Our small family ranch is located halfway between Del Norte and South Fork, Colorado, about 3 miles north of Highway 160. We invite you and your family to come stay with us in our Guest Cabin. Embargo Creek runs through our ranch before joining the nearby Rio Grande River to the south. Our ranch includes a few friendly animals like horses, sheep, chickens, and our Newfoundland dogs. The Homestead Cabin is nearby, where we offer Early American activities for your family to enjoy.

The space
Our way of life is not fancy. We live off-grid with all of our electricity being provided by the sun which powers a solar array and battery bank. While this will provide for your minimum electricity needs, power conservation will be part of your stay with us.

Are you longing for a break from connectivity? Come enjoy the quiet as there is no TV, no Internet, and most cell phones don't work. Sound crazy? You may find it is just the get away you need in this fast paced world. Read a book, take a walk, gaze at the star filled sky as you lie in the hammock, play a board game, reconnect with each other. You can go anywhere and find WiFi and 4G and hundreds of TV channels. Our guest cabin offers a taste of a different way. It’s sort of like camping, but you get to sleep in a bed.

Other things to note
If you would like to learn some early American skills, you will want to know about our Homestead Cabin activities. We offer hands on family activities where parents and kids can learn many early American skills by working together. Step back in time as you step into our 100 year old homestead cabin that we have restored for this purpose. Learn to cook on a wood stove, hand pump water, do laundry with a washtub and ringer, care for ranch animals, sew on a treadle sewing machine, card and spin wool from our sheep, make butter, and much much more. We do have to charge an additional fee to cover the cost of supplies. Let us know if you are interested in learning more.
