opinion unfair and biased.
manager Aura Marina apartments
Amazing flat and great location. Obviously if you're staying here you'll benefit for renting some transportation if you want to frequent Oia and Fira, but our favourite parts were down Perissa way (closer to the apartment). Nike was superb as a host - her recommendations for bars and restaurants which came out of her 13 years on Santorini left us wanting for nothing. We highly recommend staying at Aura Marina and hope to stay there again.
