Just off Rugby Road in a quiet neighborhood filled w/ UVa families. 5 bdrms - 3 upstairs (K, Duo bunk, Single w/ trundle, 2 full baths), 3 in kids' style basement (Single w/trundle, 2 Singles and full bath, living room).
Cheery, sunny, comfortable family home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs, a main living floor, and a basement (with a separate entrance) with two bedrooms, full bath, living room, mini kitchen. The basement is kiddish, not elegant :) My teenage boys looooove it. Games, tv, etc in basement. Side porch is lovely for cocktails or coffee. MBdrm has a second floor deck up in the trees.
Responsible guests can use the house like their own - respectfully.
Interaction with Guests
As much as they want. I'm an anesthesiologist at UVa and will be closeby all graduation weekend. My husband has a home 5 miles outside of town and we'll be there, easily accessible to guests if they need anything. Restaurant recommendations, a ride somewhere . . .
This neighborhood is a 3 minute walk from the fraternities (not that I spend time there) and less than a mile from the Rotunda. We should be able to hear the students, but just down our little hill from Rugby Road it is silent and sweet and full of professors and their families. Very sweet, much sought-after neighborhood. In the event you need to go to JPJ there is shortcut at the end of our street that allows you to walk there in less than 10 minutes. You can actually see JPJ over the trees of our neighborhood. The UVa bus runs within a quarter mile of our house and city transit (both the free trolley downtown and the main bus line) are within a mile and a half mile of our house. Walking to the UVa corner for dinner or bagels and coffee is a pleasant walk - shorter than a lot of students make to class each day.
Very convenient public transit. Three bus lines - UVA, free downtown trolley, and CAT city bus lines a very easy walk. Park in our driveway or on our street. If you need help to or from the airport, I'd be glad to help or even pick you up so we can meet.
We will rent the house a responsible family for UVa events (graduation and parent's weekend); we expect guests to behave like we do . . . respectfully towards our home and neighbors, enjoying themselves in a responsible manner. You can't have big parties here but you can certainly have large family dinners. Just ask if you're not sure what would be appropriate to the house and neighborhood and I'll be glad to let you know.
