About this listing
One dog, 6 ducks and two gals offer a private bedroom in their house in Bristol, Vermont. Easy walk to the village, where you can find a bakery, brew pub, bookstore, and other shops, as well as a fitness center, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy school and Bristol Yoga, an Ashtanga yoga shala. If you should tire of Bristol and lack a vehicle, there is a tri-town shuttle which can take you to Middlebury or Vergennes. Hike in the Green Mountain National Forest in the summer, and ski three different mountains in the winter (Sugarbush, Middlebury Snowbowl, and Mad River Glenn), all under an hour's drive from my house. If you're more excited about cross country, there are extensive groomed trails nearby, as well as many National Forest trail-heads for the back-country enthusiast. Internet and parking available. No t.v! Full kitchen access, shared bathroom. I am a yoga teacher and practitioner, writer, and gardener who dabbles in herbalism. My partner, Meghan, is an ecological landscaper with her own business, specializing in installing and growing perennial edibles. We welcome folks who want an affordable, humble place in which to retreat and relax. This is not a fancy, tricked out palace. It's an old house in a small village in Vermont, with creaky floors and some character, and its occupants both make their living turning soil and grubbing around in the dirt (not to worry, we both like hot water and soap!). Please be able to appreciate at least one early riser, and the sound of dog claws clicking across a hardwood floor.
In terms of booking the space, we would love about 24-48 hours advance notice. It's not necessary, but we're more likely to accept the request if we have a bit of prep time.
The hosts are welcoming flexible and courteous. The bedroom is cozy and immaculate. I had an absolutely perfect experience and will happily return. Conveniently located on a pretty and quiet street.
Host was super welcoming like a was a family member that was just stopping in for the night.
The downtown that she says is nearby really is nearby. It was a short walk even in the middle of the winter and there was a good selection of restaurants open at 8pm on a saturday.
We had a great experience!
The room was just as described -- no frills, but clean, warm, and comfortable. Allison was hugely accommodating of our weather-thrown travel plans which removed the stress from our vacation weekend.
The house is in a cute neighborhood where we had no trouble parking. We visited Vermont to ski and were pleased that Allison's home was near a few mountains.
Allison and her partner were lovely and easy to get in touch with while we were travelling north.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
A thoroughly pleasant stay - we felt very welcomed and the location is extremely convenient to downtown Bristol. Nice, comfy bed, too!
Modest, but clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Very nice, intelligent hosts and sweet dogs. Walking distance to bar and bakery. Short scenic drive to Middlebury. I'd stay here again
What a great, restful place to relax and recuperate! The bed and room were really comfortable and coming and going from the house was easy. Hosts are really nice and interesting people. The location is awesome, easy walk to Bristol's downtown with a great bakery, laundromat, and cute shops and a few yummy places for lunch and dinner. Easy drive to Lincoln, Bristol, etc. and lots of pretty hikes nearby. Would definitely stay here again!
About the Host, Allison
I'm happy to call Vermont my home. Not so great at the "me-in-a-nutshell" thing, as I feel I am constantly growing and changing, but: gardener, writer, propagator of plants, friend to dogs, kitchen witch, unschooled dancer, yogi (teacher and student), herbalist.
