The Space

This private suite overlooks the historic little goldrush town of Mariposa. The entrance to Yosemite National Park is just a 45 minute drive, up the #140, all-weather highway, along the Merced River, that leads to all the splendor of Yosemite!
As you walk through the front entrance of the suite you are greeted by the warmth of hardwood floors and honey colored walls. Ahead is the Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower of the richly tiled bathroom. To your left, through the double doors, you find the sittingroom with comfy red leather chairs, flatscreen TV, an antique Mediteranian sideboard cabinet that is now a beautiful, granite topped, wet bar. A cozy nook with antique desk and chair, are highlighted with stained glass sidelighting and the octogon window above the desk frames a view of downtown unique to this site. Through the handcrafted Mohogany doors, the bedroom boasts an elevated queen size bed with handcrafted headboard and side tables. A docking station is there to power up your phone or iPod and touch sensitive lighting is there by your bedside. The cieling fan above your bed is remote controled for romantic lighting and an antique Belgian armoire is your closet. French doors in the sittingroom and bedroom take you out onto the private balcony above the downtown of Mariposa where you can enjoy your morning coffee or watch the sun set behind the mountains; the only view of its kind anywhere in town.
2.6 hours from San Francisco, 1.2 hours from Fresno there is a small municipal airport just 10 minutes from town. Surrounded by fine restaurants and unique little shops, all within a three block radius. Catch the Via bus just a half a block away and ride up the river canyon of the Merced River and into Yosemite National Park and visit our award winning history museum.

  • My friend and I decided to climb Half Dome last minute and, in order to cut down on driving time, stayed at The Arbor Suite. That was possibly the best decision of the trip! Carol is a fantastic host and gave us some great tips for the hike, the suite itself looks like it's right out of a European hotel - it was fantastic! The pizzeria just down the road was delicious and we enjoyed eating it out on the deck looking out at the sunset the evening before our hike. I am already looking forward to another stay in Mariposa!

  • What a great place to stay! We enjoyed an afternoon cocktail on the balcony each evening after a long day at Yosemite. A great breakfast spot, The Sugar Pine Cafe, is next door on one side. A great dinner spot, Savoury's, is next door on the other side. Decent Mexican and pizza also within a block. The unit itself was very nice, just like it looks in the pictures. We picked Mariposa after being disappointed with the reviews of the places right in Yosemite and after seeing the positive reviews of the quaint little town. Glad we did. Carol was very responsive and a pleasure to meet.

  • Carol's suite is just perfect, ideally located in the quaint little town of Mariposa.
20min drive to Yosemite's entrance, you'll find everything you need. The diner next door serves a great breakfast and Savoury's is a great restaurant just steps away!
A great recommendation for anyone wanting to stay near Yosemite.

  • This review is for Carol herself, not the Arbor suite. Due to a mishap with Carol's calendar we were unable to stay in the room. She and her mother (who was there at the time we arrived) handled everything graciously. Carol's mom pointed us to a nice place where we could spend the night. Carol was very apologetic, polite and prompt to refund us all our money. She even went the extra mile and offered us a complimentary night because of the inconvenience. Thank you Carol and we are looking forward to stay in your place in the future.

  • We had a great stay in Mariposa. There was a nice little downtown to explore with plenty of food and drink options for our one night stay. The café next door was great for breakfast, it was very reasonably priced. The condo stay was great.

  • We had a lovely stay in Carol's Arbor Suite. We were very happy with the location and amenities of the suite. We walked outside our door and were able to go to a local cafe for breakfast and when we returned home from Yosemite we had ample options for dinner that were only a few foot steps away. In regards to the suite, we had everything we needed for a super comfortable stay. We will definitely return! Thanks, Carol!

  • A great place! We loved the room and Carol was very helpful pre-trip. For a traveler needing amenities or something to do within walking distance, it couldn't be beat. Literally walking next door for breakfast the the Sugar Pine Cafe. Definitely would stay here again.

I am a dyed in the wool mountain girl. The sierras are my home and will be, hopefully, for eternity. I love a good hike to the top of a mountain and the run back down. I like to travel and like it even more if my dogs are with me. I am a bit of an entrepreneur and have a few businesses always in the planning stages. People tell me I work too hard, but I like the movement. Yoga, Tai Chi and guitar are a part of each day for me, even if I only have a couple of minutes to devote to them. Life is beautiful here! I have spent the last 10+ years renovating the building that is home to The Arbor Suite and hope you all will enjoy the fruits of my labors! It is a very cozy, comfortable and well appointed destination for a tired traveler wanting some pampering. ;) Come for a visit!
