The Space

Two rooms in 3-br villa available for short or long-term stay. The villa is situated in a quiet suburb on the south side of the Swan River, half-way between Perth and Fremantle. The Canning Highway is a five-minute walk away, giving easy access via bus to both Perth and Fremantle.

One room has comfy Queen-sized bed and wardrobe, the other has a single bed, desk, dressing-table and wardrobe. There are two toilets, one being in the shared bathroom. Off-street parking is available.

Melville is close to several parks, schools and shops (Garden City must be one of the best shopping centres in Perth) and there are some great places to eat out in Applecross, Myaree , Bicton, Attadale and Fremantle.

The city of Melville is well run by the local government and there are lots of activities and facilities to enjoy. The Melville aquatic centre is fabulous and the Melville Recreation centre is great too, offering everything from aerobics, step classes, gym, basketball, netball, and touch footy. There is a very large and well equipped library adjacent to the centre as well as a Tennis club.

You can spend your time walking along the river or picnicking next to it. There is also a riverside bike track which connects Fremantle to the CBD.

  • My partner and I stayed with Steve while we looked for a place to live in Perth. Steve gave us the perfect welcome to Perth. He was friendly and full of advice about where to live and where not to live and lots of tips. His place is spotless and spacious. The second room was great because we could put all our stuff in their out of the way. He cooked us a couple of fantastic meals including the BEST fish we've ever tasted. We had some wonderful conversations and felt very relaxed and welcome in his home. Steve's a really interesting guy with a wealth of experience and it was fascinating listening to his stories. Melville is also a lovely area, very quiet and leafy. It was very convenient to get to Fremantle and Perth city, though we did have a car. Would highly recommend staying with Steve!

  • Steve is a most friendly host who is happy to open his home to his guests and for them to treat it as their own. He is very helpful with introducing you to Perth & Freemantle. He is happy to share a meal and his cooking is excellent.

  • Steve was the perfect host in many ways! His place was our first stop in Oz & we feel very lucky to have found somewhere so great to stay. Steve made us feel at ease & welcome in his home. Nothing was too much trouble for him to help us out with - kind man. There was plenty of room for all our luggage, bus stop round the corner to get to Fremantle & Perth & local amenities also within walking distance. You will not be disappointed if you stay at Steve's!

  • Steve is the perfect host. Myself and my husband stayed with Steve for a few weeks and he made us feel totally at home. He went out of his way to help us in every way and is extremely kind. He cooked us his world famous curry and fish dinner which lived up to expectations. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend a stay with Steve for anyone on a trip to perth. His house is in a really nice area with a excellent coffee shop and pizza restaurant in walking distance. You can catch a bus at the bottom of the road very easily to Fremantle and perth. An excellent stay thanks for everything Steve!

  • Steve was a great host and we had a wonderful stay at his house. He picked us up from the airport although it was in the middle of the night. We enjoyed the evenings with him, listening to stories about Australie and drinking wine. He is a great cook - thanks for the pasta. We would definetly stay again.

  • Me(19) and my friend Johanna(18) stayed with Steve at the beginning of our australian journey. He was a great host - very kind and helpful (with our search for a car). The rooms were clean, tidy and nice. Steve also cooked a few times for us which was really delicious and he let us try the local beer and wine. We enjoyed our stay very much, would love to come back some time and would definately recommend him!
