The Space

However inside is where your stay in San Francisco truly becomes exceptional. This 6-room unit features elegant rooms, high ceilings with wood beams spanning across the living room, hardwood floors throughout, and wool area rugs. A wonderful mix of both modern and antique furnishings adds the perfect touch to this unit's design, as do the stained glass windows found throughout the apartment. Both bedrooms are set very far apart ensuring privacy within your party. The kitchen is fully furnished and equipped, it is sunny and spacious. There is a large family dining table for those quiet dinners at home. The living room is comfortable with italian sofa and armchair; and equipped with a 45 Inch flat TV.
Your stay at this modern and classic unit will not be forgotten! The washer and dryer are shared and coin operated; the laundry room is located on the 1st floor.

It has been said of this building that it is "one of three of the most significant architectural dwellings in San Francisco". "If San Francisco is the Rome of the colorist Movement, Alamo Square is the Vatican. The Square is the heart of the greatest collection of Painted Ladies and one of the most important collections of Victorian buildings in the world.
Although it doesn't have a Saint Peter's, it does have an Archbishop Mansion." This Mansion is located a block away from the "Belle" facing Alamo Square park and just up 1/2 a block are the famous "Seven Sisters" seen in every collection of photos depicting San Francisco.

1347-45 McAllister Street was designed by James Francis Dunn, started in early 1898 and completed at the end of 1900. It was built in the French neo-Baroque style as a tribute to the owner's great love, an opera diva from Paris. He had 2 "Juliet"(as in Shakespeare's Juliet) balconies constructed that are similar to the Paris Opera House boxes even today. The front of the building has 4 winged mermaids and Grecian urns of mythological significance surrounding the 2 huge oval windows at the very top of the building, behind which is a grand ballroom with a panoramic view of downtown San Francisco all the way to Mt. Diablo across the Bay Bridge, as well as weary gods holding up the eves, and finally museum worthy stained glass sea shell windows with gems spilling out over the balconies.

The entry way is a huge tortoise shell with a ruby heart above it said to be "like the piece that frames m'lady-in-waiting at the French court". The building is a feature on the Double Decker bus tourists route, as well as walking tours of S.F., and is to be found in coffee table books on San Francisco architecture, magazines, and news paper articles. The "Belle" survived the great 1906 quake as it is built on bed rock. Look up James Francis Dunn for more photos and other unique buildings he erected in San Francisco during his career.

  • My family and I stayed at the Classic Victorian Apt I February 2014. We loved everything about it! Great location and very accommodating. They provided lots of information about the surroundings and great directions to get there from the airport. We would strongly recommend this place and would stay there again! We was looking for a place to stay as we was in route to San Fran due to an unfortunate circumstance....they saved our vacation!!!!

  • Great apartment in fab location. Bernat's instructions were clear and helpful. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend.

    January 2014
  • Bernat's apartment is located at the top end of McAlister street and is in an ideal location to explore neighbourhood around Alamo Park, Divisidero , Fillmore, Hayes and Haight Ashbury and the Golden Gate Park beyond. It's also close to a number if small supermarkets and excellent local eateries and coffee shops . The apartment is beautifully presented and is very comfortable for 4 people. The. No. 5 bus runs right outside and to downtown. There is plenty of information in the apartment about SF. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

  • Bernat is themanager, I believe, and not the owner. He was very communicative and easy to get ahold of, both before and during our stay.
The façade of the building is fantastic. The location is great. Access to public buses is perfect, with the #5 stopping both ways within 200 feet of the front entrance. Parking was repeatedly easy, which is unusual for San Francisco. We would stay again.

    July 2013
  • The apartment is really beautiful, and the hosts were responsive and helpful. I mean the apartment is really cool, classic old SF architecture; they talk it up in the description but we were still impressed when we got there.

Don't hesitate to book, these are responsible and professional folks.

    March 2013
  • Bernat was a great host who explained every detail very well before we arrive. He also sent me a pdf which tells about nice places, restaurants and bars to go. The apartment was just like in the pictures and very tidy and clean. The only problem was about parking, the streets are generally crowded with parked cars, but you can use nearby garages also. I think this is one of the best choices to stay in San Francisco, since its very close to popular places.

    December 2012
  • The apartment is lovely and the location near Alamo Square is great. It is within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants in Hayes Valley and along Fillmore.

We had a few maintenance issues with the heat and plumbing that the managers promised to address. We would stay again as long as everything is in good working order!

    December 2012
  • Lovely apartment. Cool neighborhood, just a couple blocks from all things on Divisadero, 1.5 blocks from beautiful Alamo Square and several good bus routes located right by.

I love my wife, my parents and my brother, without them nothing would be the same! I like to provide people accommodation during their stay in San Francisco. I also have on Airbnb one cute apartment in the heart of Barcelona. San Francisco is such an amazing city surrounded by history, unique culture and special events throughout the whole year, and I want to make sure my guests enjoy their stay as much as possible! My favorite places in the world are San Francisco, Menorca, Barcelona and a place I haven't been yet. I love the Mediterranean sea and its magic. My motto is: If you can dream it, you can do it!
