About this listing
Spacious self-contained 4-storey Victorian wing, sleeps 9 comfortably, up to 12 with squeeze. Secluded walled courtyard & garden, private entrance, amazing views across the Common to nearby Wimbledon Village. Recently refurbished, decor and carpets.
A short 5 minute walk to Wimbledon Village with beautiful views over the pond on Wimbledon Common towards the Village and very close to Cannizaro Park and Hotel. You have your own private entrance, courtyard garden and front door. Wimbledon is a popular, lively district, and only a 17 min train ride into central London(Waterloo). The wing is self-contained and mainly kept for our guests and is in an excellent state of decor and cleanliness. There are 3 rooms with double beds, 1 room with twin beds, plus a study with a single bed (smallish so not suitable for large adult male probably!). It is ideal for families with babies/children and grandparents, or professional sharers.
At the most it can take groups up to 12 (just!), having 3 proper mattresses that can be put in any of the bedrooms. High chairs and travel cots also available. 4 hairdryers provided. The wing is connected to the rest of the part of our house, so we are able to hear each other occasionally but the doors between us are locked so there is no interaction.
The wing is the front right-hand third of the house as you face it (see photo). 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus extra toilet, sitting room with Sky/Apple TV, own kitchen/diner with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, study room with computer and printer or could be a 5th single bedroom. You have your own separate entrance. Wifi, large collection of DVD's, retro arcade machine and table football. One bedroom is a lovely large guest suite, the other 2 smaller but with views over the common, but all with comfortable beds. Basement double room also comfortable for a shorter stay. Towels, linen, toilet paper, soap all provided. As well as basics in food cupboards like condiments, oil, herbs. Small secluded courtyard garden and long thin front garden as shown in the photos. Parking on the side street is unrestricted but hard to get during work hours. At worst you might have to park 100m away but normally you can park right outside the front door.
Interaction with Guests
The wing is linked to the rest of the house by doors which will be kept closed and locked. We (couple plus teenage kids) will be in the rest of the house but we will respect our guests' peace and privacy at all times.
Wimbledon Common is a huge area of natural beauty, with woodland walks, golf, riding and bike tracks. (We have well-maintained bikes you can hire from us very competitively at £25 per week each!) The Village is fun - known for its boutiques, restaurants, salons, bars and riding stables, and the world famous All England Tennis Club. We are next to Cannizaro Park and Hotel, with its Orangerie restaurant and landscaped gardens. Wimbledon also has a 12 screen Odeon cinema and a famous local theatre.
Bus stops for 93 and 200 are 5 - 10 minute walk, Wimbledon Station 15-20 minute walk - Underground District Line and Mainline trains to Waterloo, in the heart of London, is a quick 17 minute ride that leave every 3 minutes.
Other Things to Note
The house has had guest Andre Agassi
during his Wimbledon tennis years, and is the former home of the actress Julie Andrews.
No extra guests over-night if not booked. If you're running late checking in or out, please contact us in advance so we know. We would ask for no loud noise after 10 pm but normal conversation, TV etc is no problem. If you are intending on having some type of celebration and will be noisy after 10 that is usually not a problem if you arrange before booking, but it's not a suitable venue for full-on parties for younger guests with large numbers. We certainly don't mind crying babies, noisy kids at any time! As parents, we know they don't have a volume button!
Sorry - no dogs - some future guests might have allergies. Smoking strictly outside only.
Check in is flexible if requested, but we would expect you to check in after 3pm and have checked out before 11am. If you would like longer or earlier just ask. Normally it won't be a problem but we need notice, thanks.
